Insulate the coupled connectors with felt tape. 23. Secure the antenna leads to the roof interior with felt tape. Figure 8 P C. Installing the SDAR control module 1. Mount the SDAR control module to the front of the CD changer bracket with three 8-mm nuts from behind (Figure 9). Figure 9 P Find the D2B adapter harness in the installation kit (Figure 10). Improper handing of optical fibers can damage the fibers. Damaged optical fibers can cause component malfunction. Handle optical fibers with care to prevent cuts, nicks, abrasions, and crushing. 2 3. In the CD changer compartment, find, taped to the vehicle wiring harness, the: SDAR antenna leads (A, Figure 11) SDAR power supply cable (B, Figure 11) 4. Remove the tape and plastic wire protector from the D2B cable and save the wire protector (C, Figure 11). Note: In vehicles without the optional CD changer, find the D2B cable (C, Figure 11) and power supply cable (D, Figure 11) taped to the vehicle wiring harness inside the CD changer compartment. Figure 11 P Carefully disassemble the CD changer angled D2B connector (C, Figure 11) and remove the fibers. 6. Gently insert the red fiber end (A, Figure 12), removed from the angled D2B connector, into the adapter harness coupler (A, Figure 10). 7. Gently insert the clear fiber end (B, Figure 12), removed from the angled D2B connector, into the empty chamber of the adapter harness connector (B, Figure 10). Note: Place the plastic wire protector saved in Step 4 over the D2B cable with the clear fiber end (B, Figure 12). 8. Remount the CD changer. 9. Reconnect the power supply connector to the CD changer. 10. Connect the SDAR power supply connector to the SDAR control module (D, Figure 12). 11. Fold back the foam sleeves to expose the SDAR antenna lead connectors. 12. Connect the blue and white SDAR antenna lead connectors (A, Figure 11) to the like colored receptacles on the SDAR control module (E, Figure 12). 13. Fold down the foam sleeves over the coupled SDAR antenna connectors. 14. Connect the D2B connector (C, Figure 12) to the SDAR control module (A, Figure 13). Figure 12 Figure 13 P P

3 15. Bundle the power supply cables and D2B cables in the cable clamp (B, Figure 13). 16. Connect the D2B connector (B, Figure 12) to the CD changer (A, Figure 14). Tension on electrical wiring connected to moveable components results from inadequate compensation for movement. Tension on electrical wiring can cause component malfunction or failure. Allow enough slack in electrical wiring connected to moveable components to compensate for range of movement. 17. Carefully insert the D2B cables into the clips (B, Figure 14) and gently route them through the channels (C, Figure 14) on the bottom of the CD changer. Figure 14 P D. Version coding 1. Connect the Star Diagnosis System (SDS) to the vehicle and perform the version coding outlined below. 2. Set the D2B ring configuration to match that of Figure 15 by using the path: Control units > Information and communication > D2B COMAND, MCS, or Audio > Retrofitting of D2B components > Select F3: Restart optical ring > Select F2: Set the actual configuration of the D2B components > Select F2: Continue > Select F3: Match actual configuration with specified configuration > Select F2: Erase fault memory Note: The D2B ring configuration in Figure 15 is an example of a configuration including every component. Some installations will not include all the components shown in the example. If a component is not present, connect the preceding component to the component following the one not present. Match the D2B configuration to Figure 15. Failure to have the configuration match Figure 15 will result in erroneous system operation and/or intermittent malfunctioning of some or all components in the ring. Do not alter the configuration in Figure 15 to match the vehicle configuration. 3. Check the DTC memory of all installed components and the head unit. Investigate and identify any present DTC(s). Once identified, correct the source of the DTC(s) and clear the DTC memory. Note: Powering up the newly installed system prior to version coding will set errors in the D2B ring configuration. Ignore these errors during the initial DTC check. If, after clearing the DTC(s), they return in the next step, a configuration error is present. Locate and correct the error. 4. Confirm no new DTC(s) are present in the D2B system group. 8

4 Figure 15 P E. Final assembly and function testing 1. Verify proper Satellite Radio operation per the following checklist. Audio is functional (radio and CD changer) Sirius preview message is heard when Satellite Function is selected on the head unit¹ ¹The vehicle must be in a geographic area that allows reception. 2. Reattach the headliner to the roof at the rear, center retainer clip. 3. Reinstall the paneling at the rear of the roof interior. Refer to WIS document AR68.30-P-4470GH, Remove/install rear roof frame paneling 4. Reinstall the dome lamp. Refer to WIS document AR82.20-P-0113GH, Remove/install rear dome lamp 5. Reinstall the right side third-row seat, if so equipped. Refer to the Owner s Manual for instructions on reinstalling the third-row seat. 6. Reinstall the right, rear grab handle. 7. Reinstall the cover for the cargo net mounting on the right side. 9
