3 Introduction This user guide provides useful information to access and login our egeogbook. It instruct users to use many e-textbook built-in e-features such as free-hand drawing pen, note-taking, highlighting, bookmarks and online dictionary. It provides guidance to interface with our GIS maps Google Earth to enable an immersive 360-degree visualisation of geographical issues in the virtual environment. Instruction for downloading an off-line copy of the e-modules is also available for self-study when an internet connection is not available.

5 Installation Guide Mobile Devices Hardware and system requirements The egeogbook is a web-based application, which is accessible with a multitude of common computing devices such as desktop/laptop computer and mobile devices (e.g. ipad and Samsung Galaxy Tab S). While it can launch in any of these browsers: Google Chrome (ver or above), Firefox (ver or above), Safari (ver. 5.0 or above) and Internet Explorer (ver. 8.0 or above), Google Chrome is our default browser on any computing devices because of its efficiency to launch and activate many build-in egeogbook functions and features. 6 Installation Guide It is advisable to install these free-of-charge software before they launch the egeogbook: Google Earth* for downloading the Google Earth Adobe Reader* for off-line reading. You can save and download your notes, drawings and highlights on your off-line egeogbook copy. Please note that the above software is free of charge. However, they render different installation versions for ios- and Android-operated mobile devices. AirServer for ipad users only. Install AirServer on teacher's PC or Mac computer. Teacher is free to move around in class while delivering their teaching directly from the ipad in hand. Students can also wirelessly beam their answers and drawings on their ipads to teacher's Mac or PC and from there to the projector or smartboard. Check out this to find out how you can deploy the AirServer to facilitate your teaching. AirServer also requires a nominal installation fee.

16 Menu Bar: Pen tool Click the Pen icon for freehand writing and drawing on the e-textbook

17 Menu Bar: Bookmark Click the Bookmark icon to mark this page as to open later for restudy.

18 Menu Bar Modules Click to access contents of the selected module from the Module icon.

19 Menu Bar Toolbox Click the Toolbox icon for account management

20 Menu Bar Toolbox The pull-down menu for Toolbox contains a list of account management and ebook functions

21 Menu Bar Message box Messages from teacher are arranged in chronological order Click the Message icon to view messages from your teacher

24 e-feature: Info Button Click an info button to read additional information or explanation at the spot

25 e-feature: Input Answer from Keyboard Click a textbox to activate a keyboard for text input

26 e-feature: Select Answer from Dropbox Click an answer box to activate a menu of choices Auto-checking will show the correct answer(s) for instant verification

27 e-feature: Drag and Drop Drag answers into their corresponding boxes. Incorrect answers will bounce back to their original positions

28 e-feature: Check Answer Click the Answer button to get suggested answers for instant verification

34 e-feature: Note taking Input notes 1. Click a word or a string of words on the screen and hold for about 2 seconds to activate the Take Notes button 2. which will appear at the bottom right corner of the screen

35 Input notes e-feature: Note taking 3. Click the Take Notes button to activate a keyboard for text input 4. Type notes and click Save when done

36 e-feature: Note taking Read notes 1. Click a word or a string of words with notes that have been stored previously 2. The corresponding notes will appear in a pop-up box

38 Delete notes e-feature: Note taking 2. Click Delete to remove the note 1. Click a word or a string of words with notes that have been stored previously to reveal its pop-up box 3. Click OK to complete the process

39 e-feature: Highlight Highlight text 2. Use the sliders to mark the word or string of words to highlight 1. Click a word or a string of words on the screen and hold for about 2 seconds to activate the Take Notes button shown at the bottom right corner of the screen 3. Click Take Notes to complete the action

40 e-feature: Highlight Remove highlight 2. Click Delete to remove the highlight 1. Click a word or a string of words that have been highlighted previously to reveal its pop-up box 3. Click OK to complete the process

43 e-feature: Viewing Maps/ Photos Click on a graph or a map with the icon to view a high resolution image

44 e-feature: Bookmarking a page Bookmark a page by clicking the green bookmark icon at the top right corner Remove a bookmark by clicking the red bookmark icon at the top right corner

45 e-feature: Viewing Bookmarks Click the Bookmark icon in the toolbox to manage your list of bookmarks or indexed pages

46 e-feature: Removing Bookmark Click this part to access the page that has been indexed or bookmarked Click this portion to remove the indexed page

47 e-feature: Interactive Maps Multi-layered maps are used to illustrate the spatial arrangement of places and the interaction between human and the environment Users can click on different map layers to view individual contents

48 e-feature: Google Maps Google Maps are used to display geographic location of a place in reference to its surrounding area

49 e-feature: Google Earth * Users need to download and install Google Earth on their personal device The virtual tour in Google Earth enables 360 degree visualisation of the landscape in three-dimensional representation

50 e-feature: Map Hypertext Labels Place names on a map are shown by clicking on individual locations and hidden with another click

51 e-feature: Calculation A calculator is provided for users to do simple arithmetic by clicking the calculator icon

52 e-feature: Voting Interactive learning activity facilitates discussion and sharing in class Users can cast their votes and the number of votes will be counted immediately

53 Offline Study Users can download an offline copy beforehand for self-study when wireless connection is not available 1. Click the Off-line Copy of the module from the toolbox

56 Field Trip Field trips by means of mobile learning devices are encouraged. User may use Wifi Positioning System (WPS) to display the locations, routes and tasks.
