Installation of this software requires a PCU 50 V2 or PCU 50.3 with current PCU base software WinNT4.0 / WinXP already installed. HMI Advanced software includes HMI Base software The HMI Advanced software includes all texts in the five European standard languages including "simplified Chinese". The Help for setting and machine data is generally available in German and English only. For additional languages you have to install the new language extension packages of version V The HMI Advanced software includes standard cycles (technology cycles) V and measuring cycles V in an installable form. These are available as archives in the directory Archives / Cycle archives. There you will also find the upgrade instructions for the standard cycles or measuring cycles in files SIEMENSD.ARC or SIEMENSE.ARC (readable with the editor under Services). The HMI Advanced software includes Acrobat Reader V4 which is used for the Help function. Installation of Acrobat Reader V5 or higher will result in the Help function of the HMI Advanced to become unusable. Please note the documentation "HMI Advanced Start-Up (IM4)" on the delivered CD. General information on how to install the HMI Advanced software: An already existing HMI Advanced software is recognized and an update is installed where data management remains intact. All files in directories F:\USER, F:\ADD_ON, F:\OEM are retained. For this reason, it is important to modify the.ini files in these directories and not in F:\MMC2 or F:\HMI_ADV. Notes for mouse operation: The following restrictions apply for operation of the HMI Advanced software via mouse: Values entered in an edit field become valid only by pressing the <input> key, not only by mouse click. Marking with double click is not possible. In the editor you cannot use the mouse for Copy/Paste functions. The context menu offered after right mouse click is provided in English and is not always comparable with Windows functionalities. The operation focus can be set to certain screen areas, which would not be possible with key operation. This may cause unaccustomed operation behavior. The Acrobat Reader may be enlarged, but will cover the alarm line in this case. Installation of the HMI Advanced software: During ramp-up of the PCU 50 branch the software to the WinNT / XP desktop (by pressing key "3" when the version of the PCU base software is displayed at the bottom on the right or by using the DOS service menu of the PCU 50 V2) and create a network connection to your PC / PG by using the delivered CD. Then copy the HMI Advanced software from the delivered CD to the PCU 50 into D:\Install, so that the setup.exe of the HMI Advanced software is stored directly in D:\Install. The software will be installed automatically with the next reboot of the PCU 50. Alternatively you can call the setup.exe of the HMI Advanced software on the delivered CD directly via network. Alternatively you can copy the HMI Advanced software from the delivered CD to a USB stick and then directly call the setup.exe of the HMI Advanced software from the USB stick (drive G:) on the PCU 50 (only for PCU Siemens AG, 2011 A&D MC R&D 5 Page 1 of 5 All rights reserved

2 base software WinXP). Note for upgrading software 6.4.xx: As this software version is a full version, any existing language extensions must be re-installed after installation of HMI Advanced. This HMI Advanced software includes a higher cycle version. Therefore please delete archives CYCCUST_GR and CYCCUST_UK in the operating area Services under ARCHIVES, sub-directory Cycle Archives (CYC) prior to the installation. Please proceed accordingly in the following MCYC sub-directory. Note for PCU-Basesoftware WinXP version V7.6 or V8.x or higher: During the installation of HMI Advanced 6.4 to PCU 50.3 a Windows message "Windows File Protection" is displayed prompting insertion of the Windows XP CD. This prompt must be acknowledged with Cancel and does not have any negative effects. Compatibility HMI Advanced software can be combined with 840D NCU SW5.3 or higher and CCU3 SW6.x or higher. CCU1 / 2 is no longer supported. Simulation is based on the NCK SW7.4 (67.00). The Help system is based on the documentation for NCU SW7.4. The NC alarm texts are based on NCU SW7.4. Language extension packages STEP7 for SINUMERIK hardware of version V5.1 or higher can be installed and operated under HMI Advanced if it has been released for the PCU 50 used. OEM: 16bit applications are no longer supported by and do no longer operate via WinXP. Note: Due to function extensions, operation of HMI Advanced in the connected NCU(s) / CCU3(s) requires more communication resources. A shortage of communication resources will cause NC alarm The available communication resources are set with NC machine data MM_NUM_MMC_UNITS. Default value 6 is sufficient for operation of an HMI Advanced system at an NCU / CCU3. Simultaneous operation of 2 HMI Advanced systems (2 PCUs) at an NCU requires NC MD = 10. Operation of additional software together with HMI Advanced might require an increase in NC MD 10134, in order to avoid NC alarm Note: For use of the functions Multi-channel sequencer programming, simulation, double-channel display and for installation of add-on products (MCIS) for the HMI Advanced software we recommend to use a PCU 50 with 512 MB RAM.
