1 DREAMY REDCap user guide The DREAMY REDCap server is accessed via: When you are first registered on the DREAMY REDCap database, you will receive an notification of registration. Please open the and follow the instructions to set a password. When you first login, you will see the REDCap home page. Please click on the My Projects tab at the top. When you click on this tab, you will be prompted to set a security question please do this now and click save. You will see the DREAMY study listed in the My Projects table. After you click on the link, you will see the project home page which displays the project dashboard which provides general information, such as a list of all users with access

In order to add a participant to the database, click Add / Edit Records which is located in the navigation bar on the left side of the page, under the Data Collection heading.

In order to add a participant to the database, click Add / Edit Records which is located in the navigation bar on the left side of the page, under the Data Collection heading. You will see the Participant Data page next. Here you can you may view an existing record/response by selecting it from one of the drop-down lists, or add a new record. REDCap will now create a new record into which you can enter data. You will have access to 4 data entry forms: 1. Participant data 2. Anaesthetic episode data 3. 0-24h Modified Brice questionnaire 4.

REDCap will have already launched the Participant data form and you can now start to enter data. A video guide for data entry is available to click on the top right of the page.

3 REDCap will now create a new record into which you can enter data. You will have access to 4 data entry forms: 1. Participant data 2. Anaesthetic episode data h Modified Brice questionnaire h Modified Brice questionnaire You will be able to access these form by clicking on them in the navigation bar on the left of the page under the Data Collection heading. REDCap will have already launched the Participant data form and you can now start to enter data. A video guide for data entry is available to click on the top right of the page. You must enter a unique study ID for each participant. This will be your local Hospital code then XXX for number of current patient (e.g. for patient number 5 at St. George s = SGH005). Please ensure that you enter the participant s name and contact details so that the central research team can contact each participant for extended follow up. Once complete, please select complete from the drop down menu, then save and go to the next fom. DREAMY REDCap User Guide 1.0 3

Please note that for lowest, highest and median minimum alveolar concentration values, please enter values record

4 The next data entry form is the Anaesthetic episode form. Please ensure that you select your local hospital from the drop down menu. Please note that for lowest, highest and median minimum alveolar concentration values, please enter values record between the start of surgery (knife-to-skin) and the end of surgery (final skin closure). When you have completed anaesthetic episode data entry, please select complete from the drop down menu at the bottom of the page and click save and go to next form.

If the participant gives an answer that is not listed, please click other and enter their response in the box.

5 When you have completed anaesthetic episode data entry, please select complete from the drop down menu at the bottom of the page and click save and go to next form. The next form is the 0-24h modified Brice questionnaire. For convenience, you may enter prepopulated responses by clicking on the buttons. If the participant gives an answer that is not listed, please click other and enter their response in the box. Please ensure you enter the time and date that this questionnaire was completed by the patient, rather than the time it is entered into the database When you have completed the 0-24h Modified Brice questionnaire data entry form, please select complete from the drop down menu at the bottom of the page and click save and go to next form. You will now be taken to the last data entry form which is the 24-48h Modified Brice questionnaire form. This form is identical to the previous form. Please ensure that you enter the time and date that this questionnaire was completed by the patient, rather than the time it is entered into the database. When you have completed the 24-48h Modified Brice questionnaire data entry, please select complete from the drop down menu at the bottom of the page and click save and go to next form. You will now be returned to the project dashboard and data entry is complete. In order to access incomplete records, click Add / Edit Records which is located in the navigation bar on the left side of the page, under the Data Collection heading.
