7 Chapter 1: Introduction This section provides an overview of this manual and the prerequisites for migrating a Datacard ID Works 6.5 or Datacard IDCentre 6.5 project to Datacard TruCredential 7.1 or later software. About Migration Migration brings ID Works or ID Centre projects into TruCredential software. The production forms and card designs are imported. The migration process also identifies and attempts to connect to the database used by the ID Works or ID Centre project. The migration process completes most of the conversion work. However, due to the differences in the software applications, manual steps might be required to complete the process. Refer to Post-Migration Activities on page 7 for more information. Bar codes might display differently in TruCredential software than they did in ID Works software. Refer to the Bar Codes topic in TruCredential online Help to review bar codes. Before you migrate an ID Works or ID Centre project to TruCredential software, make sure that the new software supports your printer, camera, scanner, or other hardware. Refer to the Specifications chapter of the TruCredential Installation and Administration Guide for information about supported hardware. Custom code written for ID Works software cannot be migrated to TruCredential software. About This Document This document describes how to migrate projects from ID Works 6.5 or IDCentre 6.5 software to TruCredential software. It is intended for administrators who have experience with the technologies mentioned in the prerequisites or who have been trained by Entrust Datacard. Conventions Used in This Document The term ID Works project includes ID Works 6.5 projects and ID Centre 6.5 projects. Placeholder text appears in italic font. You replace the placeholder text with information that is correct for your environment. Example: Datacard ID Works to TruCredential Migration Guide 1

8 User interface text appears in boldface font. Example: When work is complete, select userid > Sign Out. This is an example of a note. Notes contain special information that you should be sure to read carefully. Support and Service Resources Go to entrustdatacard.com/support for information about getting support in your region of the world. Be prepared to access shipping documents (before installation) or the TruCredential software (after installation) to view software version and product key information. ID Works or IDCentre Software to TruCredential Migration Prerequisites You must have the following to complete the migration process: Projects in ID Works 6.5 or IDCentre 6.5 software that are exported to.iwx files. If the destination (TruCredential software) computer does not have ID Works 6.5 software installed, and if a Microsoft Access database is pointing to a drive letter that does not exist on the destination computer, then create the same drive letter on the destination computer. TruCredential software must be installed and running on the destination computer. You must be a TruCredential software administrator to complete the migration process. For best results: Configure the database used by the ID Works or ID Centre project in TruCredential software before migration. Refer to Configure the Database on page 5 for the steps to follow. 2 Introduction

9 Chapter 2: Export an ID Works 6.5 Software Project This section provides the information that you need to export ID Works 6.5 software projects to files that can be migrated to TruCredential software. Export an ID Works 6.5 Software Project ID Works 6.5 software projects are exported using the ID Works 6.5 Administrator application to bundle all components of an ID Works 6.5 software project into a single.iwx file. 1. Run Datacard ID Works software as an ID Works Administrator. 2. Select Tools > Export Projects. 3. From the list of projects available, select the projects that you want to export. 4. (Optional) To include magnetic stripe configurations, select the box for that option. 5. Click Browse and select the folder to which you want to export the project(s). 6. Click Export. Click OK when you see the success message, and close or minimize the ID Works Administrator application. Datacard ID Works to TruCredential Migration Guide 3

10 These ID Works 6.5 software design components are bundled in.iwx files: The production form, including images Card designs, including images Field connections The following are not included in the.iwx file: Saved Searches in ID Works 6.5 projects are not migrated to TruCredential software. 11 Chapter 3: Migrate ID Works Software Files Into TruCredential Software This section provides the information that you need to migrate exported ID Works software projects into TruCredential software. Configure the Database Configure the database used by ID Works software in TruCredential software before migration. The database names must be identical to migrate mappings into TruCredential software. The database gives TruCredential software access to the enrollments made using the ID Works or ID Centre project. If the database in embedded in the ID Works export file, you can configure the database after migration and then use the Field Connections page to connect it to the workflow and credential design. Follow these steps to configure a database in TruCredential software: 1. Select Settings > Settings > Data Sources > Databases. 2. Click Create to create a new database configuration. Refer to the Administration Chapter in the TruCredential Installation and Administration Guide for the steps to follow. 3. Save the changes. Migration Procedure Follow these steps to complete the migration: 1. Sign in to TruCredential software as an administrator. 2. Click Settings > Tools > Migration. 3. On the Migration page, click Browse and locate the folder to which you saved the.iwx file that you exported from ID Works software. Select one or more files to import. Click Open. 4. On the Migration page, select one or more options: Prefix project name to production forms and card designs Rename production form to workflow Rename card design to credential design Datacard ID Works to TruCredential Migration Guide 5

