1 [Windows for calibration are open between 06/14/2017 6/21/2017 or 7/31/2017 8/7/2017] RECOMMENDED BROWSERS: It is highly recommended to use Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome browsers when working on the MyPGS platform. Internet Explorer and Safari generate errors in certain areas of the platform. Note: For better performance, keep your browsers updated. Click on the icons above to download the latest version of the browser. To Get Started 1. Log on to the My Professional Growth System (MyPGS) platform: Enter your single sign-on and password. 2. Click on the Resources tab located at the top of the page. Locate the 2017 Summer Calibration box. Click on Calibration Lesson Plan and review the teacher s lesson plan. Right click on Calibration Script, and select Save link as... from the dropdown menu. Select Desktop from the left navigation panel and click on the Save button (you will need this script for a later calibration step). 3. Click on the Certification tab. 2 Completing the Calibration Event 4. Standard 1 (Planning and Preparation) Evidence. Click on the Lesson Design Review activity. Click the Auto Create Notes button to move evidence from the Lesson Design Review to the notes library. Wait a few seconds for confirmation of Auto Tagging Process completion and click OK. 3 5. Standard 2 (Classroom Environment) and 3 (Delivery of Instruction) Evidence. Click on the Observation activity. Click on the Show button to view the video of the lesson. Click on the Play button to start video. Click to close video when finished viewing. To move the video around the page: click, hold, and drag the blank Title Bar to the desired location. 4 6. Open the Calibration Script document you downloaded onto your desktop in step 2. Select all text in the document and copy. Return to the Observation activity on MyPGS and click New Note. Paste the text you copied into the white textbox. Click on the Done button at the bottom of the textbox. You may extract text evidence from the script by highlighting an excerpt of text in the script. Click on New Note button from the popup menu. The excerpted text will appear in a new box. Tag (align) by clicking on the element represented. Click on the Done button at the bottom of the box. Continue highlighting and tagging evidence for Standards 2 and 3 (10 Focus Elements). Once you are done aligning and tagging evidence, click on the Back button to return to the Calibration Activities. 5 7. Standard 5 (Professional Growth) Evidence. Click on the Lesson Reflection (Optional) Review activity. Review the Lesson Reflection and click the Auto Create Notes button to move evidence from the Lesson Reflection (Optional) Review to the notes library. Wait a few seconds for confirmation of Auto Tagging Process completion and click OK. Click on the Back button to return to the Calibration Activities. 6 8. To begin rating evidence: Click on the Formal Observation Rating activity. Click the New Observation button. Use the information in the table below to complete the fields in Observation Details and click on the Save Changes button at the bottom of the box. Date of Observation Length of Observation 06/14/ minutes Type of Observation Grade Level Subject Classroom Visits Grade 5 ELA Review evidence for each focus element (Standards 1, 2, 3, and 5. Move from one standard to another by clicking on the squares on the top left. Review TLF Rubric for each element (click the blue text View Rubric at the bottom of the element evidence for each element). Select rating for each element. 7 Submitting the Calibration Event 9. Select Shared with Rating from the drop-down and click on the Mark Complete button. A green box with a C indicates completion! Thank you for your participation in this calibration event. Calibration results will be available during the week of August 14, Checklist Log on to the My Professional Growth System (MyPGS) and access the 2017 Summer Calibration resources from the Resources tab. Review the Calibration Lesson Plan and download the Calibration Script. Access the Calibration, Summer 2017 from the Certification tab. Auto create (auto tag) information from Lesson Plan Review activity. Enter notes (Cut and paste from script) into your Observation Notes Library. Align observation evidence with Standards 2 and 3 (use new note or split tag method). Auto create (auto tag) information from the Lesson Reflection Review activity. Go to the Formal Observation Rating activity. Rate all four focus elements in Standard 1. Rate all ten focus elements in Standard 2 and 3. Rate the focus element in Standard 5.
