They contain a summary of what is new within the 2.10 softwares and information on how to obtain and load the softwares. It is strongly recommended you use the Leica myworld portal to upgrade your CS Field Controllers and GS Sensors with the new softwares. Click to access the portal. Important please take care to read the following notes carefully Maintenance contract dates The SmartWorx Viva software version 2.10 can only be loaded onto CS Field Controllers which have a maintenance contract date of 01 May 2010 or later. The GS Sensor software version 2.10 can be loaded onto all GS Sensors regardless of the maintenance contract date. Version compatibility between CS Field Controllers and GS Sensors The new v2.10 softwares must be loaded to both the CS Field Controllers and GS Sensors. It is not possible to use a CS Field Controller running earlier SmartWorx Viva software versions with a GS Sensor running v2.10 software. Similarly it is not possible to use a CS Field Controller running SmartWorx Viva v2.10 software with a GS Sensor running earlier software. Ensure v2.10 softwares are loaded to all your CS Field Controllers and GS Sensors. Working Styles, RTK Profiles All working styles, RTK profiles and all other objects created or used within previous SmartWorx Viva firmware versions can be used without problems in SmartWorx Viva v2.10 SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v2.10 2/37

SMARTWORX VIVA SOFTWARE IMPROVEMENTS The following changes were made to the SmartWorx Viva software which is loaded to CS Field Controllers. Viva Uno The GS05/GS06 sensors are now supported within SmartWorx Viva. Welcome to the Viva Uno! The Viva Uno hand-held system is ideal for real-time, sub-metre DGPS survey and stakeout tasks, or for logging raw data for cm accurate post-processing tasks. Configuring to use the GS05/06 sensors The GPS connection wizard has been extended simply select to use the GS05 / GS06 sensor. If the GS10 / GS15 sensors were previously being used then SmartWorx Viva will close and need to be re-started before the GS05 / GS06 sensors can be used. Logging raw data when using the GS05/GS06 sensors Leica MDB and RINEX data can be logged to the CS field controller when using the GS05/GS06 sensors. In order to help log a sufficient amount of raw data such that the data can be properly post-processed, a Stop & Go indicator has been introduced. This can be selected as an option within the Quality Control panel. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v2.10 3/37

Once selected, the Param.. button can be pressed to access the Stop Criteria panel to define the Baseline length this is the distance from the base station. If it is needed to collect additional data to be extra safe then the computed occupation time can be extended. It is recommended to configure to use the Msd PP obs and % completed prompts within the survey panel so it can be seen how much raw data has been logged and the percentage completed. Or access the Leica GPS Favourites panel by pressing the favourites key (*) or by tapping icon number 1 and then choosing the Raw data logging option. Internal and External Antennas The integrated GNSS antenna within the GS05/GS06 sensor can be used, or alternatively, an external GNSS antenna can be connected to the cap. An external will probably be used when wanting to mount the antenna on a pole for increased accuracy SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v2.10 4/37

in measuring over specific points. The Rover Antenna Heights panel has been extended to allow the external antenna being used to be selected and the default antenna heights to be applied for both the internal and external antennas. When connecting an external antenna, this is automatically detected by SmartWorx Viva and the antenna configured to be used as the external antenna will be used. Icon 5 also changes to show an external antenna is being used. Note that a new antenna has been introduced - the AS05 Tripod GMH. Choose to use this antenna when using the GMH007 / GHT196 height measure tape (instead of the usual height hook). Use as a DGPS rover When using a GS05 / GS06 sensor SmartWorx Viva can be configured to receive DGPS data via Bluetooth mobile phones or port 1 of the CS field controller. Previously it was only possible to compute a DGPS position if using RTCM 1, 2 and 9 messages. It is now possible to compute a DGPS position using all RTK message formats Leica 4G, Leica, RTCM v3, RTCM v2.3, CMR+ and CMR. It is also possible to receive corrections from a single base station, or from within an RTK network from all network types MAX, imax, VRS and FKP. Note that the DGPS functionality is license key protected (see below). Use as a DGPS base station It is not possible to use the GS05 / GS06 sensors as DGPS base stations transmitting DGPS corrections. License keys When using the GS05 / GS06 sensors the following functionality is available free SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v2.10 5/37

