5 General Overview The RC2 XE refrigeration controller is a second-generation executive module in Novar s Spectrum Advanced Refrigeration Control System. The RC2 XE controls the refrigeration system by executing a highly developed, advanced control strategy and by monitoring the various refrigeration system functions and system components (compressor racks, refrigerated display cases, condensers, etc.). The RC2 XE can be configured so that it acts as the central access point to the refrigeration control system from the actual site or a remote location such as the facility s home office, or it can function as part of the facility s larger local-area network (LAN). It automatically maintains the operation of the refrigeration system without any user intervention. 6 Extensive alarm strategies: General purpose user-definable alarm settings Extended user-definable alarm settings (including event counters and triggers) Historical alarm event logging Automatic remote alarm reporting Remote alarm monitoring (client or Web access) Initially, the RC2 XE is programmed and downloaded in Novar s Engineering and Support System (ESS32) software. Once it has been programmed and downloaded, ESS32 or Novar s iscope Graphic Infosystem can be used to monitor it. ESS32 can be used to modify any of its parameters. Only some of the parameters can be modified via iscope. A user s ability to program, monitor, and modify parameters is determined by the user s security access privileges. NOTE! ESS32 and iscope screens refer to executive modules such as the RC2 XE as units. This document explains how to use the RC touchscreen or Web screens. Additional information about the RC is available in Novar s ESS32 Programming Manual for Spectrum, available in the Documents folder on the Novar Software Package CD. External Browser Support The RC2 XE includes an embedded Web server (user-configurable port) that can be accessed by various Web browsers (Internet Explorer 6.X, Netscape 6.X, etc.). The Web server serves the same pages that are available to the internal touchscreen (which is driven by an embedded internal Web browser). The following procedure can be used to access RC2 XE Web pages from an external browser. NOTE! If a user attempts to edit settings, the browser will ask for an appropriate user name and access code. The RC2 XE disregards the user name (i.e., one does not have to be entered in the dialog box). An accurate access code is required. 2 DOC. #TD /7/08

7 Step Procedure 1 Start the Web browser. 2 Click in the URL field (shown in Figure 1) to highlight the existing URL address. 3 Type in any one of the following URLs, substituting the RC2 XE s IP address for ( XX indicating the user-configured port [the default port setting is 80]) The URL can also be a name if the user s computer has names resolution and the IP is named (e.g., store BigBox.com). 4 Press enter or click Go. The browser will access the Web server in the RC2 XE and display the RC2 XE home or main page (shown in Figure 1). 5 Access Web pages as needed. URL ADDRESS Figure 1. 8 Initial RC2 XE Setup (Network Settings) The RC2 XE can be customized to meet the requirements of a specific facility. Its configuration establishes communications methods, touchscreen behavior, and various other settings that tell the RC2 XE how to operate. The RC2 XE can be accessed for network configuration from the local touchscreen or the ESS32 program. The remainder of the configuration settings are set through the ESS32 configuration screens. The following procedure can be used to set up the RC2 XE and configure network addresses from the local touchscreen. NOTE! The procedure assumes that the RC2 XE has been installed in an appropriate location and correctly wired. The local touchscreen is displayed during the power-up sequence. Step Procedure 1 Power-up the RC2 XE. If the RC2 XE has no kernel or version loaded into it or has a kernel but no version loaded into it, the display will be blank (no activity) for about 25 seconds before the touchscreen is activated. The display will include: The Novar logo. Loading version. ROM version number. 2 Press the logo to advance to a setup screen (Figure 2) offering the following options: Calibrate Touch Panel Unit EEPROM Configuration Exit (leaves the menu; the control program continues to load) If a kernel and/or version has been loaded into the RC2 XE, the user can access the setup screen via the Setup option at the top of the touchscreen. 3 Press the Calibrate Touch Panel option to display a calibration screen (Figure 3) and follow the instructions to establish the touchscreen s sensitivity. 4 Press the Unit EEPROM Configuration option to access the Unit EEPROM Configuration screen (Figure 4), which contains tabs that show the network settings. Clicking on a tab displays the information on it. Some settings can be modified by typing in a new setting; clicking on a selection radio button; or clicking on a drop-down arrow to display a menu, moving the cursor to the appropriate option, and clicking. 4 DOC. #TD /7/08

