2 Concept and Offers The BAM portal gives first access to objects from different ch domains (archive, library, museum, audio, image and film archive) under a simple user interface, offers an approach on the object level, whereas the collection level is covered by MICHAEL, allows beside a simple an advanced search with facets like person, time, place etc., and a refinement of the search on the basis of the result list, allows the handling of the list with a domain and institution specific explorer, processes centrally only the metadata of the objects, and sets links from there to the appropriate presentation by the expert systems, is very similar to the technical approach of the Europeana and the coming German Digital Library.