of charge (does not require any license key to be loaded) - 5Hz positions - Leica MDB raw data logging - RINEX raw data logging The following functionality requires a license key to be purchased and loaded - GLONASS (art no ) - DGPS (art no ) The GLONASS license key is stored to the GS05 / GS06 sensor itself so if that sensor is then used on a second CS field controller then GLONASS can also be used with that CS field controller. When purchasing a GLONASS license key, the serial number of the GS05 / GS06 sensor must be provided to generate the key. SmartWorx Viva is used to load a GLONASS license key to a GS05 / GS06 sensor obviously ensure the correct sensor is attached to the controller. Different to the GLONASS key, the DGPS license key is stored to the CS field controller. This means any GS05 / GS06 sensor can be used with that CS field controller and receive DGPS corrections. When purchasing a DGPS license key, the serial number of the CS field controller must be provided to generate the key. The DGPS license includes receiving DGPS data from all RTK message formats, from single base stations and RTK networks. GS05 / GS06 Zeno GIS GNSS sensors The GS05 / GS06 Zeno GIS sensors can also be used with SmartWorx Viva. CS10 / CS15 Zeno Field Controllers Remember that if it is wanted to load and use SmartWorx Viva on a Zeno CS10 / CS15 field controller then one of the following 2 license keys must first be loaded to the controller: SmartWorx Viva (for Zeno field controllers) SmartWorx Viva LT (for Zeno field controllers) These license keys need to be loaded using the loader tool. Only then can SmartWorx Viva be installed to the controller again using the loader tool. Tap and stake of CAD background maps It is now possible to import and stake directly from a CAD background map. This is a simple way to bring CAD data into your job, without the need to import the entire CAD file. To provide this functionality, we have introduced a context menu which can be accessed in Map by a tap-and-hold action on a CAD object (sorry for touch screen users only). The selected CAD object is highlighted in red, and the context menu is drawn. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v2.10 6/37

Attaching a CAD background map to a job CAD background maps were introduced in SmartWorx Viva v1.20 and now with v2.0 it is possible to make the layers of an attached CAD map selectable. CAD maps can be attached to in the CAD files page of the New Job or Job Properties Screen by highlighting the CAD file and press the Attach button. When the job is stored the file will be attached to the job. (It should be noted that it is now possible to select a CAD file from any memory device) Once a CAD map is attached, layers of the CAD can be made selectable. This configuration can be accessed either in Job Properties on the CAD files page by pressing Fn Layers.. or by pressing the button on the Map Toolbar In the CAD Layers screen it is possible to change the State of a layer (Hidden/Visible/Selectable) by pressing the State button. When a layer is selectable it is possible to select objects from the layer to import and stake. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v2.10 7/37

Stake a CAD point Now that a CAD map is attached and some of its layers are selectable, it is now possible to Stake out a CAD point in Stakeout. To do this: 1. Start Stakeout (Go to Work! Stakeout) 2. Select the job with the CAD map attached as the Control Job 3. Go to the Map page 4. Tap-and-hold on a CAD point 5. Select Stake point The CAD point is then imported to the control job and selected to be staked out. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v2.10 8/37

Stake vertices of a CAD line/area In Stakeout it is also possible to stakeout the vertices of CAD lines and areas. To do this simply tap-and-hold on a CAD line/area and select Stake vertices. This is ideal for staking out the corners of a building platform for example. The line/area is imported to the control job, along with one point for each vertex of the line/area*. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v2.10 9/37

*Note: Configuration setting Create points at the vertices of lines must be set CAD import configuration The CAD import configuration screen (also used for Jobs & Data Data export CAD export) can now be accessed in Map on the CAD import page of the Map View Configuration screen, by either pressing Fn Config.. or the button on the Map Toolbar. Here you can configure the way CAD data is imported into the job Note: CAD objects are imported as 2D. Other context menu options There are three other context menu options. Import will simply import the selected CAD object to the job it is attached to, without selecting the newly created DBX object. The Information.. option takes you to a CAD Information screen where details about the selected CAD object, such as Layer, CAD file, Job and coordinates. Also available on this screen is an Import button. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v /37

The Layer.. option takes you to the CAD Layer screen and highlights the layer to which the CAD object belongs. Here, for example, you can quickly change the State of the layer to Visible, so it is no longer selectable. Where is the context menu available? The context menu is available in most map views. For example, the context is available in the Map view of Data Management, Survey, Reference line & Cogo. Outside of Stakeout, only the Import, Information.. & Layer.. options are available.. however, watch this space for future enhancements. User admin settings It is now possible to hide settings which should not be visible to a field user. This may be useful where a Survey Chief has configured SmartWorx Viva in a way he wants the field user to work and does not want this user to be able to change certain settings. The Admin Settings Wizard can be accessed from the main menu by choosing the User menu option, System Settings and then Admin Settings. Within this wizard, a series of panels allows the functionality to be ticked which the field user should have access to. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v /37

When stepping through the wizard, if needed, the F3 (Edit..) button can be pressed to make the necessary changes to the currently highlighted functionality. Once the wizard is completed, a password can be entered to lock the settings. Once locked, a padlock appears in the bottom right corner of the main menu. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v /37

