Jeppesen is unable to provide technical support for systems below these requirements. Getting Started This quick start guide takes you through the procedures for installing the NavSuite products. It also provides information to help you get started quickly. Your NavSuite subscription consists of JeppView, JeppView FliteDeck, and either FliteStar or JetPlanner. The following is a brief description of the NavSuite products: JeppView gives you the capabilities to view and print Jeppesen charts from a desktop or portable computer. Use JeppView to print charts on the ground prior to flight, including charts for the intended route of flight and all applicable alternate airports. JeppView FliteDeck is designed for use while the aircraft is in the air. Proper use of FliteDeck can enhance positional awareness, assist with in-flight replanning, and provide valuable information for normal and emergency operations. JeppView FliteDeck also gives you the ability to view critical weather data using your XM WxWorx Satellite Weather service.* FliteStar gives you the capabilities to plan your flights, download and analyze weather, and view various reports pertinent to your flight and aircraft. FliteStar incorporates advanced routing options, such as optimizing your route for winds, planning automatic fuel stops, searching for preferred routes, routing around designated airspaces, avoiding TFRs, and much more. JetPlanner increases the power of the world s leading flight planning and weather system by providing fast and easy flight planning. You can overlay weather, terrain, and restricted airspace onto flight plans for maximum situational awareness. JetPlanner works with JetPlan. com, an online solution you can connect to anytime, anywhere to create flight plans without dedicated hardware or software. * XM Weather (WX) provides service to Canada and the contiguous US (All states except Alaska and Hawaii), its territories and adjacent water. 3 Installation Procedures Before installing the software, you must have administrative permissions on your computer otherwise the software will not install. The following procedures outline the installation process for the Jeppesen Services Update Manager which will assist in programming terminal charts for use in multi-function displays, and the NavSuite applications. Administrative Permissions Before installing NavSuite, verify the permissions are set that individual users have access to the full use of the products. Administrative permissions are required for the initial installation and any program updates that might be available electronically or with the disc update. When the navigational data and terminal chart data are updated, the user does not require administrative permissions. If you are trying to install the applications on a corporate computer, please contact your network administrator for administrative permission. Installing the Jeppesen Services Update Manager (Multi-function Displays users only) Before installing the NavSuite programs, you must install the Jeppesen Services Update Manager (JSUM) first. JSUM is used to assist in transferring the electronic chart data to the media used with your MFD system. JSUM replaces Skybound USB, Skybound NavData Delivery Tool (NDT), and the Jeppesen DataLoader. JSUM will not continue with the installation unless these programs are removed. The installer will guide you through the uninstall process if these programs are detected. If the JSUM installer detects JeppView for the MX20, you will be given the option to uninstall it. It is strongly recommended you uninstall JeppView for the MX20 to avoid future problems. To download and install JSUM: 1. Go to and save the installer on your hard drive. 2. When the download is finished, minimize or close all browser window(s). 3. Navigate to the destination directory, and double-click JeppesenServicesSetup.exe. 4. When the Jeppesen Services Setup Welcome window appears, click Next. 5. If the installer detects Skybound NDT, Skybound USB, or the DataLoader, they appear in a list of applications that must be uninstalled. Click Next and follow the prompts to uninstall the given programs. Uninstalling JeppView for the MX20 is optional. 6. Read the software license agreement and accept the terms. Click Next. 7. Select the path to install JSUM and click Next. It is recommended that you use the default folder or a location where other Jeppesen programs have been installed. If you use a different drive or folder, click Change, then type the path or browse to the directory (folder) chosen. 8. Select a program folder and click Next. 9. If necessary, click Continue Anyway when the Software Installation dialog box appears (Windows XP) or click Install this driver software anyway in the Windows Security dialog box (Windows Vista and Windows 7). 10. After the program files install, select the Jeppesen Services shortcut on the desktop check box, and then click Next. 11. Click Finish. 4 NavSuite Installation Overview When you purchase NavSuite, you receive three disks, which must be installed in the following order: 1. NavSuite Program CD Installs files necessary for running the NavSuite programs. Install this once on each computer. 2. Electronic Chart Data Disc 1 (DVD) Contains Jeppesen terminal chart data and is updated every 14 days. Install this disc after the NavSuite Program CD installation and update the data through the Internet. DVD updates are available for a small fee. For information and pricing, please contact Jeppesen Sales and Service. 