1 Tar Heel Chinese Crested Club Instructions for Changing THCCC Website Passwords The cpanel is used to maintain the THCCC website. Copy this address: and paste it into your web browser. A page will be displayed that allows you to enter the Username and Password. Enter Username: tarheel (this is case sensitive) Enter Password: password (this is case sensitive) For security reasons, the password is not included in this document. Only the Website Admin and any co-admins should have the password. Click Login

2 The cpanel home page is displayed where all website admin functions are performed. Under Preferences, click Change Password to change the cpanel password for the tarheel website. This password should only be given to the website administrator and any co-admins.

3 The Change Password page will open. At the top left corner of the screen is a link to return to the cpanel home page.

4 From cpanel home page, under Security, click Password Protect Directory link to add/change the Username and Password of a directory (webpage) like the Members page.

5 The Password Protect Directories page is opened. Note the lock beside the admin and members folder. These are the two directories that are password protected. To access any of those web pages, the user will be prompted to enter the Username and Password. Click on the members folder.

6 The Password Protect Directories page is opened where you can add users and/or change existing passwords. You can not see a user s password anywhere so if you loss the password, you can come here and change it but you can t retrieve it.

7 Let s change an existing password for the admin user. Enter admin in Username and type in a New Password or you can use the Password Generator option. Note the Strength must be 80% or greater or it won t allow you to use it. Once you have a new password entered, click Add/modify authorized user.

8 An informational page is displayed showing the user and password. If you haven t already, copy the user and password to a safe location. I ve blacked out my password in this picture. Click Go Back to return to the Password Protect Directories page.

9 Now let s add a new user. Enter demo in the Username and click Password Generator. A popup box with a system generated password is displayed. If you don t like that password, click Advanced Options and change length to 10, Alpha Characters to Both and Non Alpha Characters to Numbers and press Generate Pasword. Note the new password is displayed. If you like this password, copy it to a safe location and check the I have copied this password checkbox and press Use Password. You can click the Generate Password as many times as you like and a new password is shown.

10 On the Password Protect Dirctory page the New Password is populated. Click Add/Modify authorized user.

11 You ll see the confirmation page. Again, make sure the user and password are copied to a safe place. Click Go Back.

12 You ll see a new Authorized user in the list.

13 Now when you go to the Member s page, you can use the demo as the User Name and C3Mm62CLmr for the Password.

14 Return to cpanel home page, under Security, click the Password Protect Directory link and select the admin folder to add/change users and their passwords. Authorized users for the admin page should be restricted to the Website Admin, President and Secretary. Anyone given access to this directory should have there own username and password. The reason is because the User (MQueen) is stored in the events table when an Upcoming Event is added. This is for audit purposes.
