3 New Features This section describes the new features added in each release of Omnicast New Features in 4.7 SR1 No new features were added in Omnicast 4.7 SR New Features in 4.7 GA Omnicast 4.7 GA includes the following new features: Video trickling The new "Trickling" feature allows you to selectively transfer video that's recorded on a camera to the Omnicast Archiver. The camera manages the recording and stores the video, eliminating the need for the camera to constantly stream video to the Archiver. Filters and schedules can be set up using the Config Tool so that only specific video is transferred, and this can be done during offhours when network traffic is minimal. This feature is supported for Axis, Bosch, and Genetec protocol units that have built-in edge recording capabilities. Also, your Omnicast license must support the Trickling option. For more details, see Trickling in the Omnicast Administrator Guide Audio improvements for Axis units Unicast UDP and RTSP stream over TCP are now supported as connection types for the microphone on Axis units. For more details, see Connection type between unit and Archiver in the Omnicast Administrator Guide HTTPS support For added security, Omnicast now supports Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) for units using the Axis, Sony, and Genetec extensions. An icon of a grey lock appears beside units that support HTTPS in the Discovery tool. HTTPS can be enabled using the Config tool using the Specific Settings tab for the unit, as well as in Server Admin. For more information, see Discovery Results, Adding Video Units, and Archiver Extensions in the Omnicast Administrator Guide Easier to add a unit The Add a unit dialog box now groups units by manufacturer. You select the manufacturer and model of your unit and Omnicast will automatically add the unit to the correct extension. Furthermore, if the proper extension does not exist when adding a unit, the Archiver will automatically create an instance of the extension without having to restart the Archiver. You can also add units using an IP address range or a port number range. For more details, see Adding Video Units in the Omnicast Administrator Guide Support for Axis Cross Line Detection Omnicast now supports receiving and storing cross line detection events from Axis units that have the 'Cross Line Detection' application installed. 8

3.2.6 Support for Axis Audio alarms Axis Audio alarm events are now supported in Omnicast and can be enabled or disabled using the Specific settings tab in the Config Tool. 26 have no effect The serial ports on Condor units do not work in RS-485 mode When using an H.264 stream on a Condor VS-8 unit, the stream will not show the first time you start it in the Config Tool If mango units are added to more than 2 archivers, some input pin events will be lost. To support the input pins events on 2 archivers, a special configuration needs to me made on the 2nd Archiver When changing video attributes such a brightness or hue, your video may freeze for a few seconds before the changes take effect When working with an MJPEG stream at 30 fps, your video may freeze, contain blocks, or appear choppy. As a workaround, set the Image quality to seventy-five percent or lower using the Video quality tab of the Config Tool Software motion detection in MPEG-4 is not supported Known issues None Mavix Limitations Mavix Media Racer: Only the first stream is available Mavix Media Racer: Motion detection is not supported Known issues None 7.18 Optelecom-NKF Limitations Optelecom-NKF BC24 and FD22 units: When working with MPEG-4 software motion detection, additional motion blocks may appear below the region where motion occurs Motion detection in MPEG-4 is not supported TCP server setting must be enabled in the Optelecom-NKF S-50 unit web interface to use analog PTZ control over the RS-485/422 or RS-232 serial port Firmware upgrades are not supported Known issues None. 26

7.19 Panasonic Limitations 1535 On some cameras, changing the IP address in the discovery tool does not inform Omnicast that the IP has been changed and will not be updated in the network information. Workaround: Change the IP address from the network tab of the Config Tool Changing the video quality settings while the unit is recording the audio stream causes the unit to go offline for a couple of seconds The motion sensitivity button is not enabled for MPEG Motion detection stops working for ten seconds after controlling the PTZ Panasonic NT304: Four cameras will always appear in Omnicast when adding the unit, regardless of whether any have been disabled via the unit s own Web page MPEG 4 software motion detection is not supported on all units When using a WV-NP502 and WV-NP502S unit, if you change the stream format or unit connection type, you need to boot the unit When using the WJ-NT314 encoder for edge analytics, the unit needs to be configured with its Web page and the detection needs to be active on the channels being used If you want to change the capture resolutions for a megapixel camera (1.3 MP or 3.0 MP), you have to do it on the unit s web page and then reconnect the unit to Omnicast. The new capture resolution will be read by Omnicast upon discovery of the unit The audio decoder (speaker) entity only appears when the Enable speaker option is checked in the Specific settings tab. This option is not available if the unit is set to multicast or if more than one codec is being used If the Bit rate Priority is set to Frame rate on the Video Quality tab when applying advanced bit rate settings, you cannot adjust the Image quality If your video compression settings are refused by the camera, an Invalid configuration in unit event will be triggered in the Live Viewer H.264 software motion detection is dependent on the bit rate of the stream, when the bit rate is high, motion is always detected (even with a low Sensitivity setting) If you change the aspect ratio or image mode using the unit s Web Page. The unit must be restarted for Omnicast to retrieve the new settings When using a GXE500 encoder, the unit may momentarily go offline after adjusting the Boost quality settings. To avoid this, ensure that your Video quality and Boost quality settings do not exceed the unit s capabilities Panasonic WV-SP102: 1280x960 and 1280x720 resolutions are visible in the Config Tool even though they are not supported by the unit. 27