12 5. Click Import to begin the migration process. A migration summary dialog box displays information about the progress of the migration. 6. Click Close to return to the Migration page. The Migration page displays a table of all migrated projects with View icons for each project. View displays the migration summary dialog box. and Table 7. Important: Click Table to view details about each migrated project. It displays details about the migration, and tells you how to proceed to make sure that each migrated item is ready for use in TruCredential software. 8. Refer to Open the Workflow on page 8 to open the TC Field Connections page and verify or complete connections. Migration Notes When you migrate a project from ID Works or IDCentre software to TruCredential software, ID Works or IDCentre software is not required on the destination computer. If the photograph and signature field properties in ID Works or IDCentre software have the Storage option set as File select path, then you must manually copy the photograph and signature images to the TruCredential software computer, replicating the path. As an alternative, map a drive on the computer in which TruCredential software runs to the path where images are stored. You cannot use the name of an existing TruCredential workflow when you migrate a project. Migration is not supported in any of the following cases: An unsupported image format, such as Adobe Photoshop 3.0 (.psd) or Targa (.tga), is used for the Photo field in the Production Form. A project from a version of ID Works software earlier than 6.5 is not supported. The ID Works exported project file (.iwx) was renamed. Duplicate names for a production form (workflow) or card design (credential design) exist in the exported file. 6 Migrate ID Works Software Files Into TruCredential Software

13 Chapter 4: Post-Migration Activities This section provides the information that you need after the migration to TruCredential software is complete. Read this chapter completely before you open a migrated workflow or credential design. Map Data-Driven Workflows If a migrated workflow has data-driven elements, use the Field Connections page to map the List and Check box workflow elements to the credential design elements. This is necessary because TruCredential software requires that all elements are mapped, but mapping is optional in ID Works software. Refer to Open the Workflow on page 8 for the steps to follow. Do this mapping before attempting to open a migrated, data-driven workflow. Otherwise, you cannot save the workflow. Verify Field Connections When the ID Works project data source is configured in TruCredential software before migration, and migration is successful, connections between card design elements, workflow elements, and a database table are migrated. If you set up the data source after migration, make connections between credential design, workflow design, and database table or schema elements. Follow these steps to verify or correct the connections: 1. Sign in to TruCredential software as a designer or administrator. 2. Select Design > Field Connections to display the Field Connections page. 3. Select the migrated workflow, the corresponding migrated credential design, and the database table or schema. 4. Verify the field connections, or make the necessary field connections. Refer to the Field Connections topic in TruCredential online Help for the steps to follow. 5. Save the connections. 14 Verify Input Format Settings If input format settings for a Text element were used in ID Works software, open the migrated workflow in the Workflow Designer and do the following: Enter an Input format hint. Enter an Error message. Verify the Input format settings. Verify the Maximum length. Refer to the Input Format topic in TruCredential online Help for the steps to follow. Move Bar Codes to the Black Layer For machine readability, print bar codes using the Black layer. If a credential design includes a bar code, verify that it is on the Black layer, or move it to the Black layer. Refer to the Bar Codes topic in the TruCredential Online Help system for more information. Verify Font Sizes Font size is defined in an ID Works project in points, and font size is converted to pixels during migration to TruCredential software. For the best appearance of workflows and credential designs, review the appearance of all fonts. Update the font size if necessary. Transfer Externally Stored Files Move ID Works software photograph and signature files to the following locations: ProgramData\Datacard\TruCredential\Photos ProgramData\Datacard\TruCredential\Signatures where ProgramData is, by default, C:\ProgramData. Make sure that workflow elements that use a Storage option of Select Path or Use TruCredential Data Path open the files when you use the workflow for enrollment. Search for an enrollment to verify that graphic files open. Open the Workflow For all migrated workflows, do the following after mapping data-driven workflows: 1. Open the migrated workflow in the workflow designer. 2. Select the Personalize step and open Advanced properties. 3. Select a Job name identifier and click Save. 8 Post-Migration Activities

15 The job name identifier is useful to identify potential problems so that you can fix them. Create Saved Searches If you used saved searches with an ID Works 6.5 and ID Centre 6.5 project, create the search in TruCredential software. 17 Chapter 5: Differences Between ID Works Software and TruCredential Software This section provides information about the differences between ID Works software and TruCredential software. Property Differences Print job identifier: This is a card property in ID Works software; it is a workflow personalize step property in TruCredential software. The migration process assigns a default print job identifier. Data driven elements: When Graphic is the value of Data driven type for a migrated List or Check Box workflow element, the value of the Variable Graphic card element from ID Works software is used to configure the images in the migrated workflow.
