3 How to Use Mobile Data 1. Verify the included Three SIM card is in the slot on the back of the router. 2. Connect the power adapter with the router and plug in the power outlet. 3. Connect the printer to the router with the included Ethernet cable. 4. Turn on the router. 5. Insert the antennas. Event in a Box Quick Start Guide 3

4 How to Use a Hardline Connection 1. Remove the SIM card, if necessary. 2. Connect an Ethernet cable to the router and an outlet at the venue. 3. Connect ipad to the router. 4. Tap the Safari icon to open a browser window and type into the address bar. 5. Enter the following password: admin. 6. Tap the Advanced tab. 7. Tap Operation Mode. 8. Switch to Wireless Router Mode. 9. Tap Save. 10. Reboot the router. Event in a Box Quick Start Guide 4

5 How to Use Your Own SIM Card NOTE Only 4G LTE SIM cards will work with the TP Link MR200 router. 1. Activate your new SIM Card on Three s site. 2. Tap the Safari icon to open a browser window and type into the address bar. 3. Enter the following password: admin. 4. Tap the Advanced tab. 5. Tap Network, then Internet and enter your dial-up settings. Most of this information can be found through a quick Google search (e.g. dial-up Vodafone uk ). 6. 6 How to Set Up Your ipad Rental 1. Turn on the ipad and tap Settings. Connect to the router s wireless network. If you connect to any other network, you won t be able to print badges from the included printer. 2. Tap Display & Brightness, then switch Auto-Lock to Never. This ensures the ipad will not turn off when in Kiosk Mode. Purchased 1. Turn on the ipad and go through the initial set up process. For a step-by-step guide visit: 2. Connect your ipad to your router s wireless network. The name and password will be on a label on the back of the router. If you connect to any other network, you won t be able to print badges from the included printer. 3. Open the App Store on the ipad and download OnArrival by Cvent. 7 How to Set Up Your Printer The Zebra GX-420D is the thermal printer included in every box. Check for Debris 1. Open the printer. 2. Pull the release latches towards you and lift the cover. 3. Check the media compartment for any loose or damaged components. Wipe the inside with a microfiber cloth. Event in a Box Quick Start Guide 7

8 Load the Paper 1. Printing on fan-fold paper requires you to adjust the media guide s stop position with the green thumb wheel. Rotate the wheel away from you to make the guide wider. Rotate the wheel towards you to make the guide narrower. 2. Insert the paper through the slot at the rear of the printer. Look for a black edge on the back of the paper. This is called the timing mark. Make sure the side with the timing mark goes in first and the blank side faces up. 3. Run the paper between and underneath the hangers. 4. Close the top cover. 9 Connect the Ethernet Cable 1. Connect one end of the supplied Ethernet cable into the outlet of the Zebra Printer as shown. 2. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to one of numbered outlets on the router. Plug the Printer In Turn the Printer On Event in a Box Quick Start Guide 9

10 How to Set Up OnArrival 1. Open the app and log in. If using Event Management, tap Cvent Account. If using OnArrival Standalone, tap OnSite Solutions. 2. Select an event. 3. Tap the gear icon in the top right. 4. If you see the Badge Download option, tap it to save the badges to your device. If you don't see the option, your badges have already been saved. 5. Ensure Zebra Printer is selected for Printer Type and Wi-Fi is selected for Printer Connection. 6. Tap Printer. You ll see a list of IP addresses for all printers on your network. Tap one to connect the ipad to it. 7. Tap Zebra Utilities and ensure the right Media Type is selected. Your choices include: Mark Included in the box. Stock with a black mark along the bottom to signify where one badge ends and another begins. Gap/Notch Stock with a gap, notch, or slot between the labels to signify where one badge ends and another begins. Continuous A roll of paper with no gaps or black marks. Instead the printer must measure a specified label length. 8. Tap Calibrate Printer. Calibration is the process of the printer identifying badge stock through timing marks. Not taking this step almost guarantees your badges will misprint, since the printer has no indication of where to print the text and cut the badge. NOTE After setting up OnArrival, look at the printer. If there is a flashing green light, the printer is paused. Press the Feed button to unpause. Event in a Box Quick Start Guide 10

11 How to Create Badges 1. You ll first need to add custom stock with the following parameters: Units in. Width 4 Height 3 (or 6 for double-sided badges) Horizontal Margin 0 Vertical Margin 0 Rows per Page 1 Columns per Page 1 Refer to Adding Custom Stock in the Cvent Community for detailed instructions. 2. Design the badge. Refer to Creating Name Badges in the Cvent Community for detailed instructions. If you need double-sided badges and accidentally ordered singlesided stock, refer to Printing Two-Sided Badges in the Cvent Community for instructions on design. Then, in OnArrival, access the settings and switch Printing Format to Two-Sided. Event in a Box Quick Start Guide 11

12 How to Troubleshoot The printer won t calibrate. Make sure the paper is loaded into the printer the correct way. The timing mark (the thick black line on the bottom) needs to be facing down and fed into the printer first. I can t find my printer on OnArrival. Ensure both your device and the printer are on the same network. The light is flashing red. After selecting your event in the app, tap the gear icon in the top right. Scroll down and tap Zebra Utilities. The status of your printer will appear on this page. If there are issues, an error message will appear. "Our badges look spotty. Either your print darkness is too low or the print speed is too high. To adjust the first setting, select your event in the app, and tap the gear icon in the top right. Scroll down and tap Zebra Utilities, then Print Darkness. If that doesn t solve the issue, exit OnArrival entirely and open the Zebra Utilities app. From here, you can lower your print speed. I ve tried it all and nothing is working. Turn the printer off and turn it back on again. If that doesn t work, resetting the printer to factory defaults is a good last resort. Hold the Feed button until the green status light flashes 4 times, then release. Event in a Box Quick Start Guide 12
