6 IFS approach I 1. Horizontal Every IFS standard asks for implementation of a traceability system. IFS Food, IFS Broker & IFS Cash & Carry also ask for supplier management and guarantee for the integrity & authenticity of raw material as well as correct labeling of the product. 2. Vertical IFS provides standards to certify every single stage of the food supply chain excluded the pre-farm-gate IFS approach II IFS has the standards to check every stage of the food supply chain exclude pre-farm-gate. IFS standards check if an auditee has implemented the necessary processes to guarantee product integrity & authenticity, correct labeling traceability IFS certified companies are able to participate at a quantitative chain of custody approach which combines the several levels of the supply chain. 12

7 IFS approach next steps IFS is going to develop a food integrity module to audit more in dept product- and process integrity at every horizontal stage of the supply chain.