When the screen opens, the Hardware tab (shown in Figure 4) is displayed. It shows the model name, serial number, hardware revision, MAC address, and date and time last calibrated. 10 The TCP/IP tab (Figure 5) offers two options: If the Specify IP address option is selected, the tab displays the RC2 XE s user-defined IP address, default gateway address the RC2 XE will use while communicating with remote locations, the subnet mask address, the primary DNS server address, and secondary DNS server address. The Obtain IP address via DHCP option allows the user to obtain IP address information via Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. If this option is selected, the background behind the numbers that populated the screen for the Specify IP address option will turn gray. If the user wants to see what IP information was obtained via DHCP, the user can press the View Current option. Figure 5. TCP/IP tab A Ports & Services option at the bottom of the TCP/IP tab displays HTTP, data, alarm, and global settings for the ports and allows the user to select enabling and disabling options for SNMP and Web Server services. If changes are made to the Web Server port number, the system must be restarted before the changes will take effect. The Network tab (Figure 6) displays LAN and RS-232 settings. The LAN Protocol and baud rate settings and the RS-232 baud rate setting can be modified. Figure 6. Network tab 6 DOC. #TD /7/08

11 The Local Interface tab (Figure 7) can be used to adjust the touchscreen s backlight timer and contrast and speaker volume (which includes a Mute option). Figure 7. Local Interface tab Once the settings have been established, the user can click on OK to exit the configuration screen. LED Indicator Lights Figure 8 shows the location of several light-emitting diode (LED) indicators located along the bottom edge of the electronics module. NOTE! To view some of the LEDs, it might be necessary to look up under the module. 12 Each light indicates specific activities (explained in the following table; the LED number in the table corresponds to the numbers assigned to the LEDs in Figure 8). LED NO. INDICATES 1 External Flash Memory Activity Indicator LED (Red) This LED flashes while data is being written to or read from the external flash memory module (when the module is present). The external flash memory module can be used for kernel downloading, version downloading, and load change downloading. If the light is on, the RC2 XE is writing to or reading from the external flash memory. If the light is off, there is no activity. CAUTION! Do not remove the external flash memory module while this light is flashing. 2 Internal Flash Memory Activity Indicator LED (Red) This LED flashes while data is being written to or read from the internal flash memory module. The internal flash memory module socket is mounted on the main RC2 XE controller board and is normally not removed from the RC2 XE. The internal flash memory module holds the kernel download and version download file, load change download image, and various log data. If the light is on, the RC2 XE is writing to or reading from the internal flash memory. If it is off, there is no activity. NOTE! Do not remove this flash memory module. The RC2 XE will not operate without it. 3 AC Fault Indicator LED (Red) If the light is on, the unit will not operate. The light indicates that one of the following conditions exits: One side of the transformer is grounded when it should not be. The voltage input exceeds the maximum allowable voltage. 4 Modem Status Indicator LED (Red) If the light is on, there is modem activity. If the light is off, there is no modem activity. NOTE! This LED is not active if the RC2 XE is not equipped with the internal modem option. continued 8 DOC. #TD /7/08

