Location of parameter files 9 2. Configuration directly on the controller Some of the settings can be made without the PC Tool for configuration. They can be configured directly on the controller. In the figure below for instance the entry Maintenance Interval corresponds to entry [M_01] on the controller. Fig. 2 Configuration 3. Installing the software on your computer The software will be downloadable from the Grundfos Intranet. Start the setup file PC_Tool_LC22X.msi and follow the instructions on the screen. For upgrading to a newer version, see section 3.1 Re-installing or upgrading the software. TM Introduction The PC Tool LC 22X is a PC software for programming and analysing LC 220 and LC 221 controllers used for wastewater lifting stations such as Multilift, Unolift or Duolift. To be able to connect to the LC controllers, you need the Grundfos PC Tool Link interface (P/N ) with TTL adaptor, and the related device drivers for PC Tool Link must be installed on your computer. TM Fig. 3 Select installation folder TM After installing the software, you can start it via Start > All Programs > Grundfos > PC Tool LC22X or by clicking a shortcut on the desktop. 3 3.1 Re-installing or upgrading the software If a re-installation of the software is required, start the setup file PC_Tool_LC22X.msi and select "Repair PC_Tool_LC22X". See figure below. 5. Start Up Note Do not turn on the LC controller with the PC Tool connected. The controller will not start up properly and the LEDs will be flashing. The software can be started via Start > All Programs > Grundfos > PC Tool LC22X or by clicking a shortcut on the desktop. TM English (GB) Fig. 4 Setup wizard Fig. 6 Edit & view settings To upgrade to a new version of the PC Tool, the current software must be removed. Start the setup file PC_Tool_LC22X.msi and select "Remove PC_Tool_LC22X". When finished you can install the new version on your computer. 4. Connecting the computer to the controller Make sure the LC controller is off. Connect the USB cable between computer and PC Tool Link. Note Do not connect the TTL connector to the PC Tool Link yet! The power LED on PC Tool Link should now be on. Connect the TTL cable to the LC controller. See figures below for LC 220 and LC 221 connector locations. Turn on the LC controller. Connect the TTL cable to PC Tool Link. 5.1 Selecting the right USB port If the status is "Not connected", check whether the correct port has been selected: Select Tools > Options Fig. 7 Options menu Select [Ports] and select "USB Serial Port". 4 English (GB) 5.2 Downloading the parameters from the controller Double-click [Controller] and the settings will be transferred from the controller to the computer. Fig. 10 Loading settings 5.3 Editing parameters After transferring the data set to the computer, the actual settings can be viewed. Use these submenus: Sensor Calibration Level Setup Pump Setup Relay Setup Machine Setup For further explanations refer to the relevant chapters. Please note that in "Expert" mode you will be able to change the settings. See also next chapter. TM Fig. 12 Port selection 6.3 User The program will start in "Standard" mode by default. In this mode almost no settings can be changed. It is basically meant for viewing the actual settings. The "Expert" mode is used for adjusting most of the relevant settings. TM Options menu The menu can be reached by selecting Tools > Options 6.1 Language In the Language menu, you can select your menu language. 5 English (GB) 7. Edit & view settings TM TM In this menu, data can be uploaded to or from the controller using standard (factory data) or service archives. Fig. 15 Edit and view settings "Controller" Double-click "Controller" to transfer the parameters set from the controller to the computer. "Standard archive" Fig. 17 Sensor calibration Take the pressure tube out of the tank or ensure that the tube is not immerged in water. It must be exposed to atmospheric pressure. Press the upper button [Read sensor signal (ADC)]. Measure the distance from lower edge of the pressure tube to connection (flange) in the tank and fill out the field "Calibration low level". Immerge the pressure tube into water (bucket or fill the tank) to approximately 50 mm below the connection (flange). This archive contains controller settings with default factory parameters set. TM Double-click to load the adequate parameters. Press lower button [Read sensor signal (ADC)]. Measure the distance from water surface to connection (flange) and fill out the field "Calibration high level". Save settings by clicking the menu "Save settings". 7.2 Level settings In this menu, different data sets with start and stop levels can be set and defined. One out of a maximum of five data sets can be selected. Fig. 16 Standard archive "Service archive" The settings downloaded from the controller can be adjusted and uploaded to the controller or saved to "Service archive". Double-click to load the desired parameters. 7.1 Sensor calibration The sensor calibration can only be performed in "Expert" mode. See section 6.3 User how to change to "Expert" mode. Note TM As sensor type, always select [S04: Piezo sensor]. The button [Read Sensor signal] is only visible when an LC controller is connected and the connection established. Fig. 18 Level setting 5

6 English (GB) The first three settings are default factory settings which may be changed. Values which may be changed are these: Field Inlet level in display Description This value is just a value to be displayed on the controller. It has no influence on the control. High water level alarm When this level is reached, the highwater alarm is on. Start pump 2 Start level for pump 2. Start pump 1 Start level for pump 1. Stop Stop level for pumps 1 and 2. Actual data set Max. data set Selects the data set in the related column. A number of maximum five data sets can be prepared. 7.4 Relay settings In this menu, various events can be assigned to up to six potential-free NO/NC (normally open/normally closed) relay contacts depending on the type of controller. TM Pump settings The settings in this menu are used for under- and overcurrent detection. Please note that the undercurrent detection is not active in the current firmware version. The start delay avoids starts/stops if water inside the tank is turbulent, e.g. in houseboats, pontoons etc. Prevention of short time high-water level alarm at high peak inflow (e.g. from backwash filter of swimming pools). Max. runtime until emergency operation starts The emergency operation starts and stops (see break time) the pump(s) according to the S3 duty as long as a regular stop signal is given by the sensor. Cooling break of the pump after expiration of runtime limitation. Setting according to the S3 duty. Every X starts, an additional stop delay time takes place to vent the sensor pressure tube inside the tank. The additional stop delay time to vent the pressure tube inside the tank every X starts. Monitor In this menu, live data, operating hours or fault codes can be viewed. 8.1 Live data This menu displays actual values, such as pump current or water level. Fig. 23 Live data 8.2 Protocol In this menu, the following data can be accessed: Operating hours (number of) Starts Fault log TM TM Checkbox Lock active Two-pump controller Automatic reset Description Activates the pass code protection for the setup menu. Enables the setup for two pumps. An alarm is automatically reset when the alarm condition has disappeared. Fig. 24 Protocol The [Delete] button deletes the entry hours since last service. The [Delete all] button deletes operating hours and the starts counter. TM

8 English (GB) 8.3 Operation diagnostics This menu gives detailed information about the last 40 cycles (20 for each pump) which cover three days in the example below. Displayed are "Break periods [s]", "Runtime [s]" and the "Current [A]". The times are logged in seconds as the controller has no realtime clock but is able to count the number of seconds. Fig. 25 Operation diagnostic 8.4 Report The filled out report can be printed on a connected printer or saved as a PDF file. The PDF can be used to compare the current data with data from the past. The report is a useful tool to document the fault log, runtimes, operating hours, measured current or settings. It helps to document over time all available data, such as installer, consultant, owner, installation conditions, etc. as well as the connected sanitary appliances. TM TM Fig. 26 Report 8
