Executive Summary This project includes creation of the new design in the Drupal environment for for the S tanford L aw S chool Ce nter f or I nternet a nd S ociety ( CIS) a nd m igration o f th e e xisting co ntent into th e new design while still maintaining the archival structure of the site. The critical goal of this site is to let visitors find the information they want quickly. 2. Scope of work Based o n r eview o f t he s ite pr ovided by C IS V anguard Solutions and S ervices ( VSS) p roposes t he f ollowing scope of work to reach the goal set by CIS: 1. Upgrade existing version of Drupal (D6.9) to the most current available at the time of contract execution (current version D6.20). We do not recommend at this time upgrade to D7. Drupal 7 has been released only months ago and not all modules are available for Drupal 7 yet. 2. Create new visual design. Our recommendation is to preserve main logo and completely redesign layout and typography. VSS will provide two versions of design for preview and detailed designs for pages with selected version. VSS will need to work closely with the customer on design for specific pages. 3. Create new content types and review existing content types to establish relationships that will connect different content types to display information on pages as described in RFP (Appendix A). Entering information for new relationships based on current information will be automated where possible if customer will provide tagging logic, but customer might need to make some tagging where unclear. 4. Create/redesign pages as requested in RFP (Appendix B). VSS will work closely with the customer on layout of the pages and will build pages with flexibility to make layout changes easy for customer if requested. 5. Modify and merge existing Roles or create new Roles on the site to provide level of website access as stated in RFP (Appendix C). Administrator will be able to post as any user without having to share logins. Administrators will be able to block access to users but keep their blog posts active. 6. Configure content types to allow/not allow comments per content type. 7. Add Spam filtering modules. 8. Train staff on create of short URLs using native Drupal features with the following structure 9. Create printable versions of the page preserving ability to print page as is. 10. Integrate Google Analytics with the Drupal. 11. Optimize administrative theme for ease of use based on typical daily operations. 12. Keep downtime during migration to minimum using various scripts. 13. Create additional content types to move non-drupal (html) content on the site into Drupal for consistency of navigation and search optimization (Appendix D), or preserve it as is (per customer s request). 14. Provide system documentation, links to general Drupal training tutorials, system-specific tutorials and manuals and training sessions for staff. Page 2 of 7

Web site administration VSS will need staging space on the same server where CIS site is hosted to ensure that all settings in Drupal for the new site are available. 6. Proposed payment schedule Estimated date of completion is 16 weeks from the beginning of the project. Invoices will be submitted based on a milestone basic. 7 Appendix C: Website Access There are several different types of people who need access to CIS website. CIS needs a system where it is possible to give varying levels of authority to CIS site. CIS needs the following types: 1. Admin This person can change everything in the site. Has the ability to blog post under another person s name. 2. Blogger CIS faculty, staff, affiliate scholars, junior affiliate scholars, non-residential fellows and student fellows need to have access only to their blog posts. 3. Guest Blogger - people invited by CIS to post to CIS group blog. These bloggers are not affiliated with CIS; they can only control their blog posts.
