PRE-INSTALLATION CAUTIONS/TES: CAUTION Dealer installation recommended. This installation instruction will reference the service manual. Cut the excess cable tie(s) as flush with the head as possible. Face head of cable tie away from sheet metal and other objects. Use caution when removing/re-installing interior components to avoid damage, scratches, or breaking of mounting clips. TE This is a universal installation kit so all parts may not be used. Refer to the vehicle specific SAT radio Installation Instructions on ASIST.NET for further information. Ensure the Owners Manual and Quick Reference Card are placed in the customers glove box. Check the customer's ipod to make sure it has the most current software version before starting the install. 2 6. TOOLS & MATERIALS REQUIRED:. Plastic Pry bar 2. PGF Stick 3. Phillips screwdriver (#2) 4. Drill 5. /8, /6 drill bits 6. Electrical tape 7. ¼ driver w/ 0mm socket 8. Diagonal Cutter 7. CRITICAL INSTALLATION STEPS: () Care should be taken when removing Instrument Finisher E to avoid scratching nearby trim panels. (2) The module should be mounted on the flattest portion in the mounting area. 8. 3 9. VEHICLE PREPARATION: () Apply parking brake. (2) Record the customer radio presets. Preset A B C (3) Make sure that the shift lever is engaged in the "P" position. Turn the ignition switch OFF (5) Open engine hood. (6) Disconnect the battery negative terminal to prevent short circuits during installation. (7) Remove the following interior parts as shown in Fig. 2 (Refer to vehicle service manual) a) RH Glove box housing (detach illumination light) b) Instrument Finisher E c) Cluster Lid C Fig. 2 a) b) c) Metal Clip Clip Pawl Screw 3/9 999U7 4U00II [N] 5/24/07

4 0. CABLE ROUTING (ipod GATEWAY & SATELLITE RADIO): main harness Fig. 3 VERSA () Disconnect main harness and N-Bus connectors from head unit. Fig. 3 foam tape (2) Attach connectors of ipod gateway harness (999U7- VT000) to the head unit and main harness. N-Bus harness (3) Route other end of the ipod gateway harness towards the ipod gateway module mounting location behind the passenger kick panel. Fig. 4 Attach the connector of the satellite radio harness (999U7-VT00, for factory install SAT radio only) to the disconnected N-Bus behind the head unit. Fig. 4 & 5 harness routing (7) Loosely secure the harnesses to the existing harnesses with three (3) cable ties. They will be cinched tight later after routing the ipod cable. 5 Fig. 7 screw to attach ground cable (8) Bundle the harnesses leaving enough room to connect to the module. Fig. 7 (9) Loosely secure the bundle to the corrugated tubing. It will be cinched tight later after routing the ipod cable. (0) Take the ground wire tapped off of the N-bus harness and route up to screw above. CABLE ROUTING (ipod CABLE): detail of area in Fig. 9 Fig. 8 VERSA () Drill a /8" pilot hole 20mm +/-2mm (.75in) from the rear edge of the notch and 20mm +/-2mm (.75in) from the right side edge of the box. Open up the hole to /6". Fig. 8 & 9 hole in glove box front of glove box (2) (3) Start routing ipod cable from inside of glove box with DIN connector end (barrel shaped). Route out of glove box through the drilled hole. Fig. 9 Place split grommet over wire and insert into drilled hole in glove box. Fig. 9 Fig. 9 20mm Route ipod cable to the module mounting location along same path as previously routed harnesses and through the loosely attached cable ties. 20mm Fig. 0 (5) Route the other end towards the small metal tab on the vertical metal beam. 7 2. ipod GATEWAY MOUNTING: label Fig. () Using the provided alcohol wipe, clean the bottom of the module and mounting location. Fig. (2) Attach provided double-sided tape to bottom of module. connectors (3) Remove the tape liner. Attach module to the sheet metal. It should be placed on the flattest portion of the sheet metal above the large hole. Fig. label Fig. 2 Apply equal pressure to the module for at least 20 seconds. Let the module sit for 5 minutes to ensure good adhesion before applying any pressure. (5) Connect harness/cable to the ipod module. 8 3. OPERATION CHECK: () Connect the battery negative terminal. (2) Turn vehicle ignition switch to the "ACC" position. (3) Reference the vehicle specific Satellite Radio Installation Instructions for further information. If Satellite radio was part of installation turn radio on then select satellite radio mode. Acquiring (Sirius) or Loading (XM) will display for a while. If not, move vehicle to outside and try again. If Satellite radio was part of installation tune to preview channel (XM: channel "" / Sirius: channel "84") to make sure receiving preview channel correctly. For Sirius tuner installations the preview channel may not be accessible. For further information reference the Operation Check section of the vehicle specific Satellite Radio Installation Instructions. (5) Confirm proper audio operation. (AM / FM / SAT / TAPE / CD) (6) If no ipod is present the head unit display should show " IPOD". If an ipod is connected to the system a check mark should be displayed on the ipod screen and audio should start playing in 5-20 seconds. (7) A full diagnostic tree is available on the next page for troubleshooting the system. 4. REINSTALLATION OF REMOVED PARTS: () Re-install all removed vehicle parts referring to the service manual for the vehicle. (2) Clean interior of vehicle. CAUTION Use caution when re-installing interior components to avoid damage, scratches, or breaking of mounting clips. Refer to the vehicle specific service manual for more information. 5. FINAL INSPECTION: () Inspect the vehicle interior and exterior for damage. (2) Confirm proper operation of vehicle systems. (3) Reset radio presets to the recorded settings. If equipped, verify proper sunroof operation and perform the reset procedure if necessary. Refer to Service Manual requirements. (5) Place the Owners Manual and Quick Reference Card in the customers glove box. (6) Check the trim for a proper flush fit after re-installing the interior components. 8/9 999U7 4U00II [N] 5/24/07

9 NISSAN IPOD INTERFACE DIAGSTIC FLOW CHART. Verify ipod module is installed by looking in glove box for ipod cable. 2. Confirm the audio system is otherwise OK (AM/FM/CD works normally). Can SAT be selected on the audio system? Push the SAT button if present. If no SAT button, push Radio. SAT is shown on the audio display. After pushing Radio, display says AM/FM/AM Check connections to ipod & SAT modules Fix Connections Connections Okay? See service bulletin for Nissan Satellite Radio Diagnostic Information Does radio show: RADIO ID IPOD? Check connections to ipod & SAT modules Connections Okay? Fix Connections Update ipod software to the latest version Is an ipod connected? Connect ipod Does ipod have checkmark screen? Is music playing from ipod? No further diagnosis needed Disconnect & reconnect ipod Cycle Ignition Replace ipod module Does ipod have checkmark screen? Reconnect ipod Is music playing from ipod? Is music playing from ipod? TE: When the ipod battery is very low, it is possible that the system will not be able to charge it. The system may not work at all in this case.