13 LED NO. INDICATES 5 Ethernet (Good Link) LED (Green) This jack accepts a 10/100Base-T RJ-45 Ethernet connection. This LED indicates a good link with other network devices in the Ethernet communication system. If the light is on, the RC2 XE has an electrically correct connection to another Ethernet device. If it is off, the RC2 XE does not have an electrically correct connection to another Ethernet device. NOTE! Good Link light only indicates that this unit s receiving pair of wires is working properly. The transmit pair of wires is checked by the corresponding Good Link light at the other end of the cable. 6 Ethernet Activity (Outbound Traffic) LED (Amber) This LED flashes on when: The RC2 XE is replying to queries from remote devices. The RC2 XE is reporting alarms to remote alarm receiving stations. If the light is on, it indicates outbound Ethernet transmissions. If it is off, there are no outbound Ethernet transmissions 7 System Activity Indicator (Heartbeat) LED (Green) This LED indicates system activity. The flash rate varies depending on processor load. When the RC2 XE has version and load change downloads, it flashes at various rates, depending upon system load. Light load: The LED flashes as fast as two cycles per second. Heavy load: The LED flashes as slow as one cycle every 60 seconds (30 seconds on, 30 seconds off). Flashing is a 50% duty cycle (50% on, 50% off). 8 External Flash Memory Select Indicator LED (Amber) This LED indicates the external flash memory module is selected (similar to the floppy disk light on a PC s floppy disk drive). If the light is on, the module is selected. If it is off, the module is not selected. NOTE! Do not remove the external flash memory module while this light is on. continued DOC. #TD /7/08 9

14 LED NO. INDICATES 9 Flash Memory Socket This socket accepts an external flash memory module. Currently, the standard external flash module is 32 megabytes. Flash modules of 128 or 256 megabytes can also be used. NOTE! This memory module is not supplied with the RC2 XE. Power-up Sequence The RC2 XE is typically shipped with a kernel download (i.e., an updated compressed kernel image from ESS32) and a version download (i.e., compressed executables from ESS32) factory-installed. When powered up, the RC2 XE will: Emit a tone. Display the Novar logo. Search for and load the upgraded kernel and version download files. Display the Home screen (Figure 9). 8 Figure 9. RC2 XE touchscreen Home display The user then needs to perform a load change download in ESS32 to transfer the system configuration from ESS32 to the RC2 XE. Power-Down Sequence If the unit loses power, there is no power-down sequence. Operation stops. The unit does have time to save the power failure time (time stamp). When the unit is restarted, the time stamp information is put into the power failure log. The configuration should not be affected adversely by the loss of power because the RC2 XE writes the configuration to memory every few minutes. When power is restored, the unit returns to the states and modes of operation in effect at the time the power was shut down. 10 DOC. #TD /7/08

15 Killing Downloads via the RC2 XE CAUTION! Once a version download has been killed, the RC2 XE will not control any devices or report any alarms until it has been reloaded. Proceed with extreme caution. Under various conditions, the installing contractor might want to return the RC2 XE to its basic, unloaded state. A version download and a load change download can be killed simultaneously using a push button labeled SW2 on the RC2 XE circuit board. NOTE! There are two push buttons located on the lower edge of the circuit board, to the left of center. The SW2 push button is on the left. The push button on the right is labeled SW3 RST and can be used to power cycle the module. To kill a download, the user must press and hold the SW2 push button for 15 seconds. NOTE! The tones described below are available on units with touchscreens only. After the first 5 seconds, the unit will emit a series of audible tones. Between 5 and 10 seconds, the unit s heartbeat (HB) LED will turn on, the EEPROM will be restored to factory defaults (IP address, Subnet Mask, etc.), the tone will cease, and the heartbeat will turn off. After 15 seconds, the unit will emit a series of audible tones, turn on the heartbeat LED, delete the version and load change downloads from the internal flash memory, and restart the system. NOTE! When five of the diagnostic LEDs light up, the push button must be released. If it is not, the RC2 XE will wait 5 minutes for another power-up test. Once the downloads have been killed, the RC2 XE is ready to receive a version download. DOC. #TD /7/08 11