3. Electronic Chart Data Disc 2 (CD) Contains NavSuite program updates, Jeppesen aeronautical data, and the text information from the Jeppesen Airway and VFR Manuals. This data is updated every 14 days. Install it now and update the data through the Internet. CD updates are available for a small fee. For information and pricing, please contact Jeppesen Sales and Service. Save your discs! You must have a set of the discs and the associated serial number to reinstall the programs on a new machine. If anything is missing, please call Jeppesen Sales and Service. NavSuite Program CD Insert the NavSuite Program CD into your computer s CD-ROM drive. If the setup program does not start automatically, browse to your computer s CD-ROM drive and double-click setup.exe. 1. In the Welcome dialog box, click Next. 2. Read the information in the Installation Overview dialog box and click Next. 3. Read the license agreement, accept the terms, and click Next. 4. In the Pilot Information dialog box, enter your name and the 16-character or alphanumeric NavSuite serial number, and click Next. 5. Select the programs you want to install. Read through the explanations about the programs and recommendations if you need help making your decision. Click Next. 6. Select the path to install the NavSuite products and click Next. It is recommended that you use the default folder or a location where other Jeppesen programs are installed. If you use a different drive or folder, click Change and type the path or browse to the desired folder. 7. Select a program folder and click Next. 8. Review the installation summary and click Next to begin the installation. The installation may take a few minutes to complete. 9. Select which programs you would like desktop shortcuts for and click Next. 10. When the installation is complete, click Finish. A dialog box appears, instructing you to insert Disc 1. If your computer requires a reboot, do so before starting the next procedure. Installing Electronic Chart Data Disc 1 (DVD) Install the Program CD prior to loading Disc 1. Once the programs are installed, update the data every 14 days through the Internet or with the disc updates received in the mail. To install your terminal charts by DVD, follow these steps: 1. Insert Disc 1 into your computer s DVD reader. If the setup program does not start automatically, browse to your computer s DVD drive and double-click setup.exe. 2. In the Welcome dialog box, click Next. 3. NavSuite MFD Users Only: If applicable, select the Run Jeppesen Services check box and click Next. This option launches JSUM near the end of the Disc 1 update. This option is only available if JSUM is already installed. 4 5

5 Installing Electronic Chart Data Disc 1 (DVD) (Continued) 4. Verify that the terminal chart coverage areas listed for your serial number are the ones you purchased. Enter any additional coverage codes that you have (if applicable, select I have additional Coverage Codes and click Next). Click Apply to add to the list the coverage areas associated with those codes and click Next. Coverage codes appear below the serial number on the back of your DVD album. Contact Jeppesen to subscribe to additional coverage areas. 5. NavSuite MFD Users Only: The JSUM program launches where you can login and begin the programming process to your datacard to update your MFD system. For JSUM information, see page After the update is complete, click Finish and continue with the installation of Disc 2. Installing Electronic Chart Data Disc 2 (CD) To receive NavSuite program updates, Jeppesen aeronautical data and text data, follow these steps: 1. Insert Disc 2 into the CD-ROM drive. 2. If you are installing JetPlanner, choose a NavData coverage area. 3. Review the installation summary and click Next to begin the installation. The installation may take a few minutes to complete. Activating your Software When you open any of the NavSuite programs, the Activation Wizard launches and guides you through the activation process. Read the information on the first screen and either click Next to activate the program or click Start Program (30 days) to postpone the activation process and open the program. You have 30 days to activate the NavSuite programs. After 30 days, only the Activation Wizard opens, and the programs are disabled until the activation is complete. Updating the Programs Electronically update your programs, enroute data, terminal charts, and electronic text every 14 days using the UpdateClient. You must be connected to the Internet and must have a valid NavSuite serial number. If you are using a proxy server, please follow the instructions in any of the application Help files to properly configure the software to communicate to the update server. There is a large amount of data to download and the time it takes depends on your subscription coverage and connection speed. Follow these steps to update the date through the Internet: 1. Connect to the Internet. 2. Open UpdateClient by double-clicking UpdateClient.exe in one of the NavSuite program folders, or by clicking File > Check for Updates in JeppView, FliteStar, or JetPlanner. 3. If a dialog box appears with a list of Jeppesen products, select NavSuite and click OK. 4. Follow the remaining screens to finish the installation. Check the cycle/issue date of the data on your disks to determine if you need to update your data immediately through the Internet. 6 7

