Part 1 Creating the Variables
Step 1: Select the Variable Editor to create the first variable which will be a dimension variable:
Step 2: With the Variable Editor opened name the variable: Distribution of Score and set the qualification to Dimension and the formula is as follows: =If(ToNumber([PRE-SCREEN TOTAL(2337)])<= 4;1;If(ToNumber([PRE-SCREEN TOTAL(2337)])<=9 And ToNumber([PRE-SCREEN TOTAL(2337)])>4;2;If(ToNumber([PRE-SCREEN TOTAL(2337)])>9;3;0))) :
Step 3: Create another variable by opening the Variable Editor and this time creating a measure object. The name will be Count of Assessments and the qualification Measure type the following into the formula bar: =Count([Client Uid]) :
Part 2 Creating the Alerters
Step 1: With the variables now created, it is time to create the alerters which will change the display of the Distribution of Score variable once we add it to our graph. We will do this by first selecting the Alerter button at the top of the screen and then pressing the New button to create the first alerter:
Step 2: With the new alerter screen up, fill in the Alerter name as Score 0 to 4 and set the operands field to 1 also we will be changing the Filtered object or cell value by clicking on the 3 dots next to the Cell Content value:
Step 3 Inside the prompt menu locate the Distribution of Score variable and select it then press OK:
Step 4: Click the Format button to change the way the variable will display:
Step 5: Inside the prompt set the formula to ="Score 0 to 4" and change the color to black:
Step 6: Repeat steps 1 through 5 updating the values as follows:
Step 6 (Cont.):

Step 1: Right-click on the current tab at the bottom of the page and click the Insert Report Button:
Step 2: Click on the Templates tab in the navigation pane to the left and expand out the Pie option, then select the 3D Pie option:
Step 3: Drag and drop the 3D Pie option into the blank report layout:
Step 4: Resize the area of Block1 to fit the screen:
Step 5: Switch back over to the Data tab in the navigation pane and drag and drop the Distribution of Score variable into the Dimension Object location of the pie chart and the Count of Assessments variable into the measure object location of the pie chart:
Step 5 (Cont.):
Step 6: Add the alerters that you made to the Distribution of Score variable on the Pie Chart:
Step 6: Press the View Results button to see what it looks like:
Step 7: Now it is time to change the formatting around a bit. You do this by first clicking on the Pie Chart then in the Properties Pane expand out the Display button:
Step 8: Expand out the Data section, note here that you can change the colors by clicking on the Palette button. From here expand out the Values button and make sure that all 3 options are selected: Show data, Show segment labels, and Show as percentages:
Part 4 Graphing VI-SPDAT Results by Bar Graph (Frequency Distribution)
Step 1: Repeat Steps 1 and 2 from the previous section, but instead of choosing the Pie option, choose the Bar option:
Step 2: Drag the Horizontal Grouped option into the blank report area:
Step 3: Resize the graph to fit the page:
Step 4: Drag the variable called PRE-SCREEN TOTAL (2337) into the Dimension section of the graph and drag the Count of Assessments variable into the Measure section of the graph:

Step 6: Again you can change the colors by opening up the Palette. Expand out the Values option make sure that the Show data option is set to Yes and finally set the Style option to Bold:
Step 7: The final step is to change the caption for the PRE-SCREEN TOTAL (2337). We do this by first expanding the X Axis option in the properties pane, then expanding the Label option, and finally setting the value of Other label to VI-SPDAT Score :
