7 to Siemens Controllers What attributes to this large difference: Control and Compact Logix Memory Usage Information: I/O Memory: In : every channel of an I/O card consumes 4 bytes In Siemens: Digital channel consumes 1 bit, while Analog consumes 2 bytes Examples: 16 point Digital Input Modules: Siemens = 2 bytes of memory = 64 bytes of memory 8 Channel Analog Input Module: Siemens = 16 bytes of memory = 32 bytes of memory Symbolic Tag Name Memory: requires 1 byte of memory per character in tag name which is rounded to the nearest 4 bytes. (The max tag name length is 40 characters) Example: Tag Name TankLevel1 = 12 bytes of memory consumed.
