3 INTRODUCTION This install guide explains how to install NES onto multiple machines within a network environment. Network Installation: This method allows a user to install NES to a centralised network location and subsequently configure numerous workstations to share this installation. In the case of a network install, please ensure NES is closed on all machines where it has already been installed, so as to guarantee that there are no locked or read-only files that could stop the installation from being successful.

4 NETWORK INSTALLATION MASTER CLIENT 1. Pre-requisites The user must have a valid Product Activation Key (provided at the purchase of the software) The user must have administrator privileges to run the installer. 2. Install NES from Master Client Designate a machine to be the first and only one to have NES installed using the Setup.exe provided in the DVD. Please ensure that you only install the DVD once. All subsequent installs are carried out by using the files on the network location and do not need to have the DVD inserted. Refer to page 10 for further details. 3. Follow the all instruction given for the Stand-Alone installation, bearing in mind the following considerations: You need to change the NES Install Path to a network location Preferably using a UNC path. By default The License Manager location will be placed under the NES Install Path. But you can set it to a network path on your LAN or WAN so it can be shared between one or multiple sites.

5 4. When you have completed installing, registering and setting up your company settings, you will now have to run LiveUpdate. Right-Click on the LiveUpdate icon on the System Tray and choose the option Open : 5. When LiveUpdate opens, press the Next button: 6. Download and apply the latest NES Web Update Packages (Application and Content). 7. Once all NES Web Update Packages have been applied, you can now install NES on all the other satellite client machines.

6 NETWORK INSTALLATION SATELLITE CLIENTS 1. Pre-requisites NES must be fully installed, registered, configured and updated to the latest version on the network master client machine The user must have administrator privileges to run the NCI tool. 2. To install NES on a Satellite Client, you will use a tool called NES Client Installer (NCI), which is located under the NES root install directory. This tool is located on the root of the NES install directory, inside a subfolder named NCI. Remember - You do not have to insert the NES DVD to run satellite installations. 3. You can use this tool in three distinct ways: I. II. III. Through the User Interface Through the Command Prompt (for a silent install mode) Through the Group Policy (for a silent install mode)

7 THROUGH THE USER INTERFACE 1. Launch the NCI tool from the NCI folder under the NES root install directory 2. Browse to the NES root install directory on the network 3. Set the Maintenance Operation Mode to Install and press the Start button. Wait until you have received a confirmation message that the installation was successful or not. 4. To uninstall, just change the Maintenance Operation Mode to Uninstall and press the Start button. Wait until you have received a confirmation message that the uninstallation was successful or not.

8 THROUGH THE COMMAND PROMPT (SILENT INSTALL MODE 1) 1. Open the command prompt 2. Change directory to point to where the NCI is located - by default this folder should be located in the NES root install directory, but you can copy it to the local workstation if you so prefer. 3. To install, run the command l remember to change the last parameter to the NES root install directory: e.g.: NESClientInstaller I I:\AMTECH Group\NES\3.0

9 4. To uninstall, run the command U remember to change the last parameter to the NES root install directory: e.g.: NESClientInstaller U I:\AMTECH Group\NES\ To see the outcome of the any of these two maintenance operations, use the Event Viewer.

10 THOUGH THE GROUP POLICY (SILENT INSTALL MODE 2) The NCI_Batch.bat file enables System Administrators to automate the install/uninstall of NES through Group Policy Objects (GPO). By default this folder should be located in the NES root install directory, inside the NCI folder.
