TS1000: Special Functions SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 1
Use PMS Interface The TS1000 management software give us the possibility to integrate the software in a Property Management System (PMS). In this field we will select if we are going to make that integration and which is the way to communicate with the PMS. Using a serial port or using Ethernet. Use On line doors The TESA Access Control System offers us the option of having on line doors in the installation through the wall readers and the Central Area only available with magnetic stripe wall readers. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 2
PP ask for password to collect openings If we select this option, the portable programmer will ask for a password when the user is trying to collect the openings from the electronic locks, readers and cylinders. The password is defined in the PP window and it has to be defined before send the information to the portable programmer. Remark: The password (in the same way of all features of this screen) is not saved in TS1000. It is only used to send it to the Portable Programmer, where it is used. Next time opening the window it will be necessary to write it again. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 3
Disable Event Log Using this feature, the operators of the system will have the possibility to collect the openings from the electronic locks (with or without the special password) with the portable programmer, but will not have the option to see them in the portable programmer. Once, this is marked automatically in the openings window view openings is disabled And if the collected events are downloaded from the PP to the software, they will be stored in the computer all of them except the granted access. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 4
Manage staff card copies In the system each user is unique and that means that we can not have two users with the same name. This allows us to identify and control all the users in the installation. By default we can not make copies of cards in the installation. If we want to have two users with the same locking plan, we will need to identify each user with different names. User 1 Card 1 User 2 Card 2 User 3 Card 3 For example, if we have three persons working in the cleaning department with the same locking plan, we will need to create three users (cleaner1, cleaner2 and cleaner3) and define the locking plan in the matrix for the three users. The three users are completely independents, meaning that if for example one of them lose his card, it will not affect to the others. Following with the above sample, using card copies we won t need to define three users. With one is enough. For the two others we will make copies. It will simplify the creation of the locking plan, but if for example one of them lose the card, we will need to encode again the three cards. Nevertheless, the system gives us the possibility to make copies of cards selecting Mange Staff card copies in the setup menu. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 5
After activating this option in the users menu the option Encoded copies will be automatically Remark: It is important to take into account that managing copies of the system when a new card is encoded it deletes the old card and all its copies. User 1 Card 1 New Card User 2 Card Copy 1 User 3 Card Copy 2 Working with copies of cards in the openings menu appears the number of the copy of the card. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 6
Manage ESC/RETURN feature With this function the electronic locks will remain opened for a defined number of minutes, every time the door is opened using the internal handle. If we select this option, the Esc/Return option will appear in the Doors menu. It means that we can choose for each door the option to use the Esc/Return function and if we do that, we will need to select the number of minutes that the locks will stay open every time that the door has been opened using the internal handle. From 1 minute to 4 minutes. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 7
Deactivation of Authorization Key As we ve explained several times before, the Authorization Key is a measure for extra security in the system. Every installation will only have one Authorization Key, and the person responsible for the installation will be in possession of it. The system code of the installation will be recorded in the Authorization Key and therefore it will only be valid for that installation. The Authorization Key is used during the transmission of information from the Portable Programmer to the locks and/or readers (that is, when initializing, updating or performing an emergency opening). TESA wants to stress the importance of the use of the Authorization Key as a security measure against eventual abuse or mistreating of the installation. However, we understand that in certain installations the use of the Key can be a nuisance rather than a security measure. For this reason, it is possible to deactivate it from the system for one o r several operator levels. Therefore it will possible the coexistence in the system of operator levels that require the use of the key and levels that don t. In any case, the Authorization Key will have to be physically present for its deactivation, which means only the person responsible for the installation will be able to deactivate it. Next we will explain the process of deactivation of the Authorization Key. No Need of Authorization Key to use the PP We open the Installation menu of the TS1000 software and click on the Operator Levels. We will access the selection screen of the operations available in the different operator levels. We select the level in which we want to deactivate the Authorization Key for the use of the Portable Programmer. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 8
We will select the highest level (5). We will see how the last options refer to the authorization key, and we ll see that they haven t been selected. This means the operators of the system in the level 5 require the use of the Authorization Key. If we want to deactivate the use of the authorization key with the portable programmer for operators in this level, we will select this option. Of course the Portable Programmer will have been connected to the computer and the authorization key will be ready. When we select the option No Need of Authorization Key to use the PP, the software will ask us to insert the Authorization Key in the portable programmer for its deactivation in this option. Once it s been inserted and recognized as the authorization key, the option will be active and therefore users of the system in the level 5 will not need the key for the use of the Portable Programmer anymore. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 9
