14 A mx-u mx-p 3s 3w swith Series CalCulating rms thrust and velocity Servo motor atuator systems have two speed/thrust urves: one for ontinuous duty operation and another for intermittent duty. A servo system an be seleted aording to the total thrust and maximum veloity indiated by the ontinuous duty urve. However, by alulating the root mean square (RMS) thrust based on the appliation duty yle, you may be able to take advantage of the higher peak thrust available in the intermittent duty range. The RMS thrust must fall within the ontinuous duty region of the motor/drive and the appliation maximum thrust must fall under the peak thrust of the atuator. Use the following formulae when alulating the RMS thrust and veloity. When seleting an integrated servo atuator system, it is neessary to add a margin of safety to the thrust and veloity required to move the load. A brake may be used for safety reasons or for energy savings allowing the atuator to hold position when unpowered. Add SA to the ordering ode for the optional Spring-Applied / Eletronially-Released rake. (not available for servie part ordering) NOTE: The optional Spring-Applied / Eletronially-Released rake requires 24V power. It has a input urrent rating of.414 Amps. VELOCITY (in/se) ICR asi & ICR Plus system PoWer overloading Considerations For appliations with large load requirements, are should be taken to prevent the system from generating adverse amounts of power, resulting in overloading and possible failure of the atuator. Speeds and loads that exeed the amounts indiated in the graph will require the use of a regeneration resistor or some other means to ontrol exess regeneration energy. 19 Series Seletion Guidelines 1estalisH Motion ProFile Using the appliation stroke length and maximum veloity (or time to omplete the linear motion), establish the motion profile. For a ICR asi the fatory set aeleration and deeleration is N5: 22.2 in/se 2 (564 mm/ se 2 ), N2: 55.6 in/ se 2 (1411 mm/ se 2 ).
