6 This pop up box will always appear when the applicant selects T2 or T3 informing them that if they wish to carry out works in an area that contains the above Road Engineering Assets a T2/T3 road opening licence is not applicable and they should be applying with a T1. If the works do not affect these assets the applicant selects Confirm. 6

7 Works Segments. Enter location description of works which should clearly describe the address/location. Enter the Road Segment Number. Select Add Road as required. 7

8 By clicking on this icon you can enter the GPS, ING or ITM co-ordinates which will centre the map to the location required as shown above 8

9 On the map you will see the Roads Schedule marked in black if you click on these roads a box will appear showing the Pavement Management System road information. It will give the following information, PMS Road Attributes, Last Resurfacing, Next Resurfacing, Impact Number 9

10 In order to draw your excavation point or trench on the map, zoom in, either scroll in or use the highlighted Zoom In button. As you continue to zoom in two additional symbols will appear underneath the Zoom In & Zoom Out, the first is a Polyline to draw a Trench, the second is an Excavation Marker to mark the excavation location. 10

11 If you wish to draw a trench you firstly click on the Polyline icon. Click on the first point of the trench and draw the trench. Click on a point to curve the live and continue to draw. Click on last point to finish the trench. 11

12 When the trench is drawn this box will appear looking for the surface details and excavation dimensions Note: Trench dimensions are not automatically linked to the marked trench. 12

13 If wish to draw an excavation you click on this icon and then click on the map where it is located as below. When marking an excavation point you will be asked for surface details and excavation dimensions similar to a polyline trench. 13

14 WORK DETAILS Note: All information is mandatory in this tab. The excavation area limits in square metres are shown here for a T2 or T3 application for that particular local authority, you select the appropriate licence type if the wrong licence is chosen MRL will alert you to this when submitting the application. 14

15 Enter Start Dates for commencement of works you may enter a start date earlier than the advanced notification however this does not guarantee you will receive the licence on this date. 15

16 When selecting Purpose of Works if the type of work being carried out is not reflected in the options given you select Other and you will be asked to give a description of the works. 16

18 Upload Map File of works location Choose both Excavation Contractor & Reinstatement Contactor. 18

19 If you wish for your own records an internal reference number can be entered. Select Next. 19

20 Traffic. Select Add Traffic Management Plan. NB: Option to utilise Traffic Management Plan Template Refer to Manual Ref:

21 Complete Mandatory Fields. NB: A minimum of one Traffic Management Inspection Routine must be completed. The time format must be hh:mm. It is not a requirement to attach a method statement however the facility is available here. 21

23 If additional PDF documents, drawings or images need to be attached they can be uploaded here. 23

24 The standard conditions for the local authority to which you are applying for the road opening licence will automatically be in this tab. 24

26 When submitting the application you will be given the option of selecting the licensing area for the local authority, if you don t know this select Confirm at which point you will be given a licence number. 26