Known issues 6182 For some unit and firmware combinations, software motion detection does not analyze the bottom part (approx. 10%) of the video image When switching from one camera to another by means of a preset, the video image displayed does not transition smoothly Pelco Limitations 2089 Pelco 9760 Matrix units can become unstable when using 0 as the input or output ID Specific PTZ commands do not work with NET5301T When using an OV Ready compliant unit, you may lose any rules you have created when you change the Video quality settings in the Config Tool Software motion detection is limited for MPEG-4 units When using firmware later than version 1.3.7, outpin pins cannot be enabled on Sarix units When working with the NET5308T encoder, the unit always reports the maximum amount of output and input pins regardless of what is connected. Therefore, the number of outputs and inputs reflected in the Config Tool may not be correct When using a Sarix unit, events are not received by the failover Archiver when the main Archiver fails When using low quality settings on a Pelco IP3701 unit, the video quality of the secondary stream degrades over time Enabling motion detection on a unit may not always work. As a workaround, lower the video quality settings in the Config Tool and try again. Once the motion detection is enabled, you can adjust the video quality settings Use the Specific Settings tab in the Config Tool to enable PTZ and configure the serial port for Pelco NET5301T. No serial port entity is created The Custom video quality preset is disabled for Pelco IP series units. The default quality preset and other quality presets have been modified to accommodate dual-streaming When using IP series units for dual-streaming, the video stream settings for each stream are linked. The settings are defined using the primary stream tab page (MPEG-4-1) and automatically applied in the secondary stream tab page (MPEG-4-2) Audio is not supported Signal lost/recovered events are not supported Network settings are not supported. 28

24970 Firmware upgrade is not supported For best results when using H.264 motion detection, it is recommended that you disable all automatic image adjustments on the unit s Web page Software motion detection is limited for H.264 streams When using a Sarix unit, H.264 Hardware Motion detection is only supported on the primary stream When using a Sarix unit, motion detection settings depend on the resolution of the primary stream. If the resolution is changed, the Archiver will resend the motion detection settings to the unit When using a Sarix unit, the Motion off threshold setting has no effect, as this setting does not exist for Pelco Sarix units When using a Sarix unit, Hardware motion detection is not supported on streams with a resolution of 640x When using dual streams on a Sarix unit, the unit resources are shared between the streams and the primary stream has priority over the secondary stream When using dual video streams on IE30DN and IDE20DN units, the Video Quality setting only keeps the primary stream configuration. As a workaround, the primary stream must always have a higher Video Quality setting than the other streams When using dual streams on a Sarix unit, the video resolution of the second stream cannot be changed without first setting the primary stream video resolution to the desired value Multicast streaming in H.264 is not supported Known issues None Sharp Limitations 8907 Sharp Integration: The Quality presets are displaying wrong fps rates Video quality settings are not supported for container streams Motion detection is not supported for container streams Only software motion detection is supported for context cameras Firmware upgrades are not supported Video attribute settings are not supported Signal lost/recovered events are not supported. 29

Known issues None SightLogix Limitations When using a SightSensor unit, any changes you make to the frame rate will not be automatically updated in a Live Viewer tile or in the Config Tool Live video window The SightTracker unit does not support motion detection Known issues None Sony Limitations 536 Sony: RZ-50 and CS-50 units are lost when switching from Multicast to Unicast. Workaround: set the unit to Multicast or Unicast only Your video stream may freeze for one second when motion on recording is triggered on the first channel of an EX104 encoder Only Generation 2 units support unit motion detection in MPEG 4, such as SNC P1, SNC RZ25, and SNC DF Signal lost and recovered events are not supported on any SONY unit Audio IN is only supported in unicast for Type 2 and Type 3 units The following first generation units do not support input pins: SNC-RZ30N, SNC-RZ30P, SNC-Z20N, and SNC-Z20P In order for the output pins to work, certain units such as the SNC-RZ25N may need to be rebooted after being added to Omnicast When using a Sony unit for edge analytics: No events are received if the unit s Web page is open When using a Sony unit for edge analytics: Configuring your unit will trigger a reboot When using a Sony unit for edge analytics: Sony third generation units have built-in Unattended Object Motion and Moving Object Detection When using a Sony unit for edge analytics: Sony fourth generation units have built-in Moving Object detection only Sony 5th Generation: A Video analytics event from a unit that supports VMF object search, will appear as a Video analytics event in Omnicast, and is described as a VMF event. 30

24846 Sony 5th Generation: Only two streams of each video format (H.264, MPEG-4, and MJPEG) are supported by Omnicast. 31

