CHAPTER 16 Cisco Prime CM enables you to generate comprehensive usage reports to: Identify problem areas and helps you to prevent future outages. Facilitate capacity planning for future deployment. It helps you to determine ideal locations and required endpoint types for deployment. Locate poorly utilized systems that could be moved for better utilization. Helps to determine return of invest on the video collaboration solutions. Cisco Prime CM reports can be classified into: Manual Reports, page 16-1 Auto-generated Reports, page 16-2 Manual Reports You can generate the following reports for the endpoints from the Reports tab. All Sessions Summary Report Summarizes session details for in-progress and completed sessions for the endpoints. This report contains details, such as directory number, session duration, average session duration, sessions with alarms, and so on. See Understanding the All Sessions Summary Report, page 16-4 to understand the data that are displayed as part of this report. You can view the list of all scheduled sessions from the Session Monitoring page (Monitoring > Session Monitoring). Endpoint Utilization Report Summarizes utilization of all endpoints. The utilization is calculated for completed sessions. See Understanding the Endpoints Utilization Report, page 16-5 to understand the data that are displayed as part of this report. No show Endpoints Summary Report Lists endpoints, which did not participate in the scheduled sessions. See Understanding the No Show Endpoints Summary Report, page 16-5 to understand the data that are displayed as part of this report. Cisco Prime CM allows you to these generate reports for a day (1d), week (1w), and four weeks (4w). You can also, generate report for a specified period (Custom) (see Figure 16-1). Figure 16-1 Reports Menu 16-1
Chapter 16 Auto-generated Reports A day (1d) One day reports contain data starting from 00:00 hrs of the current day to the current time (the time when you generate the report). That is, if you generate one day report on August 26 th at 16:00 hrs. The report contains data for August 26 th starting from 00:00 hrs to 16:00 hrs. A week (1w) One week reports contain data from the last seven days including the current day. That is, if you generate one week report on August 26 th at 16:00 hrs. The report contains data from 00:00 hrs of August 20 th through 24:00 hrs of August 26 th. Four weeks (4w) Four weeks reports contain data from the last 28 days including the current day. That is, if you generate four weeks report on August 26 th at 16:00 hrs. The report contains data from 00:00 hrs of July 30 th through 24:00 hrs of August 26 th. Custom Custom reports contain data from the 00:00 hrs of the start time to the 24:00 hrs of the end time. That is, if you generate reports from August 23 rd to August 26 th at 16:00 hrs. The report contains data from 00:00 hrs of August 23 rd through 24:00 hrs of August 26 th. You can export all report data in the CSV format. The Cisco Prime CM server generates the following reports: Weekly Endpoint Session Detail Report Provides details on the session statistics for all completed sessions for a week. Month-to-Month Endpoint Utilization and No Show Reports Provides aggregate monthly reports on the: Utilization of the endpoints. Non participation of the endpoints in the scheduled sessions. The weekly reports are generated on every Monday at 05:00:00 hours. This report contains the data for the previous week starting from Sunday 00:00 hrs to Saturday 24:00 hrs. The monthly reports are generated on the second day of every month at 08:00:00 hours. This report contains the data for the previous months. These reports are generated, based on the timezone configured by the admin user (Administration > User Preference). You cannot change these schedules. These reports are generated in the CSV format and it contains the details for the endpoints that were in the Managed state during the week. These reports are not generated by default. You must enable the generation of these reports in the System Configuration page (Administration > System Configuration). In addition, you can also enter the ID and SMTP server details to receive notifications from the Cisco Prime CM server. After enabling the generation of these reports, the following system jobs are created: Report_MonthToMonthEPUtilandNoShow_timestamp Used to generate monthly reports. Report_EPSessionDetailRecord_timestamp Used to generate weekly reports. The job status is displayed as Waiting in the Job Management page (Administration > Job Management). These jobs are persisted in the database with the predefined schedules. You can configure the total number of reports that you want to save in the Cisco Prime CM database, using the Administration > System Configuration option. By default, 50 reports of each type are saved in the Cisco Prime CM database. 16-2
Chapter 16 If you have not configured Cisco Prime CM to send notifications, you can access the reports using these URLs: Weekly Endpoint Session Detail Report SessionDetailReport_Fromdate_Todate.csv Where: FromDate is the beginning of the week; that is a Sunday. You must enter the date as YYYY-MM-DD. ToDate is the end of the week; that is a Saturday. You must enter the date as YYYY-MM-DD. For example: To view the Endpoint Session Detail report for the week of August 14, 2011, use the following URL: SessionDetailReport_ _ csv Month-to-Month Endpoint Utilization MonthToMonthEndPointUtilizationReport_YYYY-MM.csv Month-to-Month No Show Reports MonthToMonthEndPointNoShowReport_YYYY-MM.csv Where: YYYY is the year for which the report has been generated. You must enter the year as YYYY. MM is the month for which the report has been generated. You must enter the month in as MM. For example: To view the Endpoint Utilization report for the month of August, 2011, use the following URL: MonthToMonthEndPointUtilizationReport_ csv If you have configured to receive notifications, the notification is sent from the ID that you have configured on the System Configuration page: Report Type Type of the report; for example, Endpoint Utilization Report. Report URL URL for where you can download the report. The URL contains the hostname of the Cisco Prime CM server. We recommend that the Cisco Prime CM hostname is configured in the DNS server. If it is not configured, replace the hostname with the IP address manually and open the report. Report Duration Duration for which the report includes the endpoints details. Report Generation Date and Time Time at which the report was generated. Status Status of the report, whether the report was successfully generated or failed. See Understanding the Weekly and Monthly Reports, page 16-6 to understand the data that are displayed as part of these reports. 16-3
