Introduction Introduction Introduction Technical Support Jeppesen provides product support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. North America Toll-Free: United States Direct: United Kingdom: Australia: All Other International: navsupport@jeppesen.com Online support: System requirements The minimum operating system for FliteDeck Pro 9.0 is Windows 10, version Microsoft strongly recommends that all Windows 10 devices be updated to the latest version, which is version FliteDeck Pro 9.0 has been tested and is compatible with versions 1511 and 1607 of Windows 10. However, because the release of version 1703 occurred too late to be included in Jeppesen's release testing process, FliteDeck Pro 9.0 was not validated against the most recent version of Windows 10. This validation is slated to occur several weeks after the release of FliteDeck Pro 9.0. Further notification will be sent at that time. For the most recent FliteDeck Pro 9.0 hardware and software updates, go to the Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro Customer Support Portal and select the FliteDeck Windows product. Devices supported FliteDeck Pro is compatible with certain mobile devices that run Windows 10. Among these devices are the Panasonic Toughpad, Samsung Galaxy TabPro S, Surface Pro 2, Surface 3, Surface Pro 3, and Surface Pro 4. 5
Introduction Display resolution FliteDeck Pro requires an effective display resolution of at least of 800 pixels at a display scale of 150 percent, which the default display settings on most Windows devices usually meet. When a device does not meet this resolution requirement, the FliteDeck Pro display might appear to be cut off. Note: Using FliteDeck Pro in Desktop mode might also adversely affect the appearance of the app. Always use FliteDeck Pro in Tablet mode. 1. To check the effective display resolution on a device, tap the Settings button on the Windows home screen. 2. Tap System. 3. Scroll to the bottom of the Display page and tap Advanced display settings. This page shows the resolution of the device. 4. Divide the smaller of the two dimensions by 1.5. This yields the effective display resolution. See the following examples: The resolution of a Surface Pro 3 is set to 1920 x 1280 pixels: = 853. The resolution of a Toughpad is set to 1920 x 1200 pixels: = 800. Deployment considerations FliteDeck Pro is released through your system administrator. Only one version of the app can be downloaded to your device at a time. The FliteDeck Pro app and data, including subsequent data updates, require 2 to 6 GB of available storage capacity. The variability in the storage capacity requirement is related to the size of your coverage area. Any additional data, such as Airport Moving Map (AMM) or supplemental enroute data, also affect storage requirements. In addition to the above requirement, the device requires 4 GB of memory for optimal performance. What is preserved when updating When you update FliteDeck Pro from one version to another, the app preserves the following information: Customized FliteDeck Pro global settings under user control, including registration and account information Saved flights 6
Introduction Connectivity considerations Downloading FliteDeck Pro requires a reliable Internet connection. An Internet connection is required to download various information, such as data updates and Organized Track System data. Internet connectivity is also required to load new routes sent from a flight-planning system, download weather, and refresh the list of ATC-cleared routes. In addition, FliteDeck Pro displays ownship position based on the built-in GPS or on an external GPS device. When the device is not receiving valid positional data, FliteDeck Pro displays an amber badge on the GPS Status button on the FliteDeck Pro toolbar. The minimum GPS accuracy to display ownship position is as follows: 200 meters for the enroute map 35 meters for the Airport Moving Map 17 meters for taxi diagrams Using internal GPS If you are using the internal GPS on your device rather than an external GPS device, ensure that the internal GPS and location service are turned on in Windows settings. To turn on the internal GPS: Tap the Settings button or All Settings in the Action Center. Tap Network & Internet. Tap Airplane mode from the Network & Internet menu. Switch GNSS to ON. This option appears when a GPS driver is installed on the device. To turn on the location service: Tap the Settings button or All Settings in the Action Center. Tap Privacy. Tap Location from the Privacy menu. Switch Location services to ON. Under Choose apps that can use your precise location, switch Jeppesen FliteDeck to ON. Allowing location and GPS access FliteDeck Pro requires your device location. If you turned off location services on your device, you can turn on this service for FliteDeck Pro using the Windows privacy settings. Similarly, if you turned off Bluetooth on your device, you can turn it on for FliteDeck Pro to use an external GPS device. To turn on location services for FliteDeck Pro: 1. Tap the Settings button or All Settings in the Action Center. 2. Tap Privacy. 3. Tap Location from the Privacy menu. 7