24847 Sony 5th Generation: When using the Copy configuration tool, the camera configuration is contingent on the unit configuration. Therefore, you need to copy your unit configuration before copying your camera configuration Sony 5th Generation: The minimum PTZ Get Position is three seconds regardless of the value specified Sony 5th Generation: Using the free look in the PTZ controls may be slow if you have the Automatic refresh option enabled Sony 5th Generation: When using the Absolute Zoom position, you only have access to the Optical Zoom range. If you want to have access to the Digital Zoom range, you need to use the free look PTZ control Sony 5th Generation: Only the first codec listed in the unit s video codec web page can use Multicast. Any other codecs listed can only use Unicast or TCP Sony 5th Generation: If a display resolution or frame rate is not supported by a camera, it will use the next best resolution or frame rate available. This change will not be reflected in Omnicast Sony 5th Generation: Changing video streams can cause delays of up to four seconds. This is problematic when working with a sequence that has short intervals Sony 5th Generation: When using an SNT-EX104 or SNT-EX154 encoder, only the first of the four channels supports input and output pins. However, all four channels support audio input and output pins Sony 5th Generation: The PTZ Absolute tilt values have a limited range of -15 degrees to 90 degrees regardless of what your unit supports Sony 5th Generation: When dual streaming, compression settings that use a lot of bandwidth may cause the secondary stream to be disabled by the unit The Maximum image size of 1920x1440 is not supported in Omnicast for the SNC-CH240 and SNC-DH240 units When the Image quality is set to over 50% on the Video quality tab of the Config Tool, a 30 fps Frame rate cannot be sustained. As a workaround, lower the Frame rate The Maximum image size and unit Motion Detection settings must be configured using the unit s Web page Known issues If you upgrade the original firmware version (1.05) on a Sony SNC-DF50N unit, H.264 software motion detection may not work. 32

7.24 Teleste Limitations Only MPEG-4 streams are supported Uses only eight of the available 16 streams (the first two streams of each of the four DSP processing units) Video configuration restricted by the processing unit resource limitations, which are monitored by the unit configuration tool Known issues None Toshiba Limitations Software motion detection is not supported for MPEG-4 streams M-JPEG streams are not supported in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R Known issues 4871 Toshiba IKWB15A: If the unit is discovered with the wrong username/password, the video will show waiting for signal. Solution is to remove the unit from the Archiver and add it again with the right credentials UDP Limitations When working with an IPE5500 unit, some multicast transmissions are still occurring even though the network connection type is set to Unicast UDP Software Motion Detection is supported for MJPEG streams only Known issues You may have problems viewing an H.264 stream on IPE5500 and NVC1000 units. As a workaround, change the DWORD value for the Omnicast AVCodec_ErrorRecognition file to 0. 33

7.27 Verint Limitations Changing the resolution of the S1000W takes effect after the unit reboots The hue settings do not work correctly for PAL cameras Video cannot be displayed on more than one output of a 1504Rx The video encoder numbering is incorrect for S1604 in the CLI The frame rate is not preserved when changing the analog format from PAL to NTSC With the S1704, S1708, S1712, S1724, S1950 and S1970, you cannot perform a firmware upgrade directly from Omnicast. The workaround is to use the corresponding SConfigurator for upgrading the firmware With the S1708, S1712, S1724, S1950, and S1970, software motion detection does not work when using MPEG 4 ISO with the firmware listed in the compatibility matrix Rediscovering a Verint unit will cause it to go offline twice before it is rediscovered correctly with of all its associated entities S1500 or S1502 may reboot when using a low frame rate with the default bit rate (25 kbps) while there is a lot of motion events being triggered When dragging a live video over a Playback sequence on a decoder, the live video is not displayed correctly Modifying the Bit rate in the Video quality tab of the Config Tool has no effect on video in H Software motion detection is not supported in H.264 using CABAC In order to receive hardware motion detection events, it is recommended that you use the primary H.264 stream as your recording stream Known issues None Vivotek Limitations 3622 Vivotek 7135/7137: After upgrading Omnicast, the configuration will need to be updated using the Reload button in the Config Tool Only MPEG-4 streams are supported Known issues None. 34

8 General Operational Limitations 299 No event is displayed in the event pane of the Webclient. 499 Exporting a sequence with audio in ASF will only work if the audio sampling rate is 8Khz. 541 Virtual PTZ from a Hardware Matrix does not work after a Virtual Matrix failover. PTZ needs to be recreated With IP Filtering on, when a connection is refused, no other connection through another Gateway will be attempted after a failover Two different versions of a client plugin cannot co-exist on the same machine When the system generates more than 200 events per second, the filter "show all event" in the Live Viewer should be turned off Playback alarms do not resume after an Archiver failover The WebClient does not work when the Omnicast Server is installed on Vista 64-bit SP1 and IIS running in 64-bit mode. Workaround is to set IIS to run in 32-bit mode Video playback does not work when it is being redirected by more than two Omnicast Gateways Federating speaker entities is not supported The Visual C SP1 Redistributable prerequisite does not install correctly on a Japanese operating system After an installation, the Remote Live Viewer and the Barco Wall plugins are not available as a result of a wrong value in the registry. As a workaround, change the registry value to OmnicastClientplugins The application crash when playing a still frame alarm from the Sharp's container stream The Media Gateway always displays video as a CIF resolution regardless of the resolution you selected in the Video data format tab The audio encoder and audio decoder may not work properly on federated units When using the Single-Click Archive Player, the Language Tool does not work. 35
