7 Support of PHP 7 New PHP version 7 offers better performance PHP 7 needs less resources PHP 7 will be the default PHP version for the next years But PHP 7 abandons a lot of existing methods from former PHP versions Several software libraries used by ILIAS code are not supporting PHP 7

22 Manual Assessment Purpose: Certify individual competences or knowledge proved in a face-to-face assessment or by related documents Use cases: Learner misses test and needs to be examined face to face by a tutor Manual assessment as alternative trigger for learning progress (of course or group).

24 Badges Purpose: Low-level certificate to prove a certain activity or achievement of a user Badge as persistent and platform-independent reward for individual commitment User can show his badges on Personal Profile or even outside ILIAS Use cases: Rewarding users that filled out their personal profile moderated a certain number of forum postings worked successfully as mentor a.s.o.

25 On-Screen-Chat & Messaging Server

26 On-Screen-Chat Purpose: Getting into contact with buddies, course mates and tutors in ILIAS quickly and on every screen Pushing communication among learners and between learners and tutors Use cases: Learner needs support by tutor and can contact him easily when online Learners can communicate in ILIAS without opening a chat room

28 Timeline in Courses and Groups Purpose: Time-related visualisation of activities and news in a course or a group Alternative presentation mode for course and group content Use cases: Implementing activity-focused course and group scenarios in which news and course/group activities should get high attention

30 Workflow Engine Purpose: Realising event-based processes that should run automatically in ILIAS but that are too specific to become an implemented feature Description of workflows in BPML 2.0 Use cases: Compliance workflows All kind of event-based mailings and reminders Preparation and execution of e-exams Event-based course membership limitations and many more

32 User Clipboard Purpose: Easy assignment of several users from user lists to other roles, groups or courses Use cases: Selecting users from several courses with a specific property (e.g. learning progress: not started yet ) and add them to a new course or role Selecting specific users and add them to several roles or groups