Understanding the All Sessions Summary Report Chapter 16 Understanding the All Sessions Summary Report The report contains the following details: Endpoint Name Local DN Number of Sessions Use (min) Average Session (min) Longest Session (min) Sessions with Alarms Ad Hoc Sessions Static Sessions Scheduled Sessions Name assigned to the endpoint for ease of identification. For the Unknown endpoints, if the endpoint name is not available, the IP address is listed. Configured directory number of the local endpoint Total number of sessions participated by the endpoint. The session may be ad hoc, static or scheduled. Total Utilization of the endpoint in minutes Average duration of a session in minutes. Longest session in minutes Indicates whether alarms were triggered during the session. Number of ad hoc sessions. Number of static sessions. Number of scheduled sessions. The following session details are listed for the selected endpoints in the All Sessions Summary report: Stat Time End Time Duration Remote DN Direction Session Type Session Structure Call Termination Security Resolution Alarm Severity Alarm Date and time when the session started. Date and time when the session ended. Duration for the session since the time it started. This time is calculated from the time the endpoints join the call. For point-to-point sessions, both the endpoints should join the session. Configured directory number of the remote endpoint. Direction of the session endpoints, such as incoming or outgoing. If an endpoint dials into a session, the direction is shown as outgoing. If a Cisco MCU, CTMS, or Cisco TS calls the endpoints and starts a session, the direction is shown as incoming. The direction is always with respect to an endpoint. Displays whether the session is ad hoc, scheduled, or static. Displays whether the session is point-to-point, multipoint, or multisite. Indicates how the session ended. Displays whether the session is secured or not secured. Resolution of the video display. Severity of session alarm. Session alarms, such as jitter, packet loss, latency, or call terminated. 16-4
Chapter 16 Understanding the Endpoints Utilization Report Understanding the Endpoints Utilization Report The report contains the following details: Endpoint Name Endpoint Model Sessions Use (min) Utilization (%) Name assigned to the endpoint for ease of identification. Model of the endpoint, such as ciscocts500, ciscocts3000. Number of sessions participated by the endpoint. Utilization of the endpoints in minutes. Average utilization of the endpoint. The formula used is: For system-defined (a day, week, four weeks) reports: (Total number of utilization in minutes / [maximum utilization * 60])*100 For custom reports: (Total number of utilization in minutes / [maximum utilization * 60 * number of days]) * 100 For a day: The maximum utilization is ten hours. That is, if the utilization is 120 minutes for a day, the average utilization for a day is 20% ((120/[10*60])*100). For a week: The maximum utilization is 50 hours. That is, if the utilization is 1500 minutes for a week, the average utilization for a week is 50% ((1500/[50*60])*100). For four weeks: The maximum utilization is 200 hours. That is, if the utilization is minutes for a month, the average utilization for a month is 90% ((10800/[200*60])*100). For a custom report: The maximum utilization is 7.14 hours per day. That is, if the utilization is 105 minutes over five days, the average utilization for five days is 4.91% ((105/[7.14*60*5])*100). The utilization is shown as 100% even if the utilization is more than 100%. Understanding the No Show Endpoints Summary Report This report is generated based on the scheduled completed sessions data. The report contains the following details: Endpoint Name Endpoint Model Total Scheduled Sessions Scheduled Sessions Occurred Name assigned to the endpoint for ease of identification. Model of the endpoint, such as ciscocts500, ciscocts3000. Number of sessions that were scheduled using the endpoint. Number of scheduled sessions, which the endpoint participated. 16-5
Understanding the Weekly and Monthly Reports Chapter 16 Number of No Shows No Show (%) Number of scheduled sessions, which the endpoint did not participate. Average of sessions that the endpoint did not participate (that is, Number of No Shows/Total Scheduled Sessions). The following details are displayed for a non-show session for the selected endpoint: Scheduled Date/time Session Subject Scheduler Date and time when the session was scheduled. Details on the session as provided by you at the time of scheduling a session. Details of the user who scheduled the session. Understanding the Weekly and Monthly Reports The Cisco Prime CM server auto-generates the following reports: Weekly Endpoint Session Detail Report Provides details on the session statistics for all completed sessions for a week. To understand the details on the session statistics, see Endpoint Statistics, page Month-to-Month Endpoint Utilization Provides aggregate monthly reports on the utilization of the endpoints as a percentage. You can generate the detailed endpoint utilization for a month, using the Custom reports. See Understanding the Endpoints Utilization Report, page 16-5 for further details. The average aggregate value is calculated by Total utilization for all months / 12 Month-to-Month No Show Reports Provides aggregate monthly reports on the non participation of the endpoints in the scheduled sessions as a percentage. You can generate the detailed no show report for a month, using the Custom reports. See Understanding the No Show Endpoints Summary Report, page 16-5 for further details. The average aggregate value is calculated by Total no show for all months /
