1 PlotWorks Service Pack 4 Release Notes January 26, 2007 Overview ======== This service pack may be applied to version of any of the following PlotWorks packages: - PlotWorks Server - PlotWorks Client - PlotWorks Connect - PlotWorks Convert - PlotWorks 9800 Server This is a cumulative service pack. It includes all updates made available since the release of version It is not necessary to install earlier patches or service packs. Please note that files removed or replaced during installation will not be archived. To revert to an earlier state PlotWorks must be re-installed from CD on top of the existing installation (i.e., "Smart Update"). Requirements ============ The installer will perform a system check, and will not proceed unless the following conditions are true: 1. PlotWorks must be installed. 2. The current user must have administrative privileges. 3. All PlotWorks applications must be closed. Issues Addressed in SP4 6782: PlotWorks now supports PC architectures with multiple CPU's, either logical or physical. This includes support for Multi-Threading and Multicore processing. The processor check introduced in SP3 (issue 7435) has been disabled. Addressed with Job Editor version and Printer Interface version : Dragging and dropping jobs from one queue to another produced inconsistent data in OpCenter. Addressed with Job Queue.exe version : White threshold handling introduced in dwf.dll version resulted in data loss when DWF file was processed within the color imaging pipeline (M macro). Addressed with dwf.dll version : Inability to process PostScript files. Addressed with revised version of gs_init.ps in the Ghostscript package. 7516: Service Code logged but not displayed with corresponding recovery Issues Addressed in SP3 --- Miscellaneous : Commas in file or folder names generated errors when importing PFS jobs. Addressed with pfscnv.dll version : Provide optional registry entry to establish a white threshold when processing DWF files. Addressed with dwf.dll version A DWORD value name "WhiteThreshold" must be added to Page 1

2 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PLP\PlotWorks\Processing\DWF] to enable this behavior. For example, if the value data is set to 246 (decimal), all color values greater than or equal to 246 will be forced to 255 (white). 7410: Allow mutliple FORMAT statements in the [JOB] section of all PFS files (site level, folder level, job level). This capability is disabled by default. To enable this capability, a DWORD value name "AllowMultipleFormat" must be added to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PLP\PlotWorks\Network Polling], and the value data must be set to 1. Addressed with pfscnv.dll version : Bin full condition not properly handled by direct interface to Gera Mondial folder. Addressed with Printer Interface.exe version : Prohibit Printer Interface from running on PC's where (a) Hyper-Threading is enabled in the BIOS, (b) multicore processing is enabled in the BIOS, or (c) multiple processors are enabled in the BIOS.
