1 Mediaocean Spectra-PF Client Installation/Upgrade Prepared By: Samir Sadikhov Updated By: Kieran Chong Date Updated: 28 th of December 2018 Prerequisites These are the minimum supported OS and pre-requisites for Mediaocean Spectra-PF version 18.1 and above. Supported Operating systems: Windows 7 SP1 32-bit and 64-bit with all critical hotfixes Windows 8 and bit and 64-bit with all critical hotfixes Windows bit with all critical hotfixes To install Spectra PF, the following components must be present. There are checked and installed as part of the installer package: Microsoft Framework.NET 3.5 SP1 (if not included in OS default install) Microsoft Framework.NET (requires restart) Microsoft Data Access Component 2.8 or higher Crystal Reports run-time 11 R2 (versions of Enterprise 5.13 and higher) Crystal Reports run-time 2013 (versions of Enterprise 7.3 and higher) Note: All required Crystal Reports run-times can be installed automatically depending on the method of installation/upgrade selected. Workstation Client New Installation Microsoft.Net frameworks installation requires users performing the task to have Administrative level access. If users are not local admin of their own workstation, your I.T should consider installing these pre-requisite components prior to the Enterprise upgrade in advance or through group policy. Please note that UAC must be turned off. New Installation 1

2 Step 1. Run setup.exe from the Enterprise share of your Spectra-PF server (for instance \\servername\enterprise ) Step 2. Click Accept when prompted to install pre-requisites like Crystal Reports run-times and.net Framework. Just follow the prompts. Note: Depending on version of Spectra-PF you re upgrading to, you may require multiple versions of Crystal Reports runtime. Step 3. Wait for the installation complete. You may get multiple prompts. Step 4. When all the pre-requisites are installed, the Enterprise installation will commence. Click Next when prompted to install Spectra-PF, then select Client setup type and click Install. Step 5. Double click on the Spectra-PF icon on your desktop to launch the application. Step 6. For the first time, Click on Options>> to expand the login page. Enter the server details which should be provide along with your username and password. Once you login successfully, it will remember your details and you will only need to enter your password next time. 2

3 Workstation Client Upgrade Requirements below are for general guidelines only and apply for the newly built environments starting from a blank database. It will vary depending on agency s usage and requirements. Please contact Mediaocean to discuss your current environment and determine server specifications that will apply to your deployment. Auto Client Upgrade Spectra-PF has been designed to allow users to upgrade their desktop workstations as quickly and efficiently as possible. Before proceeding, please ensure all other applications are closed. Users will need to have local Admin access with UAC turned off. N.B - For Mac workstations, please proceed to the important note below. Step 1. Double click on the BCC enterprise icon and login as usual. Click OK. An upgrade prompt will appear. Click Upgrade. Step 2. Click OK Step 3. If prompted, install any pre-requisites by following the prompts. 3

4 Step 4. Wait for the files to be copied and the installation of Crystal Reports to complete. As the files need to be copied across your network, this may take longer than usual. Step 5. Once the installation of Crystal Reports is complete, the installation of Spectra-PF starts automatically. Please wait until it completes. Step 6. Log in to the new version of Spectra-PF with your existing username and password. Manual Client Upgrade It s also possible to upgrade Spectra-PF manually if required (either on behalf of your users or due to environmental factors). N.B - For Mac workstations, please proceed to the important note shown below. Step 1. Log in as the local administrator. Go to Control Panel and click Uninstall a program under the Programs applet. Step 2. Select BCC Enterprise and click uninstall Step 3. Reboot the workstation to make sure Enterprise are uninstalled correctly. Note: This step is not mandatory although it is highly recommended. 5 Step 7. When all the pre-requisites are installed, the Spectra-PF installation will commence. Click Next when prompted to install Spectra-PF, then select Client setup type and click Install. Step 8. Double click on the Spectra-PF icon on your desktop to launch the application. Step 9. Log in to Spectra-PF using an existing username and password. Terminal or Citrix Server installation Both Citrix XenApp servers and Remote Desktop Session servers require that Spectra-PF be upgraded manually. This is to ensure registry keys are written to the correct locations and work in the concurrent user environment correctly. Auto upgrade is not supported at this time. IMPORTANT NOTE - RDP CLIENT ON MAC WORKSTATIONS Please ensure the following RDP versions are used according to the platforms noted below: PowerPC Macs - v1.3 and above Intel-based Macs - v2.01 and above The RDP client must also be removed from the automatic update schedule. If not, it will be updated automatically which may cause issues when using Spectra-PF. 5

6 Perform these steps to upgrade Spectra-PF on a Terminal or Citrix server: 1. Login to server as a user with administrator access. 2. Uninstall Spectra-PF via Add/Remove programs or Programs and Features within Control Panel 3. Restart the Terminal Server 4. Install the new version of Spectra-PF via Add programs or Install Application on Terminal server applet within Control Panel by running setup.exe from the \\<server>\enterprise share. The setup.exe ensures all correct prerequisites are installed before Spectra-PF. Just follow through any prompts. 5. Publish Spectra-PF to the desired group of users, using the command line parameters to pre-populate the server name and database name fields automatically For instance: A group of users require access to Spectra-PF database DB1 running on server SVR01. For environments where SQL Server and Spectra-PF server run on the same physical machine, use these parameters: "C:\Program Files (x86)\bcc Enterprise\MercuryGUI.exe" /ssvr01 /ddb1 For environments where SQL Server and Spectra-PF server run on different machines, use these parameters: "C:\Program Files (x86)\bcc Enterprise\MercuryGUI.exe" /ssvr01 /bsvr02 /ddb1 where: /s SQL server name (where the database reside) /b Spectra-PF server name (Also known as Application, BODT or Middle-Tier server) /d Name of Spectra-PF database 6.
