20 Smart Licensing Overview
21 Recreating Cisco Licensing Smart Software Licensing is not just a new licensing tool. It transforms how you think about Cisco and the Software Lifecycle Management. Limited View Customers do not know what they own. PAK Registration Manually register each device. Unlock with license key. Device Specific Licenses specific to only one device. Node Locked You cannot use more than you paid for. Complete View Software, services, devices in one easy to use portal. Easy Registration No PAKs. Easy activation. Device is ready to use. Company Specific Flexible licensing, use across devices. Pooled Add users and licenses as needed.
22 What is Cisco Smart Licensing? Cisco Smart Licensing is a new way of thinking about licensing at Cisco that is being applied to all products Instead of DRM or Node Locked licensing its a Software Inventory Management System that provides Customers, Cisco, and Selected Partners with information about Software Ownership and Software Utilization Commerce (CCW) Ownership Smart Account Usage Hello, I am Device-East5, I belong to [big-u.edu] and I am using 1x License Cisco Product I Have Purchased 5 additional Advanced Licenses for [big-u.edu] Hello, Device-East5 from [big-u.edu], you are In-Compliance BigU.edu I Own: 10 I am Using: 10

24 Methods of Communication Reference these documents for more information on using the satellite option: Data Sheet Satellite on Cisco.com Overview User Guide Install Guide FAQ The Cisco Product is configured to use Smart Licensing at install/provisioning time. Direct cloud access is the default option. Options Ease of use Security Policy Direct cloud access (default) Cisco product sends usage information directly over the internet. No additional components are needed. Access through an HTTP proxy Cisco Products send usage information over the internet via a Proxy Server. Any off-the-shelf Proxy will work. This synchronization can occur automatically in connected environments or manually in disconnected environments. Full Offline Access License Reservation Use copy/paste information between product and Cisco.com to manually check in and out licenses.