Introduction 4. Under Choose apps that can use your precise location, switch Jeppesen FliteDeck to ON. To ensure that FliteDeck Pro is visible to an external GPS device: Tap the Settings button or All Settings in the Action Center. Tap Privacy. Tap Other Devices from the Privacy menu. Under your Bluetooth device, switch Jeppesen FliteDeck to ON. 8
What's New What's New What's New This document introduces the new functionality added in FliteDeck Pro release 9.0. See the in-app help or FliteDeck Pro User Guide for more information. A B C D E F G H I J Route list. Integrated publications. Fleet selection. Available with supplemental enroute data (Tailored Enroute). Settings button: Adjust the width of the route corridor and, with supplemental enroute data, change the fleet selection. Operational notes. Route corridor. Map Object Filter menu. Show organized track systems. Also, with supplement enroute data, show only company airports, show only ETOPS airports, or filter aiports by services. Route list button. Scrollable list of objects in the route corridor. Handle to collapse or expand the Route list. 9
What's New Route list (Smart Notes) The Route list, also referred to as Smart Notes, dynamically gathers route-based navigation objects from the enroute map and filters the map according to the context of your flight, which minimizes your need to interact with the app during flight. Key information in the Route list includes operational notes such as prior notifications, CPDLC logins, communication frequencies, and compulsory reporting points. Objects and information are presented as they occur along your route, filtered by direction, applicability to specific FIR sectors, and entry and exit from a given airspace. Integrated publications FliteDeck Pro provides you with direct access to searchable publications that are fully integrated within the app. When you view the enroute map, the Publications tab provides access to route notes, enroute change notices, Jeppesen Airway Manuals, and any company manuals. 10
What's New Organized track systems FliteDeck Pro can display data for North Atlantic Tracks (NAT), the Pacific Organized Track System (PACOTS), and the Australian Organized Track Structure (AUSOTS). Flex Tracks, which are a part of PACOTS, are also available. You can download and display the Australian and Pacific systems. You can also create a route based on a North Atlantic track. To display organized track system data, obtain an Internet connection and make the following selections: Note: An Internet connection is necessary the first time that you set your device for organized track systems and when you want to download updated data. Switch Display Organized Track Systems to ON in global app settings. Select either the High IFR or Low IFR enroute theme. Select Show Organized Tracks in the Airways Map Object Filters menu. You can turn this setting on and off, as you need to filter for organized track systems. Select the Airways enroute map object. Although the show-and-hide status of organized track systems is controlled with the Airways map object button, you can view organized track systems on the enroute map at higher zoom levels than other airways. Supplemental enroute data Tailored Enroute is a solution available to your company to supplement Jeppesen aeronautical data with company-specific enroute data. 11
What's New In this release, supplemental enroute data includes information for airports, fleetspecific designations, tailored boundaries (such as no-fly areas), ETOPS rings, and company communication frequencies. The designation of a fleet above the Flight Info drawer tab indicates that you are receiving supplemental enroute data from your company. Also, your company name appears for the Tailored Enroute setting in the Account Info section of global settings. To view supplemental enroute data, tap the object on the enroute map. The supplemental details depend on the type of object selected. You can also filter the enroute map for specific types of supplemental enroute data. Additional object filters As with previous versions of FliteDeck Pro, you can control the display of map objects by customizing the map object Filters menu. Default zoom level for new object filters New filters were added for Organized Track Systems and Airspace. You can display these map objects at the zoom level noted in this table. Table 1: Default object filtering Enroute Map Objects High IFR Low IFR VFR Airports 160nm/in 80nm/in 80 Airways 80 nm/in 40 nm/in 40 nm/in Organized track systems 640 nm/in 640 nm/in Never Waypoints 20 nm/in 20 nm/in 20 nm/in Navaids 80 nm/in 40 nm/in 40 nm/in Airspace 80 nm/in 40 nm/in 40 nm/in Airspace (associated with Tailored Enroute data) 320 nm/in 320 nm/in 320 nm/in Terrain 200 nm/in 200 nm/in 200 nm/in Cultural Never Never Always Note: FliteDeck Pro displays any object that is part of the route, regardless of the object's show or hide status, enroute theme, or zoom level. New filters for enroute map objects New filters were added for Airports, Airways, and Airspace. Airports Show Only Company Airports: Filters the map to show only company airports. This option is available when your company provides this supplemental enroute data. 12
