1 FontWorks First Year Photo Album Play with different fonts to create a beautiful keepsake for your loved ones. FontWorks has numerous built-in fonts. You can convert an endless amount of TrueType fonts to embroidery designs, too. A personalized photo album makes a great gift for new babies, weddings, graduations, and more. 2 Supplies: FontWorks from Designer s Gallery Baby Lock Journey sewing and embroidery machine Photo album Ultra-Suede or felt Tear-Away Stabilizer from Baby Lock Embroidery thread Temporary spray adhesive At the Computer: 1. Open the program by clicking on the FontWorks icon on the desktop. 2. On the top toolbar, click on the down arrow below the Hoop icon and select the 180mm x 130mm hoop. 3. To create the first lettering design, follow the next set of steps: Click the Text icon on the top toolbar. Type in First Year in Text field. Place a checkmark in the TTF box. Click on the down arrow in the Font field and select the Gabriola TrueType font. If you do not have this font you can use any other TrueType font or you can download it from a TrueType font website. Many TrueType font websites offer free downloads. Change the Height to 30mm. Under the Style field, use the Standard Fill. 3 4. To create the second lettering design, follow the next set of steps: Click on the New Page on the top ribbon. Click on Vertical Text icon on the top toolbar. Type in your baby s name in Text field. In the sample, Annabelle was used. Remove the checkmark from the TTF box. Click on the down arrow in the Font field and select the Lazy Days font. Change the Height to 15mm. Change the Line Spacing to 5 (as shown in the illustration above). Click on Apply for the changes to be applied. 5. Follow the next set of steps to create the third design: Click on New Page on the top ribbon. Click on the Text to Stairs icon on the top toolbar. Type in 2014 in Text field. Change the Height to 15mm. Set the Spacing at -10mm. Set the Slant to -3. Set the Line angle to 45. {Designer s Gallery}FontWorks First Year Photo Album Page 3

4 6. To change the color on the letter designs, click on the color Palette tab in the Properties field and select a different color from the color choices. 7. Click on File Save As to safe all of the designs and send to the media source in the format that your machine will read. Give each of the designs a different name. At the Machine: 1. Hoop the stabilizer and lightly spray with the temporary spray adhesive. Place the ultra- suede or felt piece in the center of the hoop and finger press smooth. 2. Place the hoop on the embroidery unit. 3. Center the needle over the center of the fabric. 4. Embroider the design using the thread color of your choice. 5. Trim around the lettering on all three embroidered sections, leaving approximately 1 on all sides. 6.
