24 ch.7: challenges (especially for SMEs) trends are set by large players consortia / alliances become increasingly important standards are proposed by consortia / alliances SMEs are vertical specialists in a work-sharing world, especially SMEs must be interconnected today, no decision can be taken in view of the charivari of standards there are possibility to start open developments ( growing islands ) There are many possibilities to prepare for M2M / IoT / Industry4.0, e.g. with R&D projects. 24