What's New Show Only ETOPs Airports: Filters the map to show only ETOPs airports. This option is available when your company provides this supplemental enroute data. Filter Airports by Services: Filters the map to show only company airports based on the services that you select. These services include Medical, Gate, and Mechanical. This option is available when your company provides this supplemental enroute data. Airways When Display Organized Track Systems is set to ON in global settings, you can use the Show Organized Tracks filter when viewing the map in High IFR or Low IFR enroute theme.flitedeck Pro displays the time that organized track systems data was most recently updated. If you filter Show Organized Tracks to OFF and a track is part of your route, the route and the route points that identify the track remain on the map. The tracks and information that are not a part of your route are removed. Airspace You can customize airspace to show or hide ETOPS rings if your company provides this supplemental enroute data. Enhanced operational notes and FIR details The appearance of note symbols on the enroute map has been enhanced. It is also easier to view details about FIRs. To improve their accessibility, objects with operational notes now appear with a numbered button on the enroute map, in the Route list, and in the object details. These notes are numbered sequentially from origin to destination. You can view object details and operational notes directly from the Route list. This action displays the note details and highlights the object in the Route list and on the enroute map. FliteDeck Pro shows the boundaries for FIRs and UIRs that intersect the route corridor. You can tap anywhere in the boundary and display the Multiple Objects popover, from which you can select FIR/UIR details, including operational and other notes. This action highlights the FIR/UIR on the enroute map. The symbol that appears when notes are associated with a FIR/UIR has a new design. 13
What's New Enroute map search New search functionality in FliteDeck Pro makes it easy to locate objects. This feature also enables you to search the Route list and publications. The Search button on the toolbar now opens a search field in the middle of the toolbar. When you initiate a search, the number of results appears over a new Search Results button. FliteDeck Pro displays a list of all results when you tap the Search Results button. You can view results grouped by airports, fixes, or publications. Airport identifiers and fixes are highlighted on the enroute map and in the Route list. Airport Moving Map (AMM) FliteDeck Pro now integrates the Airport Moving Map (AMM), which presents a dynamically rendered depiction of the taxi diagram. The Airport Moving Map uses a detailed database to dynamically render runways, taxiways, and airport structures. Combined with GPS, Airport Moving Map displays ownship position on the airport surface, which improves situational awareness and runway safety at large or unfamiliar airports. Note: Airport Moving Map is not available for all airports, and each operator can subscribe to as many airports as required for their operation. Two-color highlighting Whether you are viewing a terminal chart or the Airport Moving Map, you can now use two colors for highlighting. When you are in Highlight mode, a new button enables you to select the color of highlighting. Using two colors gives you more options when highlighting your taxi clearance or other details. 14
What's New QR encoding The Flight Info drawer now includes a More (ellipsis) button with new options, including an option to import a route by scanning a QR code using the camera on your device. If your company publishes QR codes for flight plans, this option saves you time entering the route manually. You can also encode the active flight as a QR code and save it to a local drive for sharing or distributing. Reverse route You can create a new flight by reversing the current route. The Reverse Route option, available from the new More (ellipsis) button in the Flight Info drawer, is convenient when you typically fly between the same airports. After you reverse the route, you can then add route points for the new flight. 15
What's New Route sharing with third-party apps FliteDeck Pro can now import routes that are shared from a third-party app installed on the device. When another app shares a route, FliteDeck Pro prompts you to load, save, or decline the route. If you load the route, it becomes the active flight, which FliteDeck Pro displays on the enroute map and in the Flight Info drawer. If you save the route, FliteDeck Pro adds it to your list of saved routes. Data updates from an external drive If your company has enabled the option to do so, you can now update data from an external drive such as a USB device or local network drive. This option is available from the Settings button. The Update From Extended Drive option enables you to obtain updated enroute data, terminal information, and manuals when a connection to the Jeppesen database is not available. In-app help FliteDeck Pro now includes comprehensive in-app help topics, to make it easier to find information about using the app. You access in-app help from the Help button in App Settings. You can explore topics by tapping the links in the table of contents. You can also enter a term in the Search box at the top of the help viewer to find specific information. 16