Naturally, we can always activate again the use of the authorization key. The process is rather similar, the only difference being that reactivation doesn t require inserting the authorization key in the portable programmer - removing the selection of that option will be enough. No need of Authorisation key to use to activate the staff key The process is similar to the previous one and now is useful to deactivate the use of authorisation key to activate the keys. This is only useful for installations with electronic cylinders for electronic keys. We open the Installation menu of the TS1000 software and click on the Operator Levels. We will access the selection screen of the operations available in the different operator levels. We select the level in which we want to deactivate the Authorization Key to activate staff keys. If we want to deactivate the use of the authorization key to activate the staff keys, we will select this option. Of course the Portable Programmer will have been connected to the computer and the authorization key will be ready. Thus, operators with level 5 will won t need to activate keys after encode them because the users keys will be active after encode them. In the same way as before it is possible to go back in the situation deactivating the option; now without using the authorisation key. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 10
Other Cards TheTS1000 system has two special functions: the Blocking Card and the High Traffic Canceling Card. In this screen of the Setup menu we will be able to record said cards. Blocking Card The Blocking Card is employed to "jam" locks and/or wall readers. This means that the lock And /or the reader will not allow access to anybody, not even to authorized users. In this state only those who, besides being authorized, have the option "Eliminate Blocking", will be granted access. This option is selected when we are defining the users in the Users menu. Encoding of the Blocking Card: we connect the Smartair encoder to the computer through the RS-232 series port of the computer. We click on the Blocking Card button and the computer will ask us whether we want to record a new blocking card or make a copy of the previous one, if there is one recorded previously. The new card will cancel the one recorded previously, but the copy will not. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 11
We select the desired option and click on the OK button. Then the application will ask us to insert a Smartair card in the encoder: When we perform this operation, the message "Correct encoding" will be displayed. Once we have recorded the Blocking Card, we proceed as follows: to jam a lock or a reader we will insert the blocking card in the lock, and to unlock it we will insert the blocking card again. High Traffic Cancellng Card: Both the locks and the readers can store up to 1,500 users in their memory. In principle, we cannot install a lock or a reader on doors with a traffic exceeding 1,500 people, as they will not be able to identify all the users. To solve this problem we can program the lock or reader as a "High Traffic" door. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 12
A door programmed as a high traffic door can only identify the System Code and the activation and expiry dates. That is, it allows access to ALL the users of the installation, and it registers the last 1,000 events. High traffic doors, however, present a contradiction: if a user has a card or key that belongs to the installation and has no expiry date, s/he will ALWAYS have access to high traffic doors, and initially it is not possible to cancel these cards. This can be solved by encoding a High Traffic Canceling Card. When the card is inserted in the lock or reader, all the user cards recorded BEFORE the selected date will be cancelled. Therefore, when we record a High Traffic Canceling Card we must select the date we want to use for this operation. We must bear in mind that ALL cards recorded on a previous date to the Canceling Card s date will be cancelled. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 13
Remote Load of Portable Programmer (Available from TS1000 version 4.21) This is used to load remotely a Portable Programmer without a direct connection to the computer. In the P.P. window is possible to create a file that with an application called LoadPP.exe send directly the data to the Portable programmer. Thus, it is possible to send the file by anywhere where a Portable programmer is. Then, using the application LoadPP is possible to load the Portable Programmer and update the locks, readers, cylinders, etc. For that it necessary to open the P.P. window and then mark Send PP data to file Then, it is important to write the version of the Portable Programmer that is going to be loaded. To be aware of this it is necessary to check it in the PP with these steps: Switch ON the portable Programmer. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 14
Then, Press F1 button. By pressing the F1 key we access the menu of the Portable Programmer. The functions inside that menu are the following Then version and there will appear the firmware version of the Portable Programmer. Remark: It is necessary to write the correct version of the Portable Programmer. Otherwise, it is not assured a correct performance. So, then come back to the PP window (after marked Send PP data to file and writing the correct version of the Portable Programmer) and then Press Send Data to PP SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 15
Then, the file is saved. After that run application Load PP Data. Select the folder where the file is and then press Download PP (now the Portable Programmer must be connected to the PC) Automatically the data will be loaded in the Portable Programmer. Use enhanced encryptage for proximity cards(available from TS1000 version 4.21) Due to new hacking situations the card encoding process can be improved to enhance the security. SPECIAL FUNCTIONS 16
