Who Is Carlson Wireless? Since 2000, CWT has been providing mission-critical fixed-wireless communications systems for rural, remote and underserved areas throughout the globe. We believe that the world has evolved to where the digital divide is causing a development divide. We have optimized wireless technologies that will disrupt the fixed wireless service industry allowing affordable connectivity in multiple market sectors. 4 Outline White Space 101 Market Opportunities Technology Ecosystem Summary Copyright 2016 Carlson Wireless Technologies Inc. 4
Major New Opportunity: Dynamic Spectrum Access Cognitive SDR Radios can intelligently change frequency and bandwidth over a wide range of spectrum and not interfere with primary users Copyright 2016 Carlson Wireless Technologies Inc. 5
What is TV White Space Technology? And why is it important? The transition of Television from Analog to Digital around the world has opened up significant amounts of low-band unused spectrum known as TV White Spaces (TVWS). These vacant TV channels are capable of delivering broadband signals via non-line-of-sight (NLOS) through trees, foliage, walls and other obstructions and bend over hills. TVWS signals cover long distances (10-20 km radius) from a single antenna/base station to connect client radios. Other wireless alternatives require much higher CapEx for more towers and infrastructure costs and cannot provide ubiquitous coverage. TVWS offers a lower cost and much quicker method of connecting devices and users where wired infrastructure does not exist. Copyright 2016 Carlson Wireless Technologies Inc. 6

How the Geo-Database Works.. Device provides GPS location to Database Database provides clear channel list to Device Device chooses channels from available list Regulator Cloud Database FCC assigns frequency geography via database SW: tracks location of each TVWS radio SW: directs TVWS radio to open frequency Cognitive Radio: changes frequency as needed Copyright 2016 Carlson Wireless Technologies Inc. 8

Large % of TV Band is Unused 90+% of US has from 9 to 45 TV channels available Copyright 2016 Carlson Wireless Technologies Inc. 10
Why TVWS? NLOS performance.the physics Significantly increased range, 3x-5x Better coverage 6x reduction in APs Manage co-existence via database Access to additional spectrum 2.4 GHz coverage 500 MHz coverage Copyright 2016 Carlson Wireless Technologies Inc. 11
