4 Pre-Condition and Battery Requirement Active internet connection (Mobile data or Wi-Fi) required for FOTA update. Note that the use of mobile data may incur additional cost. Ensure the battery is charged for at least 10% before starting the upgrade process. If battery is low, customer may get a notification Your power is lower than 10%. Please charge. 5 This user guide provides the instructions to upgrade FOTA on XP5 Rogers phone from 5A N- ROG-C01 to 5A N-ROG-C-01 Updating FOTA application In order to provide improved reliability for Over the Air Software updates (FOTA), the Mobile Update (MU) application needs to be updated. There are 2 ways to download the new FOTA application. 1) Contact Sonim Support to receive a text message with a downloadable link; 2) Enter the URL in the browser on the XP5 to download the application Updating FOTA Application 1) Contact Sonim Support using one of the methods on p.4 to request a downloadable link for the new application. A text message/sms will be sent to the XP5 device with a downloadable link. Follow the steps below to download the file: Select Main Menu > Messaging > Select message with the link > Press the menu button and select Use Links > Wait for download to complete. A blinking down arrow icon will appear at the top left corner during download and stop blinking when download is complete. Proceed to p.7 to install the application. 5

6 Updating FOTA Application 2) Enter the URL in the browser of the XP5 device and download the application. Select Main Menu > Browser > Press the menu button and select Go to URL. In the URL bar enter Make sure the text input method is set to abc (the input method can be changed by pressing the # key until the desired method is displayed). Characters such as :, / and. can be entered by pressing the 1 key repetitively until the desired character is displayed. Press the centre key once the complete URL is entered to start the download process. A blinking down arrow icon will appear at the top left corner during download and stop blinking when download is complete. Proceed to p.7 to install the application. 6

7 Preparing to install the new FOTA application To install the new FOTA application, unknown source setting in security has to be enabled. From Home Screen > Press the menu button > Select My Notifications > Highlight the download file and press centre key > When Install blocked message appears, select Settings > Check Unknown sources > Select OK Preparing Preparing to install to install the new the FOTA new FOTA application application. 7

8 Installing the new FOTA application Installing the new FOTA application Go to Main Menu > Applications > Downloads > Select TS_Client_Signed_MU_Pkg.apk > Press centre key > Scroll down to the bottom of Updater install screen and select Install > Select Done when complete > Press OK to reboot or device will reboot automatically in 10 seconds 8

Select Main Menu > Settings > About phone > > select System updates > Checking for update > New version of software appears if available > Select Download now > Wait for download to complete 9

10 Changing FOTA Settings Changing FOTA Settings It is recommended to use WiFi for FOTA software download. If user desires to use cellular data for download, follow the steps below: In the FOTA application, press the up arrow key until the colour of the 3 dots located at the top right corner changes to black. Press the centre key > Select Allow mobile traffic download Note: If cellular data is used for download, a message No available network was found may appear briefly before download begins. Please ignore the message if device is connected to network properly. 10

11 Installation and Verification Installation and Verification Proceed to installation by selecting Update now > Select OK if the battery power is higher than 10% > Phone will begin the software installation process and power off/on. Once phone restarts, go to My Notifications > System update > Verify Update success message appears > Hit OK to dismiss the message 11

12 FOTA Software Update Complete Upgrading the FOTA software to latest version will increase the device s performance FOTA upgrade process will not erase any personal data including customer s contacts Known Rogers issues have been fixed in this FOTA software update Verify the software version after FOTA update under Settings > About phone > Build number 12