6 Updating the Programs (Continued) 4. After the system displays your program s information (serial number, site key, and site code), click Next. UpdateClient allows you to update all of your programs and NavData at the same time, regardless of which program you used to launch UpdateClient. The system compares the data on your computer with the most recent data available on the server. If a newer set of data is available, the new data appears in the list. Updating terminal chart data and NavData separately might reduce your overall download time. 5. Select each item you want to update and click OK to begin the download. After all of the programs, navigational data, charts, and text pages have been packaged and transferred, an installer program launches and copies all of the data to the appropriate directories. If any of the applications are open, it will attempt to close them unless there are unsaved RoutePacks and you will be prompted to save them. Working with RoutePacks (JeppView and FliteStar Only) Think of a RoutePack as a briefcase containing flight information for a complete trip. A RoutePack can include one or more routes, airports, terminal charts, and waypoints along the route. The information in the RoutePack can be used with each NavSuite program. You can save RoutePack files to a USB memory device, , or move them to other computers. For example, you can create a RoutePack in FliteStar and load it into a RoutePack-compatible moving map on an in-cockpit computer. The RoutePack Wizard Use the full planning aspects delivered by the RoutePack Wizard to create a new RoutePack and a route. To do this, click the RoutePack Wizard on the Chart toolbar in JeppView and on the Quick Bar in FliteStar. The RoutePack Wizard guides you through the entire process of creating a RoutePack and a route. Refer to the User s Guides or Help files for more options on creating RoutePacks. Saving a RoutePack Save your RoutePacks the same as you would any other file by selecting the RoutePack in the RoutePack List and doing one of the following: Click File > Save. Click the Save button in the Standard toolbar. Press CTRL+S. Choose Yes if you are prompted to save a RoutePack on exit. The following are possible default location of where the RoutePacks are stored depending on your setup and operating system: C:\Users\[User Profile]\Jeppesen\Common\RoutePack (Windows Vista and Windows 7) C:\Program Files\Jeppesen\Common\RoutePack (Windows XP) C:\Jeppesen\Common\RoutePack (Windows XP) Regardless of where the program is installed, you may choose to save RoutePacks in a different folder, such as My Documents. You need to know where these files are saved if you want to copy them to another machine. Unloading a RoutePack After you load a RoutePack, it stays there until you unload it, even if you exit and reenter the program. When you load a RoutePack, any currentlyloaded RoutePacks stay in the RoutePack List in addition to the newlyloaded RoutePack. To unload a RoutePack, select the RoutePack name on the RoutePack List and click File > Unload. 8 9

7 Working with RoutePacks (Continued) Opening a RoutePack Once you have created a RoutePack, you can access them in FliteStar and JeppView by clicking File > Load. Browse and select a RoutePack from the default folder or from the location you designated. Working with the Airport List (JeppView and FliteStar Only) The Airport List contains all of the airports in your JeppView coverage area. European VFR charts (Electronic Bottlang Airfield Manual) were added to JeppView version 3.5. If you have a VFR chart subscription, the Airport List displays the European VFR airport and chart icons in green. With an IFR and VFR subscription, IFR airport icons are in blue and VFR airport icons are in green to distinguish between the two airport types. Printing a Subscription Revision Letter Use the Airport List to print a subscription Revision Letter. Before doing so, check that no filters are in place by reviewing the filter status at the bottom of the Airport List window. If filters are active, they affect the results of the Revision Letter. 1. Select all of the airports in the Airport List by selecting one airport and pressing CTRL+A. View Weather in FliteDeck Jeppesen does not sell weather receivers or XM WX subscriptions. Please address all weather-related questions to the contacts provided below. Additional information and examples of the weather products are available in the FliteDeck User s Guide and Help file. With FliteDeck, you can now view critical weather information to keep your flight safe and enjoyable. In order to view weather in FliteDeck, you need a weather receiver and a subscription from XM WX. After connecting to the receiver, you gain access to graphical products, as well as textual information on the Airport Information page. Most of the weather products overlay on the enroute chart and terminal chart to help you identify areas of weather concern at a glance. For information about receivers, please visit WxWorx on the Internet ( or contact them at WxWorx can provide detailed information about each receiver and what works best with XM WX. For an XM WX subscription, visit XM WX on the Internet ( or call for information and activation of your service. Currently, XM WX provides service to Canada and the contiguous US (all states except Alaska and Hawaii), its territories and adjacent water. XM WX has a variety of service packages you can choose from, each providing different levels of products and pricing depending on your needs. 2. Right-click inside the Airport List and click Print. 3. In the Printing dialog box, select the Revision Letter check box. 4. Select the Only Changed Charts check box if you need to print the Revision Letter and all of the charts in the Revision Letter that have been added or modified. 5. Click Print or Print Preview. Print Preview allows you to preview the document before printing it on paper

