4 Warning and Caution Warning: It is best to wear an electrostatic discharge (ESD) cuff when handling electronic components (Motherboard, RAM and Power Supply). Warning: Please ensure that the power supply is switched off before unplugging the power supply connector from the motherboard. Caution: Memory modules have a foolproof insertion design. A memory module can be installed in only one direction. If you are unable to insert the memory module, please reverse the direction and insert ii
5 1 Tools Required The tools required for servicing the Itona Md75 Thin Client are shown in Table 1-1. A. Star Screwdriver 1.7 mm B. Phillips Star Screwdriver C. Hex Nutdriver 5.0 mm D. Nose pliers Tools Required 1

7 2 Removing the Power Adapter 1. Turn off the power supply to the client. 2. Remove the power cord from the power cord anchor. Figure 2-1: Removing the Power Cord 3. Unfasten the captive screw holding the power adapter as shown in Figure 2-2. To replace the power adapter: Figure 2-2: Removing the Power Adapter 1. Use cable ties to route the new power adapter cable as shown in Figure 2-3. Removing the Power Adapter 3
8 Note: Use cable ties of the following dimension: Smaller cable tie used to route the power cable: 100 mm length. Longer cable tie used to route the power cable and the adapter: 200 mm length. Figure 2-3: Routing the New Power Adapter 2. Place the power adapter in the power adapter cradle. 3. Route the DC connector through the power cord anchor. Removing the Power Adapter 4
9 3 Dismantling the VESA Dock 1. Turn off the power supply to the client. 2. Remove all the cables connected to the client. 3. Unfasten the captive screw holding the Stand Side dock as shown in Figure Slide out the Monitor Side dock as shown in Figure 3-1. Figure 3-1: Removing the Monitor Side Dock 5. Using the Philips Screwdriver, unscrew the four screws holding the Client Side dock and the power adapter cradle as shown in Figure 3-2. Figure 3-2: Removing the Client Side Dock 6. Remove and retain the dock and the power adapter cradle. Note: Retain the screws for reassembly. 7. For reassembly, follow the above instructions in the reverse order. Dismantling the VESA Dock 5
10 4 Removing the Top Cover 1. Using the Philips screwdriver, unscrew the screw on the top and bottom strip. Figure 4-1: Unscrewing the Top and Bottom Strip Screws 2. Slide out and remove the top and bottom strip as shown in Figure 4-2 Figure 4-2: Removing the Top and Bottom Strip Removing the Top Cover 6
11 3. Slide and remove the side mask as shown in Figure 4-3. Figure 4-3: Removing the Side Mask 4. Using the Philips screwdriver, unscrew the six screws holding the aluminum top cover as shown in Figure 4-4. Figure 4-4: Unscrewing the Aluminum Top Cover Screws Note: Retain the screws for reassembly 5. Remove the aluminum top cover. 6. For reassembly, follow the above instructions in the reverse order. 12 5 Replacing RAM 1. Remove the power cord and top cover as described on page Apply isopropyl alcohol on the glue holding the DDR3 RAM; pull the glue out using nose pliers. Figure 5-1: RAM Socket Clips 3. Remove the existing RAM from the SO-DIMM slot by unlocking the holders and pulling it outward. Figure 5-2: Removing the RAM Module 4. Place the new DDR3 RAM in the SO-DIMM slot. Note: Ensure that the new RAM is of the same specification as the existing RAM. 5. Slide the RAM into place until the clip snap-fits at each end of the SO-DIMM socket. Replacing RAM 8
13 Note: You will hear a distinctive click sound, indicating that the DDR3 RAM is correctly locked into position. 6. Apply hot glue on the DDR3 RAM holder using Hot Glue Gun to hold the RAM in place. 7. Replace the top cover as described on page 5 and connect the external cables. Replacing RAM 9
14 6 Replacing the Flash 1. Remove the power cord and top cover as described on page Using the star screwdriver, remove the two screws holding the Solid State Drive (SSD). 3. Gently pull the SSD from the socket, as shown in Figure 6-1. Figure 6-1: Removing the SSD 4. Place the new SSD in the socket and press to snap-fit. Note: Ensure that the new SSD is of the same specification and has the correct software image installed on it. 5. Replace the top cover as described on page 5 and connect the external cables. 15 7 Replacing the Speaker 1. Disconnect the speaker cable from the motherboard as shown in Figure 7-1. Figure 7-1: Removing the Speaker Cable 2. Using the star screwdriver, unscrew the two screws holding the speaker as shown in Figure 7-2. Figure 7-2: Unscrewing the Speaker Screws Note: Retain the screws for reassembly Replacing the Speaker 11
16 3. Push the speaker out of its slot as shows in Figure 7-3. Figure 7-3: Removing the Speaker 4. Replace the old speaker with a new one. 5. Using the star screw driver, fix the new speaker in its place. 6. Connect the speaker cable into the speaker port. 7. Replace the top cover as described on page 5 and connect the external cables. 17 8 Removing the Front Panel 1. Gently pull the bezel tabs outward on both the top and bottom strips simultaneously. Figure 8-1: Removing the Bezel Tabs 2. Push and remove the front bezel as shown in Figure 8-2. Figure 8-2: Removing the Front Bezel 3. Reverse the thin client to remove the side mask. 4. Unfasten the captive screw holding the Monitor Side VESA dock. 5. Slide and remove the Monitor Side VESA dock as shown in Figure 8-3. Removing the Front Panel 13

19 7. Remove the side mask as shown in Figure 8-5. Figure 8-5: Removing the Side Mask Note: Ensure that the position of the inlay card does not change when the client is reassembled. 8. Apply isopropyl alcohol on the glue holding the cables; pull the glue out using nose pliers. 9. Unplug the cables. 10. Using the star screwdriver, unscrew the screw holding the Front Panel. 21 13. Pull out the PCB from the Front Panel as shown in Figure 8-9. Figure 8-9: Removing the Front Panel PCB 14. Replace the Front Panel by following the above instructions in reverse order. Note: Ensure that the VXL logo on the side mask is positioned upright during reassembly. Removing the Front Panel 17
22 9 Replacing the Motherboard 1. Remove the power cord and top cover as described on page Remove the front bezel and the bottom side mask. Refer to the instructions 1 to 7 of Removing the Front Panel. 3. Apply isopropyl alcohol on the glue holding the cables; pull the glue out using nose pliers. 23 4. Unplug the Speaker and the Front Panel cables. 5. Using the star screwdriver, unscrew the two screws holding the Input/Output (I/O) panel. 24 Note: While replacing the motherboard, ensure that you connect the cables into the same ports from which you removed them. Do not connect the cable to the COM 3 Port. 8. Using the Phillips screwdriver remove the four screws holding the motherboard as shown in Figure 9-5. Figure 9-5: Motherboard Screws Replacing the Motherboard 20
25 9. Remove the motherboard from the cabinet as shown in Figure 9-6. Figure 9-6: Removing Motherboard 10. Replace the existing motherboard with a new motherboard. Note: Ensure that you use only Acrylic Coated motherboard as replacement. 11. Replace the supporting rubber cushions with new ones as shown in Figure 9-7. 26 12. Using the Philips screwdriver fix the motherboard using the four available screws. 13. Connect the cables into their respective slots. Refer to Figure 9-1 and Figure Replace the I/O Panel. Note: When replacing the I/O panel, ensure that you place it in the grooves provided in the chassis as shown in the following figure. 15. Using the Hot Glue Gun, apply glue to all the connectors. 16. For reassembly, follow the above instructions in the reverse order. Replacing the Motherboard 22
