2 Introduction: The XPages Social Enabler toolkit allows users to connect to social network and REST services from XPages applications. Connectivity for Sametime is also part of the XPages Social Enabler and you can add Sametime LiveName on your applications to show Sametime status and initiate Sametime communication from it. Description: This lab will show you how to configure and authenticate with a Sametime endpoint from a sample XPages application, Discussion XL application and how to add Sametime LiveName component on the application page. Objective: This lab will explain the following tasks: Configure application to access a Sametime endpoint Configure application to authenticate with a Sametime endpoint Add Computed Field and Sametime Widget control to show status of myself and my buddies Upon completion of this lab, you will be able to configure a application to interact with a Sametime endpoint, and show Sametime status for users on your application. 2

3 Procedure: STEP UP DiscXSE04.nsf is the application used for this lab and WebSecurityStore.nsf is the token store database, which was created in part1 of this lab. Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Launch the Domino Administrator client (use the password 'passw0rd'). Open DiscXSE04.nsf in the Administrator client (from the Lab files). Copy DiscXSE04.nsf to ICSQS/ICS/IBM (File -> Application -> New Copy...). Step 4 Step 5 Step 6 Open WebSecurityStore.nsf in the Administrator client (from the Lab files). Copy WebSecurityStore.nsf to ICSQS/ICS/IBM (File -> Application -> New Copy...). Close all applications. 3

4 CONFIGURE A SAMETIME ENDPOINT To use the XPage Social Enabler toolkit, an application needs to know which token store to use, where the endpoint is and a way to authenticate with the endpoint. Step 7 Step 8 Launch the Domino Designer client (DDE) Open DiscXSE04.nsf from ICSQA/ICS/IBM by selecting File -> Open -> Lotus Notes Application from DDE menu. Step 9 Step 10 Open the Navigator view by selecting Window -> Show Eclipse Views -> Navigator from DDE menu. From the Navigator view, open faces-config.xml in WebContent\WEB-INF folder and add XML for the SametimeBasic managed-bean definition from Lab7_part4_faces.config.txt. The new content is added after connectionsbasic definition before AUTOGEN. These managed-bean settings will be used by the Social Enabler APIs to locate the token store and Sametime server endpoint. Sametime Proxy server located at in the lab environment. Token Store definition ( PwdStore bean) was already created in the previous part. If you used a different name than WebSecurityStore.nsf, please modify the XML to reflect the name. 4

5 Step 11 Step 12 Save and close faces-config.xml. From the Navigator view, open xsp.properties in WebContents\META-INF folder and verify the following property is configured. This setting is already configured in part1. xsp.library.depends=com.ibm.xsp.extlib.library,com.ibm.xsp.extlibx.library Step 13 Also add the the following property at the end of xsp.properties. extlib.endpoint.sametime=sametimebasic This property defines a reference for sametimebasic managed-bean, which was defined in faces-config.xsml in the previous steps. 5

7 CREATE XPAGE AND CUSTOM CONTROL FOR AUTHENTICATION XPages Social Enabler provides basic authentication for Sametime server. We will create a Custom Control for the authentication. Step 15 In the Application view of DDE, create a new custom control named sametimeauth. Step 16 Review the custom control source from Lab7_part4_sametimeAuth.txt. The prepared Custom Control code is designed to show username and password fields, and login button. The script code for button onclick event will create an endpoint object and call login() method to log in Sametime. Step 17 Replace the source of sametimeauth custom control with the content of Lab7_part4_sametimeAuth.txt, or design your own custom control that provides the same functionality. Save and close the custom control. 7

8 Step 18 Save and close the sametimeauth custom control. CREATE A XPAGE TO LOGIN TO A SAMETIME ENDPOINT Step 19 Create new XPage named sametime. Step 20 Review the XPage source from Lab7_part4_sametime.txt. The XPage is similar to the alldocumentsview XPage (layout) but using sametimeauth custom control to display our authentication page. Step 21 Replace the source of sametime XPage with the content of Lab7_part4_sametime.txt, or design your own XPage that provides the same functionality. 8

Open DiscXSE04.nsf on your browser with the following URL and authenticate with following username and password to open Discussion XL application on Domino. username: password: asingh passw0rd Step 27 Step 28 On the left navigation menu, click Sametime. Authenticate for Sametime with using the following user: username: password: asingh passw0rd 10

11 SHOW MY SAMETIME STATUS In the following steps, we will add a Computed Field to show my own Sametime status as LiveName Step 29 Step 30 Open sametime XPage and select source tab. Review the XPage source from Lab7_part4_sametime_mystatus.txt, and insert it just after the sametimeauth custom control (<xc:sametimeauth></xc:sametimeauth>). 11

12 This XPage source contains Sametime Client control. This control loads the Sametime resources to render Sametime widget with the page. In this code example, Computed Field control with contenttype="xs:st.livename" attribute is used to show Sametime LiveName. My own user ID is retrieved Step 31 Refresh the sametime page on Web Browser and logged in Sametime again. Now your name is displayed with your Sametime status. You can try right click menu to start chat or other Sametime function. 12

13 ADD SAMETIME WIDGET TO SHOW MY BUDDY STATUS In the following steps, we will added Sametime Widget control in repeat control to display my buddies' Sametime status. Step 32 Step 33 Open sametime XPage and select source tab. Review the XPage source from Lab7_part4_sametime_buddylist.txt, and insert it just after the </xe:text> tag added in the previous steps. 13

14 Step 34 Refresh the sametime page on Web Browser and logged in Sametime again. Specify test users' user ID and names as the following in User ID and Display Name field, then click Add button. 15 Step 35 Now my buddies are displayed with their Sametime status. You can log in Sametime Web Client at the following URL with your buddy's User ID. You can change the buddy's status and see the updated status displayed on the Discussion XL application. 15

16 Summary: In this lab you learned out how to configure an application to authenticate with Sametime basic authentication endpoint, and you have added Computed Field and Sametime Widget controls to show Sametime status. With the same manner, you can add Sametime Realtime collaboration capabilities into your XPages applications.
