Symptoms: TPX will automatically attempt recovery if a subtask abends when the SMRT option "Error Recovery Option" is set to "RECOVER". This process works well unless a VSAM UINDEX chain becomes corrupted. In this case, TPX will attempt recovery, but will abend again if a userid in the range of the UINDEX chain attempts a logon. This can fill the z/os dump data sets. IMPACT: The Z/os dump data sets can fill up, and multiple abends can occur. The hanging virtual terminal can be made unavailable via TPXOPER. (Example - MOD VT=vtermid,UNAVAIL) 2.) The hanging virtual terminal can be inactivated in VTAM. Symptoms: If the SAF router has the high order bit on, TPX will not call the router and will allow signons. The most common return code seen with this condition is RC=00 which represents a normal signon condition. The problem only occurs when EKC's Security Tools Facility ETF/A is active. Impact: When the SAF router has the high order bit on, users will be able tologon regardless of the return code issued. Disable EKC's ETF/A or apply this fix.