16 Unit-to-Unit Access The RC2 XE touchscreen s home display (shown in Figure 9) contains a Unit List option that displays a list of all RC 2, RC2 XE, or Lingo SE executive modules within a given system that have a Web enabled browser. From any touchscreen in the system, a user can access any other unit s display menus. This convenient access system allows a user to monitor and/or modify the control systems operation without having to move physically to the other unit. To select a unit, the user clicks on the Unit List option in the Home display to access a unit directory (Figure 10). It lists the names of all executive modules (units) in the system. Figure 10. Unit List display Touchscreen Navigation To access a specific unit, the user simply selects it from the list. Once the unit has been selected and accessed, the user can select options and move through the displays as necessary. The integrated touchscreen provides local monitoring/modifying access to local or remote units. The display is driven by an internally integrated Web browser that looks similar to the Internet Explorer 6.X or Netscape 6.X browsers. In fact, the exact same pages can be viewed from those and most other browsers (PDAs, Notepads, etc.). The items listed below follow the conventions of Internet Explorer 6.X, but the actual displays look slightly different. The internal browser includes the following items. Basic navigation buttons: Back returns to the screen displayed before the current screen. Refresh refreshes the current display with updated data. Home returns the user to the home/main screen. Setup displays the setup menu. An exit button returns to the Home display and logs the user out. 12 DOC. #TD /7/08

17 Toolbars Toolbars are typically displayed on the upper portion of the display. While accessing various display pages the toolbar changes to accommodate the displayed screen. The Home or Main screen (see Figure 9) contains the following information and buttons: System configuration information: System number System name Unit name (maximum 16 characters, alphanumeric) Unit number (1 32) Alarms banner (displayed only if alarms are currently active) Refrigerant type used in this unit Currently loaded control program version number Status Line displays the unit s current status. Possible messages include: Alarms Present Downloading Kernel Kernel Download Fault Downloading Download Required Loading Version Download Fault System On-line System Calling Out Power Fail Shutdown Load Change in Progress Invalid Modem Detected OK Outside air temperature Current date (left side of the screen) Current time (right side of the screen) Refrigeration button (displays the Cases screen with the main refrigeration toolbar at the top of the screen; the toolbar is used to access the unit s refrigeration displays) Overview button (displays an overview of the Refrigeration system s current settings) Unit List button (displays a directory of executive modules or units in the system; each unit s name is a hyperlink that can be used to access the unit) Tools button (displays the Tools menu where the user can access items that control the displays [e.g., display contrast adjustment, network IP address, clock and date settings) Inputs button (displays the list of all module inputs that feed data to the unit) Phase Loss Status Line displays a phase loss condition if one is currently occurring. 18 Touchscreen Operation Overview The RC2 XE provides a toolbar near the top of the screen that is used to access multiple menus or screens that can be used to monitor and control the system and modify its configuration. As the user drills down into a selected option, the options on the toolbar change to suit the requirements of current display. The center portion of the screen is used to display information based on the options selected in the toolbar or, in some cases, options that appear below the displayed information (e.g., Done, Settings, Monitor). If the information displayed extends beyond the viewing area, the scroll bar and up/down arrow keys on the right side of the screen can be used to scroll through the display. Access It is not necessary to enter an access code to view or monitor an item, but if the user attempts to change anything in the display, an Enter Network Password screen will appear and the user will be prompted to enter a password. Once the user successfully enters an access code, the browser continues to accept it until the user presses the log-off button at the top of the touchscreen or the touchscreen s inactivity timer expires. NOTE! Currently, the local touchscreen prompts for an access code without a user name. If an alternate browser (Internet Explorer 6, Netscape, etc.) is used, the browser will prompt for both user name and access code. The access code is required. Hyperlinks In the displays, underlined names and settings are hyperlinks. If selected, the RC2 XE will display the appropriate monitoring information or settings. Main Refrigeration Toolbar When the user presses the Refrigeration button on the Home display (shown in Figure 9), the refrigeration Cases tab opens and the main refrigeration toolbar (Figure 11) is displayed at the top of the screen. The name of the unit for which information is being displayed, the time, and the date appear just above the toolbar. Options on the toolbar are used to access the displays that contain information directly related to refrigeration applications. The toolbar remains at the top of the screen regardless of which option is selected or which screen is displayed, but the options change to suit the current display s requirements. 14 DOC. #TD /7/08