What's New The Error Codes section lists error messages that you might encounter in FliteDeck Pro and includes suggestions for resolving them. 17
Issues Resolved Issues Resolved Issues Resolved Issues resolved in FliteDeck Pro 9.0 A number of issues were resolved with the release of FliteDeck Pro 9.0. The Switch button on the effectivity badge was disabled when you viewed a deleted chart or an earlier version of a revised chart, and the system date rolled past the 48hour effectivity window (when the chart was no longer valid). When you viewed an expired chart on the second day of the mid-cycle revision period (when the chart was expired), the chart's revision information incorrectly indicated that the chart was effective. The terminal chart being viewed was removed from view and replaced with another clipped chart under certain circumstances. When you locked the display from the toolbar, rotating the device changed the orientation. When you switched to a future-effective chart, FliteDeck Pro switched to futureeffective charts, but displayed the most recently viewed, clipped chart for the selected chart category, instead of the future-effective revised chart. When you displayed the airport diagram for the destination airport (when no origin was entered) and then deleted the destination airport, FliteDeck Pro did not switch to the airport diagram of the alternate airport. Under certain circumstances, flitedeck Pro did not highlight the previewed chart in the chart list. When you created an equal time point with two alternate airports and then panned the display so that it was no longer visible, the alternates did not appear and the ETP label was positioned incorrectly when you panned back to the point. When you made an entry in one of the Flight Plan Services fields in the App Settings popover and then tapped away, your entry was not retained. The message RegistrationPagePage failed appeared when you attempted to activateflitedeck Pro without an Internet connection. The app shut down when more than nine unique CIC datasets were associated. The Search feature did not find user waypoints. If the 633 route included special Top of Climb (TOC) and Top of Descent (TOD) points, under certain circumstances you were unable to edit them directly from the enroute map. In certain instances, you could zoom the enroute map in such a way that the ICAO identifier of the displayed airport was obscured. Regional and reference notes flashed before appearing. 18
Known limitations Known limitations Known limitations Limitations in FliteDeck Pro 9.0 Listed below are limitations that are not yet resolved in FliteDeck Pro. Search results list is not refreshed after the map is manipulated Issue: Search results are listed by distance from the center of the enroute map. The list should be refreshed when you pan the map, but currently FliteDeck Pro is not refreshing the results list. Workaround: Scroll the search results to locate an object. ETP alternate airports disappear from the ETP label Issue: When you pan the enroute map so that an equal time point (ETP) is no longer in view and then pan the map again so that the ETP returns to the display, the alternate airport identifiers disappear from the ETP label. Workaround: Zoom in or out. FliteDeck Pro redraws the ETP label correctly. Anomalies when pausing and starting data updates Issue: Under certain circumstances, the Update screen does not operate correctly when you cancel or pause a data update and then resume it. For example, a spinner might continue for longer than expected, or the Resume buttons might not appear after an update is paused. Workaround: Restart FliteDeck Pro. Standard terminal chart view flashes before the AMM depiction Issue: This issue might occur when you display the ownship position on terminal charts and have GPS connectivity. If you swipe between a standard terminal chart and the Airport Moving Map (AMM) depiction of another chart, the standard terminal chart might flash before the app displays the associated AMM depiction. Workaround: The AMM depiction appears normally. Incorrectly sized terminal charts Issue: This issue might occur when you enable the moving map, have GPS connectivity, and select the option to display the AMM depiction automatically upon 19
Known limitations landing. If you tap the Chart button after the AMM depiction of the airport diagram appears, the chart appears in a reduced size. Workaround: Display another chart and then return to the airport diagram. FliteDeck Pro redraws the standard chart view correctly. Button to update data from an external drive becomes unavailable Issue: If you cancel an update from an external drive and then try to download an older set of data from an external drive, FliteDeck Pro does not complete the download, and the Update From External Drive button is unavailable. Workaround: Close FliteDeck Pro and then restart it. The Update From External Drive button is available again. Present Position button does not recenter the map after scrolling the Route list Issue: This issue might occur when the moving map and ownship position are enabled and the route is particularly long. When you scroll to the bottom of the Route list and then tap the Present Position button, the map is not immediately centered over the ownship position and the Route list is