Note that if the password to gain access to the Admin Wizard is forgotten then the System RAM must be formatted to gain access again to the wizard. If the user is locked out of formatting the system RAM within SmartWorx Viva then this must be done by holding down the power button for 2 seconds, choosing the Reset option and choosing the Reset installed software option. Use of SmartWorx Viva with Leica legacy total stations Use of SmartWorx Viva with Topcon total stations It is now possible to use the following Leica total stations with SmartWorx Viva: - TC TC1100 It is now possible to use the following Topcon total stations with SmartWorx Viva: - GTS series - GPT / GPT-L series - GTS 800 / 820 / GPT GPT 8200 / 9200 Note that the license key must be purchased and loaded to the CS field controller before this functionality can be used. It is only possible to connect to all these total station types using a cable. Radio and Bluetooth connections are not possible. The following functionality is possible when using the Topcon total stations. GTS GPT GPT L GTS 800 GTS 820 GTS 900 GTS 8000 GTS 8200 GTS 9000 Robotic control Auto aiming Compensator Laser plummet Laser pointer EGL guide lights - Connection status Total station battery status Continuous measurements Auto logged points Reflectorless measurements Prism measurements For a full overview of the supported functionality, refer to the SmartWorx Viva Technical reference manual which can be found on any SmartWorx Viva DVD or can be downloaded from the myworld web site. It is also important to make certain atmospheric and geometric corrections on the Topcon total station itself before measuring points. Again refer to the SmartWorx Viva Technical reference manual for full details. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v /37

Leica TPS favourites The Leica TPS Favourites panel was already available in previous firmware versions it is accessed by pressing the favourites key (*) or by tapping icon number 1 when a total station is the currently active instrument. The panel has now been extended to include additional short cuts to frequently used functionality. The functionality which is available depends on the manufacturer and model of the total station being used. The pages can be toggled between by using the Page option. Note that the last used page view is remembered when accessing the panel again subsequent times. Leica GPS favourites Similar to the Leica TPS Favourites panel, a Leica GPS Favourites panel has been introduced. This is also accessed by pressing the favourites key (*) or by tapping icon number 1 when a GPS sensor is the currently active instrument. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v /37

Some of the functionality within the panel depends on how RTK corrections are being received. In the screen shot above for example, a GSM device is currently configured to be used as the RTK device dialling into a single base station hence the icon Change stn to dial and the Start RTK stream are available. Different icons are shown if a radio or Internet connection is used to receive RTK corrections. For both GPS and total station users, the My GPS Favourites and My TPS Favourites panels are accessed by pressing Fn and then the favourites key (*). Improved support of the SLG1 3.5G device The SLG1 3.5G RTK device can be used in 3.5G networks. The behaviour of the Use UMTS network if available setting relating to this device has been changed slightly. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v /37

If the setting is ticked then if the Telit device can find a UMTS network, then it will use the UMTS service. If a UMTS network cannot be found, then the device will use another service (assuming one can be found). If the setting is not ticked then the Telit device will only look for and use non- UMTS networks. By default the setting is ticked. Data export Additional information can now be exported using format files and ASCII export. This is summarised below. In order to export the new information described below, LGO v8.0 or later must be used. When creating a format file within the Format Manage of LGO v8.0 the new template type of SmartWorx Viva must be selected. Only then can the new variables be selected. LGO v8 will not be available until later this year. If you need to use the new variables prior to the release of LGO v8, then please contact your local support unit. The new template type and Format Manager can be made available for you. All previously created format files (created within the Format Manage of LGO versions earlier than v8.0) can still be used with SmartWorx Viva. Additional RTK information The following additional information is now stored when measuring RTK points. Note that some of this information is also visible in the field when editing a point and accessing the new RTK info page tab. The drivers can be found on any SmartWorx Viva DVD or can be downloaded from the myworld web site. SmartTerminal software The SmartTerminal software has been updated to support the following Use of Bluetooth and transparent mode It is now possible to use Bluetooth when using the transparent mode. This means you can now send and receive commands between a PC and the TPS1200 total station with a Bluetooth connection between the CS field controller and PC. In order to do this, follow the procedure below; 1) On the TPS1200 configure to use the GeoCOM Mode interface with the radio handle. Ensure the same link number is used on the CS (Smart- Worx Viva must be used to do this) 2) Start the SmartTerminal application from the WinCE desktop. Choose to use Transparent mode and press OK 3) Obtain a BT connection between the PC and the CS. The PC must find the CS. Note which serial port is assigned to the BT connection and ensure to use this port within the software on the PC sending and receiving GeoCOM commands to the total station. 4) Commands can now be sent and received to and from the total station. Exiting Terminal Mode When using the SmartTerminal software and connected to a TPS1200, it is now SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v /37

possible to return to the SmartTerminal main menu by holding down the Favourites key for 2 seconds. RoadRunner app Stake Intersection Point A new tool - Stake intersection point - has been created, making it possible to stakeout the position where two alignments intersect (offsets can also e used). A classic use case is where bridge abutments intersect a road. The Stake intersection point will be available for following methods: - Stake -Stringline - Stake -Individual Stringline Once you have selected the line to work with and the additional line then in the Stake Stringline panel go to Fn, F5(Tools) and then 4 Stake intersection point. If the selected lines cross each other more than once you can select the appropriate intersection point. Then as per usual proceed to stake the point using the Stake page or Plot page. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v /37