Cases When the user presses the Refrigeration button on the Home screen, the Cases display (Figure 12) opens. It provides an overview of the case operating conditions. If the information displayed extends beyond the display area, a scroll bar and up/down arrows on the right side of the screen can be used to scroll through the display. Figure 12. 20 COLUMN Case Current Temp Status Cut-in/ Cut-out EXPLANATION The names of each of the cases being controlled are displayed as hyperlinks (i.e., if the user presses on a case name, the RC2 XE displays the monitoring information for the selected case.) The toolbar changes to offer the following options: Monitor displays current settings and monitoring information. (No changes can be made from this display.) Settings displays parameters, some of which can be modified. To edit a setting, the user must: Press on the hyperlinked value. The RC2 XE will prompt the user to enter a valid access code if one has not already been entered. It will then display a numeric keypad. Use the keypad to enter the new value. Use the Del key to delete the old setting. Press Submit. The RC2 XE will validate the setting and display a message if the value is accepted. Press OK to exit the display. Alarms displays alarms associated with the selected case Logs displays logs associated with the selected case Cases returns the user to the Cases display This column shows the current temperature for each case. This column shows each case s current status as on, off, or alarm. Some alarms might be hyperlinks. If the user presses on a hyperlinked alarm, the RC2 XE displays a list of associated alarms (also hyperlinks). By clicking on a hyperlink, the user can display the alarm s monitoring information. 22 Column LD/Comp Capacity State Status Hot Gas Amps EXPLANATION This column lists the load numbers and names of compressors being controlled. If the user presses a hyperlinked name, the toolbar offers the following options: Monitor, Settings, Starts, Alarms, Logs, and Comps (which returns the user to the Compressor summary display). To navigate to a compressor s associated logs: Press on a compressor s name in the Comps display. Press Logs to display a list of associated logs. Press on a hyperlinked log name to display the selected log s settings and a menu offering the following options for viewing logged data and point information: Table displays logged data in a tabular format. Graph displays a Log Graph Menu for a selected log and a list of logs that can be selected for display in a graph. Interactive Graph (Java Enabled Browser) displays logged data in a graph. If the logged data extends beyond the viewing area, scroll bars are provided for viewing. Point ID displays data log point name and number and unit of measure. Historical Log displays an historical log menu of data that has been written to the internal CompactFlash disk. This column shows each compressor s capacity. This column shows each compressor s current control state. This column shows each compressor s current alarm status as a hyperlink. If the user presses an alarm, the RC2 XE displays a list of associated alarms (also hyperlinks). To navigate to an alarm s monitoring information: Press on an alarm s status. Press on the alarm to display its monitoring information. To navigate to/edit an alarm s control settings/parameters: Press the Settings/Parameters button on the Monitoring screen. Press on a hyperlinked value that needs to be edited. The RC2 XE will prompt the user to enter a valid access code if one has not already been entered. Press on the value field to display a numeric keypad. Enter the new value. Press Del to delete the old value. Press Submit. The RC2 XE will validate the entry. If the entry is valid, it will display a message indicating the value is accepted. Press OK to exit the display. This column shows each compressor s hot gas temperature. 