not synchronized with the moving map. Workaround: Tap the Present Position more than once to recenter the map and synchronize the Route list. Search results in Airway Manuals are not highlighted in night theme Issue: When you conduct a search, words that match the search term are highlighted in publications. However, currently search terms are not highlighted in Airway Manuals displayed in night theme Workaround: View the search results for Airway Manuals in day theme. Chart title and chart type flyout cut off when viewing the app in split screen Issue: When displaying FliteDeck Pro in the smallest size available in Windows split screen, the Flight Info drawer tab cuts off the label at the top of the chart type flyout. The chart title might also be cut off when viewing FliteDeck Pro in Windows split screen. Workaround: Expand the view of FliteDeck Pro. 20
Known limitations Ownship symbol is resized incorrectly when zooming terminal charts Issue: The ownship symbol on a terminal chart becomes small when you zoom the chart. Workaround: The ownship symbol still reflects current aircraft position. Update screen does not indicate that new AMM data is available Issue: FliteDeck Pro does not currently display a badge on the Settings button if your company updates its customized configuration to make AMM data available. This data is downloaded if you initiate a data update, but a badge does not appear unless you restart the app. Workaround: Restart FliteDeck Pro. Incorrect effectivity date on the Airports revision selector Issue: When you view a terminal chart with a mid-cycle update as the current time enters the revision window, the revision selector on the Airports popover might not show the correct revision date. Workaround: Tap the effectivity badge from the Airports list, tap the date you want to view in the Airport Revision Selector, and then tap Done. Charts deleted in JDM Pro are still visible in FliteDeck Pro after updating Issue: Charts that were deleted in JDM Pro are still visible in FliteDeck Pro after you perform a data update from App Settings. The update completes, and the deleted content is removed, only after you restart FliteDeck Pro. Workaround: Close and restart FliteDeck Pro after you perform a data update. Certain controls are truncated in split view Issue: The controls in the GPS, Operations Notes, and Weather flyouts are truncated when you display FliteDeck Pro in split screen at one-third width. Workaround: Expand the view for FliteDeck Pro. Tapping the airport effectivity badge does not display the revision selector Issue: Tapping the effectivity badge in the Airports popover does not display the revision selector, which allows you to switch to the other diagram. Tapping the text of the indicator, however, does allow you to switch. 21
Known limitations Workaround: To switch airport diagrams, tap the text of the effectivity indicator. FliteDeck Pro displays the first engine-out chart instead of the most recent Issue: When multiple engine-out charts are associated with a route, FliteDeck Pro displays the first associated engine-out chart in the Company chart category list instead of the most recently associated engine-out chart. Workaround: Manually select the engine-out chart of interest. The ETP symbol is drawn incorrectly Issue: Under certain circumstances the equal time point (ETP) symbol does not correctly represent the direction of the alternate airports. Workaround: Reverse the order in which the alternate airports are entered in the ETOPS/ETP popover. An "Updates Completed" message appears when an update is interrupted Issue: If the data update process is interrupted, for example, by a temporary loss of connectivity, the update process resumes when connectivity is restored. When the download is completed, FliteDeck Pro displays the message Updates Completed. Currently, this message might appear when connectivity is disrupted and the update process is not complete. Workaround: None at this time. The next time you connect, FliteDeck Pro will indicate that updates are ready to be downloaded. An imported route description with erroneous CRLF fails to load Issue: A flight plan might derive from AFTN FPL messages. The flight plan has a Type15 route string in the RouteDescription element and no waypoints in the waypoints element. On occasion, these flight plans might contain an erroneous CRLF embedded in a token. The application generates a Load Flight Failed message. Workaround: Load a different flight. Enroute Intersection Info flashes white momentarily in night theme Issue: In some instances when you select the Intersection Info button from the details box when viewing the enroute map in night theme, FliteDeck Pro displays the information in day theme momentarily before returning to night theme. If this issue occurs, the day theme display might appear as a bright flash. 22
Known limitations Workaround: The enroute map subsequently appears correctly in night theme. An expired terminal chart remains in the clip for a revised chart after date change and restart Issue: In some instances, an expired chart might remain in the chart clip. This issue might occur if a chart is valid when you closeflitedeck Pro, but expires before you reopen the app. Workaround: Manually remove the chart from the clip. 23
