Smart Licensing
What is Cisco Smart Licensing? Cisco Smart Licensing is a new way of thinking about licensing at Cisco that is being applied to all products Instead of DRM, licensing provides a Software Inventory Management System that provides Customers, Cisco, and Selected Partners with information about Software Ownership and Software Utilization Ownership Usage Commerce (CCW) Smart Account Hello, I am Device-East5, I belong to BigU.edu and I am using 1x Advanced License Cisco Product I Have Purchased 5 additional Advanced Licenses for BigU.edu Hello, You are Device-East5, belonging to BigU.edu and the Physics department you are In-Compliance BigU.edu I Own: 10 I am Using:

Introducing Cisco Smart Software Manager Customers self-manage Cisco licenses, based on consumption needs, in one Portal. Work pane Smart vs. Virtual The Smart Account is a single and systematic representation of a customer in Cisco's internal system. The Smart Account name displays here Virtual Accounts are pools of licenses and product instances. All new licenses are placed in a default Virtual Account. You can then transfer the licenses from that account to a different account. Each Work pane will have additional tabs for its specific activities Navigation pane View entire customer license and product inventories Understand license and product landscape Receive timely issue messaging Easily troubleshoot product and license inventories
Additional Information About A License License Details Additional license information is available if you click the License hyperlink Select the hyperlink of License type you want to investigate 2. Review Virtual Account Usage, License Expiration, product instances, and other License related events and history 1
1 Transfer Licenses to New Virtual Account 2 Transfer Licenses to the new Virtual Account 1. Select the Virtual Account that holds the Licenses you want to transfer 2. Navigate to the Licenses tab 3. Click the Transfer hyperlink next to the license type you want to transfer 4. In the resulting pop-up box, select the Transfer options and enter a quantity 5. Click OK to submit the transfer or click Preview to confirm details of the transfer before submitting (see next slide)
Transfer Preview - Transfer Licenses to New Virtual Account
Check Event Log Check the Event Log Confirm the license transfer by checking the Event Log for the originating or destination Virtual Account. The Event Log tab displays information about all of the events in a virtual account. From the Event Log tab, you can: 1. View a detailed list of all events 2. You can refine the list by using the filter and entering license type or product instance Export the table to a.csv file 3
Minor Alerts - Licenses 1 2 Corresponding hyperlinks allow you to take action from directly within the Alert 3 Minor Alerts The alert bar provides an overall summary of the alerts in the virtual account. 1. Select the Virtual Account that contains the Minor Alert you want to investigate 2. Select the alert tab in the top left of the Work pane 3. Take action on the alert Minor alerts are promoted to major alerts if not acted upon before the time limit is reached.
Register A Product Instance Step 1 Create a Token Create a token A token is used to register and activate a device and assign the device to the Virtual Account 1. Click an existing Virtual Account in the Navigation pane 2. From the General tab, click New Token 1 3. Enter a description of the token In the Create Registration Token dialog box. Enter the # of days you want the token to be valid for, and click Create Token button 3 2

Revoke Revoke: Once the product is registered it no longer uses the token as a certificate is pushed down to the device. To Revoke a token means to invalidate it so that any device that has the token but not a certificate will be rejected. 1
Register A Product Instance Step 3 Enter the configuration commands Smart Call Home should be configured on the device This is an example of a Smart Call Home configuration Smart Call Home configuration command: call-home contact- -addr sch-smart-licensing@cisco.com profile "CiscoTAC-1" active destination transport-method http no destination transport-method destination address http no destination address http