Advanced slope stakeout methods Two advanced slope stakeout methods have been extended to allow defining the Traveler height/rail over batter height perpendicularly over the batter. The previous option Batter rail and Reference batter only allowed defining the height over the batter vertically. Offsets to centerline in layer method In Stake/Check Layer methods, now see the option in Offsets to enter a centerline stake/check offset value. This gives you the flexibility in the Layer method to simply define a stake out point using the perpendicular distance to the centerline. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v /37

Asymmetric quadratic parabolas RoadRunner vertical alignments now support asymmetric quadratic parabolas as an element of the vertical alignment. Negative chainage increment Currently when a positive chainage increment is entered the profile view is displayed as if you are walking in the direction of increasing chainage. Now you can also enter a negative chainage increment and you will see the profile view is mirrored to suit working in the direction of decreasing chainage (as with System1200). Respectively the stake page arrows will update appropriately if the Navigation direction is set To alignment. Manual slope In Slope and Manual slope methods and under Tools find the option Manual slope. This function allows defining a manual slope for checking or staking (as with System1200). Project scale for length values The configuration Project scale for length values is available as with System1200. A defined scale will be applied to all length values. It will not change the original design data - it will however display the chainages, chainage increments, etc as a ground distance. This is a special feature created for a particular region and not commonly used. Tunnel app Profile Viewer Use the new Profile Viewer in our Scan Profile Toolbox after scanning tunnel profiles to see your over or under break. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v /37

The Profile Viewer makes it easy to view and analyse all measured points for each profile. Alignment Editor app Enter alignments using Point of Intersection (PI) It is now possible to enter vertical and horizontal alignments using tangents and geometric points of intersection (PI). For example in horizontal alignments, circular curves can be created by simply entering the coordinates of the PI and the curve radius. In vertical alignments symmetrical curves can be created by simply entering the PVI chainage, elevation of the PVI and the total length of the curve. Other curves types are also supported for more details please refer to the Viva Technical Reference manual. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v /37

Asymmetric quadratic parabolas As per RoadRunner the Alignment Editor now supports asymmetric quadratic parabolas as an element of the vertical alignment. RoadRunner Importer App The RoadRunner Importer App was introduced with the release of SmartWorx Viva and made it possible to convert Mx Genio data to a RoadRunner Road jobs onboard the CS controller in the field. The number of formats which can be converted has been increased and it is now possible to convert the following data types to the following job types: - Dxf data to Road jobs - LandXML data to Road and Rail jobs - Mx Genio data to Road and Rail jobs For cross section based LandXML data vertex connection definitions are mandatory. Only single track Rail Jobs can be created using the onboard editor. For double SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v /37

track jobs the user has to create 2 single track jobs or use LGO Design to Field. Remember that once the RoadRunner Importer App is loaded, the App is accessed from the main menu using 2 Jobs & Data, then 6 Import data and then 3 Import RoadRunner data. Sets of Angles app General appearance The Sets of Angles app has been modernised in appearance and made easier to use Computation of points Once a group of target points has been measured and the angles and distances have been computed, it is now possible to compute the coordinates of the measured target points. This is done using all observations which were made to the target points during the measurement process. This then results in averaged triplets for the target points. All other apps Although no changes have been made to any other SmartWorx Viva App, SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v /37

the new v2.10 Apps must be loaded to work with the SmartWorx Viva v2.10 software. Older version Apps cannot be used with the v2.10 SmartWorx Viva software. Language files The new v2.10 language files must be loaded to work with the new SmartWorx Viva software v2.10. GS SENSOR SOFTWARE IMPROVEMENTS The following changes were made to the software which is loaded to GS sensors. Updated measurement engine firm- (v4.005). A new measurement engine firmware is included within the GS sensor software ware This provides a number of satellite tracking performance improvements to SmartTrack+. RTK prediction In Viva 2.10 the prediction algorithms have been improved. This increases the accuracy and precision of the phase fixed position for short periods when the RTK corrections are temporarily unavailable. SmartWorx Viva Release Notes v /37
