1 Getting started guide This guide is designed to help you find all of the essential tools and on Schwab s new, premier real-time quotes and trading platform, customized specifically for the needs of advisors. The guide is divided into two sections. The first walks you through general that are accessible to all users. The second section explains trading-specific that require a subscription to one or more premium quote feeds to access. Click the boxes below to review that section. 3 Menu bar To get started, click the Tab and select the Schwab Advisor StreetSmart Edge TM link. You can save a shortcut from the interstitial popup to access the platform directly from your computer s desktop. Use the Settings function to customize your headline quotes. Use this button to create a new layout. You can save up to five by clicking the Save As function in the File menu. You can also drag and drop any layout tab outside the primary window. Use the Launch Tools function to add tools to a given layout. Use the Link function to synchronize your securities across multiple tools, so that symbol changes in one are reflected across all linked tools. You can unlink a tool as needed. 4 Stocks/ETFs This section gives you at-a-glance access to Level 1 and Level 2 quotes, as well as market depth, and time and sales. Click to shrink or expand the Level 1 quotes area. Right-click within the Level 2 quotes area to customize including the market depth setting, as well as fonts and colors. Right-click within the Level 1 quotes area to customize settings and specify the values that are displayed. The Calls/ Puts tab displays available option chains for the quoted security. 5 The Watch List The Watch List feature is designed to help you monitor a wide variety of streaming data points for a list of securities that you can choose and customize. Customize your column view by right clicking on the column headers. Click here to add a new tab. The Actions menu, accessible here, or by right clicking on the active tab, lets you open, save, and create new lists. Drag-anddrop symbol names to reorder your Watch List. 6 Charts The platform s charts are designed to help you understand the drivers behind a security s performance by displaying a vast amount of data in a user-friendly format. Use this button to create charts on multiple tabs within the tool. Use this function to turn synchronization between chart tabs on or off. Click to shrink or expand the Level 1 quotes area. Choose among a variety of timeframes. or set a specific date range Click to expand the right-rail section and access chart settings. 7 News Easily access breaking news from a variety of sources, all without ever leaving the trading platform. Use the upper section to scan headlines, select one to read the full stories in the lower section, and set news watches to be sure you don t miss vital information. A right-click will give you access to settings and additional options. Use this tab to see all news related to a symbol or news code for any period you specify. You can generate news feeds for stocks and/or news codes, or the tool can display news related to one of your Watch Lists. Choose to see all breaking news, or use a keyword filter to see only select subjects or companies. With this tab, access a variety of commentary from a drop-down menu that offers hourly updates on stocks in play, as well as daily and intra-day news briefs, and sector analysis. 8 This section provides an overview of the advanced trading available for users who subscribe to one or more premium Level 2 quote feeds. Click on one of the links below to learn more about that section. 9 Menu bar In addition to the standard menu bar available to all users, trading users can leverage additional, like account search and a customizable balances display. The search window lets you search by account number or name. After three characters, the system will offer suggestions. The balances bar provides a variety of account registration and balance information. You can customize the data points displayed, adjust other settings, and even hide the bar by right-clicking. 10 All In One Trade Tool This interface is designed to make it easy to trade your way, with convenient, customizable access to all of the tools you need. You can launch it from the Launch Tools menu. Note that these functions require a premium quote feed for access. You can enter both stop and trailing stop orders for equities or options. 11 Symbol hub The symbol hub is designed to provide similar functionality to the All In One Trade Tool, but it also includes charts and news feeds. Note that these functions require a premium quote feed for access. See the All In One Trade Tool page for more detail on other. You can integrate a news feed directly into the symbol hub view. The symbol hub view lets you integrate a dynamic chart directly into the interface. The chart carousel feature lets you review the performance of the last several securities you entered. 12 Account Details and Order Status The Account Details section lets you review order status, balances, positions, and transactions for an account in context. The Order Status tab lets you review the details of specific orders, or change, resubmit or cancel an order. The Action menu lets you filter this window to show all orders, all live orders, or a combination of live orders and today s activity. 13 Order Messages You can review the history of all order-related messages for the account from this view. In addition, the platform will automatically pop up a window when new order-related messages arrive. To customize this tool, right-click and select the Settings option.