24 This display provides a summary view of the operating conditions of the system s condensers. It provides the following information. COLUMN Cond Mod-pt State CI CO Split EXPLANATION This column lists the names of the condensers being controlled. If the user presses a hyperlinked name, the toolbar offers the following options: Monitor, Settings, Splits, Alarms, Logs, Condensers (which returns to the Condenser summary display). If the user selects a condenser and any of the options from the toolbar, the system displays the appropriate information. To navigate to a condenser s monitoring information: Press on a condenser s name. To navigate to a condenser s control settings/parameters: Press on a condenser s name in the Condensers display. Press Settings in the toolbar to display the condenser s control settings. Hyperlinked settings can be edited. To change a value: Press the hyperlinked setting to be changed. Press the field containing the value to be changed. The RC2 XE will prompt the user to enter a valid access code if one has not already been entered. The RC2 XE will display a numeric keypad. Enter the new value. Press Del to delete the old value. Press Submit to execute the change. The RC2 XE will validate the value to ensure it is valid and display a message that it has been accepted. Press OK to exit the display. This column shows each condenser s control module and point location. This column shows each condenser s current control state. This column shows the RS-485 ports to which this module can be connected. This column shows the number of times that the module has not responded to the RC2 XE. This number counts from time of download and continues until rollover or re-download. If a valid access code has been entered, the user can clear all coefficients by clicking on any coefficient. 35 OPTION Ethernet EXPLANATION This option displays the following Ethernet settings, as well as a MAC Setup button for viewing the Media Access Control address of the internal Ethernet port: BootP Address (IP)A Subnet Mask addressa Default Gateway addressa Data Port (used for inbound connections to the unit)b Alarm Port (used for outbound connections when reporting alarms to a remote alarm receiving station) B Http Port A These addresses are determined by the network administrator. Network support personnel can provide the appropriate addresses. These settings can be modified via the Setup option on the main toolbar at the top of the touchscreen or via ESS32. B These settings are currently not user-defined. Comm Port Setup This option displays a list of current Novar LAN Communications settings and provides an RS-232 button for viewing RS-232 settings. The LAN settings include: LAN Communications the current mode for Novar s (Unit-to-Unit) LAN. The RS-485 options are Master/Slave, NovarNet, and Mod2. This can also be set to Ethernet. NOTE! If this is set to Ethernet, the LAN baud rate does not apply. LAN baud rate the LAN (RS-485) communications speed. Send alarms for dial out to unit directs alarms to the desired unit for remote reporting. Send alarms for local print to unit directs alarms to the desired unit for local printing. NovarNet Continuous Mode enables or disables the NovarNet continuous mode. Continuous mode removes a 6-second delay (per minute) on the RS-485 LAN system that is required for some installations. The delay is typically not required on most installations NovarNet reconfig count is a real-time count of the number of times the NovarNet token passing system has automatically reconfigured itself. 36 OPTION Comm Port Setup (cont d) Clock Display EXPLANATION RS-232 button provides access to the following RS-232 information: RS 232 Port defines the operating mode of the local RS-232 port. The selections are: SNET-1 used to connect to the unit directly with ESS32 or iscope. The Local Alarm setting does not apply in this mode, but alarms can be reported through this port to an alarm receiving station in a non-dumb terminal mode. RS 232 Baud Rate defines the baud rate of the RS-232 port. This option displays the current settings for time, date, and daylight savings time. To view or edit the time, date, or daylight savings settings: Press Clock to display the current setting. Press the value that is to be modified. Press the field that displays the existing setting. The RC2 XE will prompt the user to enter a valid access code if one has not already been entered. The RC2 XE will display a numeric keypad. Enter the desired setting. Press Del to delete the old setting. Press Submit. The RC2 XE will validate the entry. If the entry is valid, the display will indicate that it has been accepted. Press OK or Back to exit this display. This option can be used to adjust the current display s contrast setting. To edit the display contrast: Press Display. Press Lighter or Darker as many times as necessary to lighten or darken the display. If prompted, enter the access code and press OK. Press Submit. The RC2 XE will validate the setting. 