8 Using the Jeppesen Services Update Manager This section details how to copy the chart data onto the appropriate media to update your MFD hardware. What You Need To copy chart data for your MFD hardware, you need the following: Appropriate Media Adapter and Media compatible with your MFD system: --Iomega Zip 250MB USB-Powered External Drive with a 250MB Zip Disk --USB Flash Drive (only applicable with Avidyne EX5000 units with revision 6 and EX500 with revision 3 or later) --Secure Digital (SD) Reader/Writer and SD card --Compact Flash (CF) Reader/Writer and CF card Avidyne CMAX Users: Register at before starting the following procedures. To do so, you need your Avidyne MFD hardware 8-digit serial number found on the EX500 or EX5000 Setup or Aux screen. During the programming phase to the datacard, you will receive information on how to retrieve the CMax Key Code and enter it. Internet connection JSUM Login After JSUM is installed on the computer: 1. Establish an Internet connection. 2. If the login page does not appear after installing Disc 1, click Start > Programs > Jeppesen Services > Jeppesen Services, or click the Jeppesen Services icon on your desktop. Updating Your Media You must be logged into JSUM before you can program the chart data to your media. The following process assumes you installed the chart data to your hard drive during the installation of Disc Ensure your media adapter is connected to the workstation and the appropriate media is inserted. 2. Select your chart data service from the service list and click Start. You will see 100 percent in the Download Progress column because you already copied the charts from Disc 1 to the hard drive. This indicates that your charts are ready to be placed on your media. 3. JSUM verifies the presence of your adapter and media. If the adapter and media presence are not found, click Browse to locate the adapter and media. If you are unable to locate the media, verify the connection, and review the troubleshooting section in the Help file. CAUTION Do not remove the media until the programming cycle is complete! Otherwise, your card may be incomplete or have corrupt data. 4. The programming cycle automatically writes the data to the media. As the programming steps are successfully completed, the status bar in the Program Progress column displays the percentage 3. Enter your current username and password if you are an existing customer or the username and password given to you when you ordered JeppView MFD. It is also the same username and password you use on After login the system verifies the server is online, verifies you have the most recent version of the application, and provides a list of all your services

Once the LED light on the media adapter signifies writing is complete, safely remove the adapter by double-clicking Safely Remove Hardware in the system tray. 6. Click Task > Exit Application and finish the installation of ECD Disc The Installation Complete dialog box provides options to view the Readme file and start the update process on Disc 2. To accept and continue, select both check boxes and then click Next. After you have programmed your chart data to your media, you are ready to transfer the data to your MFD system. Refer to the MFD manufacturer User s Guide to update the data in your MFD system. IMPORTANT Before flying, verify that the chart data cycle in the MFD system is correct. If you encounter any problems within JSUM, please refer to the Help file by clicking Help > Help Topics in the JSUM application. 14

All orders you place through Jeppesen are subject to the availability, terms, and other conditions that apply to the particular products and services at the time you place your order. All products and services, their contents, availability, and pricing are subject to change at any time with or without notice. Payment Terms When purchasing a NavSuite subscription you will be asked to select one of the following payment terms: Annual Payment If you prefer to pay for your NavSuite subscription on an annual term, you are required to pay for your subscription prior to its activation. Your NavSuite subscription is active for one (1) year from the date of purchase. Jeppesen will send you a renewal invoice within ninety (90) days prior to the expiration date of your subscription. In order to continue your NavSuite subscription, you must submit your payment no later than the end of your annual term. duration of your subscription, Jeppesen will automatically debit your monthly subscription fees/charges against the account or credit card you establish with Jeppesen. Annual Payment After a full ninety (90) days of continuous subscription, you may choose to terminate/cancel your NavSuite subscription at any time. You are not required to return the NavSuite software package to Jeppesen. Your NavSuite subscription will be deactivated on the same day you terminate/cancel your subscription. If a payment has been received for your subscription, Jeppesen will credit a pro-rated amount back to your Jeppesen account. Monthly Payment (EFT) After a full ninety (90) days of continuous subscription, you may choose to terminate/cancel your NavSuite subscription at any time. You are not required to return the NavSuite software package to Jeppesen. Your NavSuite subscription will remain active until the end of that month. Jeppesen will send you a confirmation of termination and you will not be charged for any future service period. Please refer to the payment Terms and Conditions prior to making any changes.
