Letter from the Executive Director May 28, 2008 Dear MOGA Members: I m pleased to announce that we have hired a Web Master to monitor and update our web site to keep it current. Our Web Master, Amy has developed this user guide to help you leverage our web site to advertise your business by utilizing your Profile page along with posting Hot Deals and Member Discounts. You have the ability to add text, your logo, and photos to enhance your profile and advertise. If you would prefer to hire Amy to build or edit your MOGA Profile page, Hot Deals or Member Discounts personal services are available at an additional cost. Please her at amymoga@mt.net. Her price list is below. Price List for Personal Services $25 Build Basic Profile or Update Profile, Hot Deals, or Member Discounts (Text & Pictures Provided) $35 Build Profile & Hot Deals or Member Discounts (Text & Pictures Provided) Sincerely, Mac Minard Executive Director Montana Outfitters and Guides Association 3
Introduction & Login 1) Obtain your user ID and Password. If you do not have it you can get it by sending the office an . Go to the web site by clicking on 2) Once you have opened the Home page click on the For Members button on the left. That will bring up the Member Login page. This is where you enter your User ID and Password. Comments on this document should be directed to the MOGA Web Master at 4
For MOGA Members Page Tip - To verify that you are logged in it will say Welcome, User Name next to the Logout Button. (i.e. Welcome, John Smith) On the For MOGA Members page you will be able to edit your profile, access the user guide, renew your membership, and view Request Info Form submissions. Under the Edit My Profile link you can do the following. - Update Company Information - Update my password 5
Update Company Information Click on the Update Company Information link to bring up your company profile. This is the page of all the company information we have for you from your membership application. Scan each field carefully to make sure the information is correct. Focus especially on your and web addresses and update as necessary. On the Update Company Information page the following tasks can be completed. - Update Company & Services Information - Download your logo - Create a Company Profile using text & photos under Descr. Of Serv. - Create a Hot Deal - Create Member Discounts - Change your password 6
Update Company & Service Information Make changes by highlighting the field and typing over the old information. Use the Ctrl key in combination with the mouse to select more than 1 item in the drop down boxes. For example if you want to highlight several nearby cities (like Billings, Butte, and Bozeman) hold down the Ctrl key and then click your mouse until you have highlighted those you want. Tip The selected items will remain highlighted. To submit your changes click the Submit button at the bottom of the page. 7
Download Logo In the middle top of the Update Company Information page click on the Browse button next to the Company Logo space to download your logo. This will allow you to search your computer or a disk for your LOGO file and highlight it and then post it..jpg files should be under 100K as the image will be resized to a thumbnail. Tip To resize pictures you will need to use a photo editor program. If you have a web site the pictures on your site will have already been resized to the correct format. 8
Create a Company Profile Another area to focus on is your Description of Services Text. This allows you to write a statement (there is no real limit but I suggest two or three paragraphs about your business that will help set it apart from the others.) At the top of the Update Company Information page click on the Edit Descr. Of Serv. Text link to open the Member Description of Service/Business text box. There is a limited amount of formatting allowed. This information can be cut and pasted from any other document. We strongly encourage you to use this opportunity to help show case your business. Be sure to check your spelling (a spell check feature is provided) as it will post what you write. Tip If you are cut and pasting your text from another program or document wait to format it. Formatting is limited in the Description of Service/Business Blurb. 9
To add a picture to your Description of Service/Business Blurb click on the button in the second row that looks like a Mountain (it reads Insert/Modify Image.) A pop up box opens and you can search your images for the ones you want to post. Select them and then insert them into your Blurb. Multiple pictures can be used. Click on the Browse button and search for the pictures on your computer. Once the pictures are uploaded they will show up in the Upload Image box by its saved name. Click on the name and the picture will appear in the box next to the Upload Image box. You then can adjust the width and height of the picture. Click the Insert Image button to insert the picture in the Profile Blurb. Tip -.JPG files should be under 100K 10
To Save Your Changes click on the little Floppy Disk Icon in the upper left corner of the Member Description of Service/Business Blurb text box. Then you will need to SAVE your updates by clicking the SUBMIT CHANGES button at the bottom of the Update Company Information page. Remember if you made changes to the text box (Profile Blurb, Member Discounts or Hot Deals) you need to click on the little floppy disk in the text editing box. 11
Post a Hot Deal If you click on the Edit Deal Text link another text box opens. This is intended to offer MOGA Business members the opportunity to post a special deal on a trip. Any postings you make here will show up on your profile page and will also show up under the Business Member Hot Deals. This is a very powerful marketing option for you. Text and pictures can be uploaded. The same procedures apply as with the Description of Services/Business Blurb. To Save Your Changes in the Hot Deals Section click on the little Floppy Disk Icon in the upper left corner of the text box. Reminder Remember to update or delete your Hot Deals especially if you used expiration dates. 12
Post Member Discounts If you click on the Edit Member Discounts Text link another text box opens. Text and pictures can be uploaded. The same procedures apply as with the Description of Services/Business Blurb. To Save Your Changes in the Member Discounts Section click on the little Floppy Disk Icon in the upper left corner of the text box. Reminder Remember to update or delete your Member Discounts especially if you used expiration dates. 13
Update Password You can update your password in two different places. If you are already on the Update Company Information page at the very bottom you can change your password. You can also click on the Update my Password link under Edit My Profile on the For MOGA Members page. Change your password and click the Submit button. 14
Renew my Membership Click the Renew my membership link on the For MOGA Members page to renew your MOGA membership 15
View Request Info Form Submissions Click the View Request Info Form Submissions link on the For MOGA Members page to download a spreadsheet detailing the contact information on everyone that has requested your business information. This is a great marketing tool for you to use as a mailing list. 16
Resize Photos To resize your pictures to upload to the MOGA web site you will need to use a photo editor program that you have on your computer. Most digital cameras and printers come with photo editor software when you install them on your computer. Microsoft has a program called Paint that is installed in most computers. You can resize a picture with it. Open the Paint program and open the picture image you wish to resize. To change the size of your picture 1. On the Image menu, click Attributes. 2. Under Units, click the unit of measurement you want to use for the width and height. 3. Type the measurements in Width and Height. Notes You can also resize your picture by dragging the image resize handles, located at the lower-right corner and along the bottom and right sides of your picture. (You might need to maximize the window to see the square resize handles.) If your current picture is bigger than the new size, the picture is cut from the right side and bottom to fit within the smaller area. If your current picture is smaller than the new size, the extra area is filled with the selected background color. Comments on this document should be directed to the MOGA Web Master at amymoga@mt.net. 17
