3 Introduction Jeppesen JeppView for Windows, elink for Windows, and echarts for Windows, (JV/E4W/EC4W) Release Notes version 5.3 includes information about new features, resolved issues, and known limitations for Jeppesen elink for Windows, echarts for Windows, and JeppView. 4 2 Release Summary Release Date This Release Version Previous Release Version 9/25/ /25/ General Description of This Release The JeppView/eLink for Windows/eCharts for Windows 5.3 (JV/E4W/EC4W 5.3) release enhances these ground applications to support in-flight solutions with the ability to view, organize and print charts as a ground based, ground operations tool and to provide a viable backup to inflight digital solution applications and data (such as Mobile Flight Deck and Mobile Flight Deck Pro). Enhancements include refinements and optimizations for the Trip Kit for Quick Print feature. The Trip Kit for Quick Print feature is further refined and optimized to enhance the FD Pro Trip Kit backup functionality. This update provides more flexibility while maintaining the Quick Print theme and functionality. The release requires the software to be accessible from the customer location (local or network depending on customer configuration and capability. 2.2 What s New This section describes the new and enhanced features in release 5.3, which are as follows: Addition of basic terminal and enroute contents filters Renamed Trip Kit for Quick Print dialog box tabs Addition of Basic Terminal and Enroute Contents Filters The addition of basic terminal chart and enroute chart filters provides you with better ability to manage your Trip Kit contents and file size. By selecting a terminal chart filter, you can add only the terminal charts that are important for your route. By selectively adding or filtering out enroute notes, high resolution printing, and terrain, you can add to your Trip Kit only the contents that are important to your flight Renamed Trip Kit for Quick Print Dialog Box Tabs The two tabs on the Trip Kit for Quick Print dialog box were renamed to enable you to print terminal charts for one or multiple locations. 3 3/24/2016

5 The Text Route tab in version 5.2 is changed in version 5.3 to Trip Kit. By selecting the Trip Kit tab, you can create a route-based Trip Kit for Quick Print to print your route, including terminal and enroute charts that are important to you. The Plain-Language Route tab in version 5.2 is changed in version 5.3 to Terminal Charts. By selecting the Terminal Charts tab, you can create a location-specific Trip Kit for Quick Print to print terminal charts that are associated with the locations that you specify. 2.3 Issues Resolved in Release 5.3 No software issues were addressed in this release. 2.4 Known Limitations for Release 5.3 This section describes the following known limitations to this version of JeppView/eLink/eCharts (JV/E4W/EC4W) for Windows: Inability to Print Trip Kits from the Default Windows PDF Viewer Version 4 and Previous Versions of 5.0 are Overwritten by Version and Later Alternate routes are difficult to view Correct the icon created when adding terminal charts to a route (Other Airports) Alternate routes are not visible by default Inability to Print Trip Kits from the Default Windows PDF Viewer Limitation: Users are unable to print trip kits from the default Windows PDF viewer (Nova PDF Viewer). Access the Properties dialog box for the Nova PDF reader and specify the following Font properties: Embed all used fonts Force embedding of protected fonts Version 4 and Earlier Versions of 5.X are Overwritten by Version and Later Limitation: JeppView for Windows, elink for Windows, and echarts for Windows version 4 software is overwritten by version 5 software, and the two software versions cannot run on the same computer. No mitigation necessary. Users are cautioned to avoid installing an older version of the application on the same device on which version (or later) is installed Alternate Routes Are Difficult to View Limitation: The default color of the alternate route line is the same color as other chart lines, which makes viewing the line difficult. To make the alternate route line easier to distinguish, select Tools > Options > Display and specify a different Alternate Route Color. 4 3/24/2016

6 2.4.4 Correct the Icon Created When Adding Terminal Charts to a Route (Other Airports) Limitation: In certain circumstances, when you attempt to copy a terminal chart and paste the chart into a RoutePack, the type of airport icon associated with the term chart is incorrect. None Alternate Routes Are Not Visible by Default Limitation: When you create a new route and add an alternate, the application does not draw a corresponding route line to the alternate.
