2 1. General Information If you are using the Tempinspect Configuration Tool under Windows 7 or 8 (32 or 64 bits), you may encounter the issue that Windows does not recognize the Tempinspect USB device upon connection to a USB port. Thus, Tempinspect Configuration Tool is unable to detect the device and connect to it. To solve this problem, please download the appropriate USB driver here, and install it according to this guide. Our supplied driver is only an information file, that attributes a built-in Windows driver to be used with the Tempinspect USB. No actual software is installed to the computer. Windows 10 attributes the driver automatically. Following these instructions under Windows 10 is neither necessary nor recommended Identifying the problem Connect your Tempinspect USB device to one of your computer s USB ports, as shown below. Make sure your device is in IDLE state (Tempinspect Guide): Connect your Tempinspect to your computer's USB port Upon connection, the operating system will attempt to load the proper USB drivers If this operation completes successfully, you ll be notified, and there s no need to follow the next steps on this guide. Otherwise, you ll be presented the following notification: If this issue occurs, follow the steps on this guide.

3 2. Driver installation 2.1. Open the Control Panel (1) on the Start Menu. Then select Hardware and Sound (2), and lastly, Device Manager (3), as shown below: 2.2. In the Device Manager, locate the Tempinspect USB entries under the Other devices tab. Right click the first entry, and select Update Driver Software :

4 2.3. A new window will open. Select Browse my computer for driver software: 2.4. Then, select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer:

5 2.5. A list will be presented. Select Ports (COM & LPT) and click Next: 2.6. In the next window, select the option Have Disk:

6 2.7. A pop-up will open. Click Browse and navigate to the tempinspect_cdc.inf file you downloaded earlier (if needed, review the General Information section): 2.8. Select the Tempinspect USB driver, and click Next. Since the driver is not yet digitally signed, you may be asked for confirmation before proceeding. Since the driver is not digitally signed, Windows 8 may prevent you completely from proceeding with the installation. If that is the case, follow the instructions in the section Installing non-signed drivers under Windows 8 to temporarily allow the installation of unsigned drivers.

7 2.9. A new security notification will appear. Select Install this driver software anyway to proceed: After a successful installation, Windows will present the following notification: In the Device Manager, the Tempinspect USB will now be under the Ports (COM & LPT) tab. The Tempinspect Configuration Tool can now be used properly.

8 3. Installing non-signed drivers under Windows 8 As previously noted, the supplied Tempinspect USB driver is not yet digitally signed. For that reason, Windows 8 might completely prevent its installation. To temporarily allow the installation of unsigned drivers, follow the steps below. These steps are only necessary under Windows 8, if step 2.8 was unsuccessful: 3.1. Will first need to reboot the computer into the advanced boot menu. Press the Windows key ( ) + X. A menu, as shown below, will open: 3.2. Click on Shut down or sign out. Then, while holding the Shift key, press Restart The system will now reboot into the Advanced Boot Menu. Select Troubleshoot: 3.4. In the Troubleshoot section select the option Advanced options:

9 3.5. Select Start-up Settings: 3.6. The Startup Settings option will allow you to boot Windows in different modes. Just click on the Restart button to proceed: 3.7. During boot, the screen below will appear. Select option 7 by pressing the F7 key: 3.8. After boot, restart the instructions presented in the Driver installation section in this guide. Windows 8 will automatically re-enable Driver signature enforcement on the next reboot.