37 OPTION Diagnostics EXPLANATION This option provides a menu offering the following diagnostics options: Software Status displays a list of currently loaded program versions and time-stamp information. Port Status displays the current status of various unit ports. Change Log displays a Change Log Summary that tracks changes made to the system, providing date, time, user, parameter name, and new value. Change Log (Detailed Table) displays a table of detailed information about changes that have been made to the system, listing the record id, date, time, user, IP address, customer ID, system number and name, and unit number. Test Ping displays a field that can be used to test the IP address. Disk Services This option provides access to the flash downloading displays. This is typically used during system commissioning. External CF Directory will scan the external flash card and display its contents. Archive Retrieval displays a menu for External CF Archive Retrieval. The user selects Kernel, Version Download, or Load Change Download. Each displays disk operation and unit information and provides a button that can be used to start the download. Disable Alarm Reporting User Message For this option to appear in the Tools menu, it must first be activated in ESS32. Once activated, this option allows the user to disable alarm reporting for a configured amount of time. This option displays a user message if one exists. The message must be created in ESS32. 39 Downloading from External Flash Memory The RC2 XE can be downloaded from an externally accessed flash memory card. The slot for the card is located on the right, along the bottom edge of the RC2 XE electronics assembly. In most computer systems, the flash card is considered an electronic hard disk. In respect to the operating system, the flash card is viewed and accessed as an additional disk drive on the computer; therefore, some documents refer to the card as a flash drive or flash disk. Most flash card read/write devices are connected to the PC through an externally connected Universal Serial Bus (USB) port and mapped to an available drive letter. The flash card must first be loaded with the appropriate download files prior to being used. Once it has been loaded, kernel, version, and load change downloads can be performed from the RC2 XE. Procedures for loading the card and performing downloads are provided below. Downloading External Flash Memory Card Via ESS32 The following procedure can be used to perform a kernel download to the flash memory card. When a kernel download is performed via this method, version and load change downloads are also performed automatically. Step Procedure 1 Access the ESS32 Menu Modes of Operation screen. 2 Select 4 (Utilities) to display the ESS System Utilities screen. 3 Select 4 (System Diagnostics) to display the System Diagnostics screen. 4 Select 14 (XE Kernel Download). 5 Select the appropriate system and (if more than one unit is active) the appropriate unit. 6 Select Archive at the Download/Archive/Quit prompt to initiate the download. The following procedure can be used to perform a version download and/or a load change download to the flash memory card, without a kernel download. DOC. #TD /7/08 35

40 Step Procedure 1 Access the ESS32 Menu Modes of Operation screen. 2 Select 2 (System Format). 3 Select the appropriate system. 4 Select 4 (Download). 5 Select the type of executive module and type of download to be performed. NOTE! When a flash memory card is being loaded, the Save and Restore functions are inactive. 6 Select Archive at the Download/Archive/Quit prompt. 7 Make sure the flash card is inserted in the flash read/write device. 8 Enter the drive designation for the flash card reader/writer at the prompt and press Return. The screen will indicate when the download is complete. Downloading RC2 XE from the External Flash Memory Card Step Procedure 1 Insert the loaded flash memory card into the external flash slot at the bottom right side of the RC2 XE electronics module. NOTE! If the RC2 XE does not have an existing download, it will scan for an appropriately loaded flash memory card and attempt to download the unit when the memory card is inserted. 2 Access the RC2 XE touchscreen Home or Main display. 3 Select the following options as they appear on the touchscreen: Tools (on the Home display) Disk Services 4 Press External CF Directory to verify that the contents of the flash card are correct. 5 Press Done or Back to return to the previous menu. 6 Press Archive Retrieval to display the External CF Archive Retrieval options. continued 36 DOC. #TD /7/08

41 7 Select the one of the following types of downloads: Kernel Version Load change 8 Press Start to initiate the download. The display will indicate the progress of the download as the unit is being loaded. NOTE! If the unit has an existing version download before this download is started, it will continue to control with the existing version. However, the version download includes a load change download, and during the load change download, control is halted. When the download is complete control will switch to the new version.
