7 Search window Clicking the << symbol makes the directory panel slide away out of view to reveal more of the canvas. Click again and it slides back into view. Refresh To delete a file, right-click on file title and select Delete ToC.

9 To create a file, click on the Create New button or select New from the File menu. You go through a threestep wizard.

11 The title referred to here is your long-term outcome. If you have identified the outcome, enter the expression in the editing field. If not, enter a placeholder, like LTO Click on Finish when you re done.

12 The placeholder LTO now shows up in the outcome box itself and in the title field of the outcome editor panel.

14 You need to add more outcomes. Two ways: The add outcome command on the edit menu By right-clicking on an existing outcome and selecting add precondition

15 Lots of outcomes

16 To add outcomes 1st Method. Select Add outcome from the edit menu. An outcome in default blue will appear on your canvas. By clicking repeatedly on the Add outcome command on the Edit menu, you can create a stack of outcome boxes. Then you can move them where you want them, populate the boxes with outcome expressions, and then connect. Double-click on any outcome box to edit the outcome expression.

17 To add outcomes 2 nd Method. Right-click on an existing outcome box and select Add precondition. The new outcome is already connected to the original outcome. The connecting arrow in this diagram is the default, right-angled type. You can also use straight-line connectors, available from the edit menu.

22 Most objects on the canvas can be dragged and dropped. This includes Outcomes Comments Color legend box Text boxes Title box Outcome boxes can be dragged and dropped with the cursor. For other objects--comments, text boxes, color legend, and title box--you have to right-click to alternate between text entry mode and move mode. Right-click on the object and select either move or edit. To navigate on the canvas, click anywhere on the background (not on an object) and drag. Or use the scroll bars. Zooming Keypad zooming Mouse zooming Zoom in/zoom out buttons Zooming is very useful in TOCO because the objects are relatively large in default view and on many computers you can t see very many of them at once. Zooming out allows you to see the larger layout without having to individually reduce outcome box sizes. Connectors cannot be dragged and dropped. They move only with the outcomes they are connected to.

24 Outcome Editor Basics tab of the Outcome Editor is where you enter the outcome expression, description (if necessary), and select color. The Indicators tab is designed to help you identify the indicator and its targets.

28 Multiple Object Move Moving a group of outcomes at a time: Select the outcomes you want to move while holding down the shift key. The boxes will be partially screened from view, as shown here. Then, while holding down the control key (command key if MacIntosh), move the group.

29 Grouped Outcomes You can group outcomes together. To do this, create a new outcome. Shape the outcome box, using the sizing handle in the lower right corner, so that it s big enough to surround the outcomes you want to group together. Then drag the new outcome box over the group. At first the new parent box will obscure all the children. Click on the box and the child outcomes will appear. The title of the group box slides up toward the top edge of the box. You can give a name to the group using the Outcome Editor panel just as you would for any individual outcome. The group box is layered underneath the individual preconditions in the group so that they show up. You may want to make color choices that allow the individual boxes to stand out against the background, as in this example. You can move the individual boxes around within the group or out of the group. To move the entire group, grab the grouping box and drag it. All the children move with it.

33 Printing First, select Save to PDF from the File menu. Be sure to disable the pop-up blocker on your browser. If disabled, a pop-up window will ask you whether to open or save the file. Looks like this in Firefox browser on my Mac computer. The PDF has the canvas on the first page and all the other ToC data on subsequent pages. The PDF shows the entire canvas. Since most outcomes frameworks take up only a portion of the canvas, you will want to crop the unused portion before printing the diagram.
