What's new in Security Center 5.5 SR1 With each release, new features, enhancements, or resolved issues are added to the product. There are no new features in Security Center 5.5 SR1. Resolved issues in Security Center 5.5 SR1 Resolved issues are software issues from previous releases which have been fixed in the current release. The following software issues were resolved in Security Center 5.5 SR1. Solution/ Unit Issue Description Access The status of door entities (online/offline) might not all be accurate. All unit events and door activities are still received in Security Center and can still be monitored live for online doors that appear as offline. Workaround: Assign a door lock to all doors that are missing one. You can do this by going to Config Tool > Door > > Hardware tab and assigning a Door lock. Temporarily assigning an output as the door lock might resolve this issue. All Active directory role does not synchronize users, cardholders, or groups that contain a special character in the distinguished name. A special character is any one of " [ ] : ; = + *? < > / \, Video When a camera is disconnected from and then reconnected to the Media Router, a new multicast address is assigned to the camera. The original multicast address should be assigned to the camera. EN V5.5.C2(4) Last updated: October 24,

What's new in Security Center 5.5 GA With each release, new features, enhancements, or resolved issues are added to the product. Platform enhancements Security Center 5.5 GA includes the following platform enhancements: Enhanced Failover Directory (disaster recovery mode): Failover Directory roles located in other geographic areas (or buildings) can be configured to act as disaster recovery servers. A Failover Directory role configured for disaster recovery, only becomes available when all other primary Directories go offline or fail, and acts as the main Directory. You can specify explicitly (new setting) whether a Directory will be used for disaster recovery. When the Failover Directory is in disaster recovery mode, it does not accept client/role connections and returns to normal standby operation when another Directory role comes back online or reconnects. Failover Directory supports the SQL AlwaysOn Availability Groups feature, where the Directory SQL database server is configured for high availability and disaster recovery solutions. This new failover mode is available in addition to the current Backup and Restore and Mirroring modes. Plan Manager enhancements: Access control units (controllers) are now supported within maps. This allows users to visually detect the real-time state of units on a map (A/C fail, tamper, and other status information). With geo-referencing on image-based maps, it's now possible to create a map based on several file types (JPG, bmp, pdf) and reference it with real geographic coordinates. This enables perfect scaling of a map, as well as access to the actual geographical position of any object overlayed within the map. A change in the map does not affect the configuration of the object layers; it is now also possible to benefit from mobile object and KML layers available on private source maps like it was on GIS maps. Layer management has been enhanced for each map object type. Map objects (door, cameras, alarms, and so on) are now available on a separate layer. This allows an operator to select which information is relevant to display, and in which order which makes their map interface more relevant to their immediate needs. Multi-tier packages: New packages are available for SDK users in the form of multiple tiers with different capabilities. The Basic SDK version is a freely-available package that users can access once they accept our terms and conditions. With the Basic SDK, users can connect to and interact with the Security Center platform, create macros and more. This package includes the SDK for the Security Center platform, for Security Desk, Config Tool applications, and the Security Center Web Services. It is possible to develop macros, access and modify system configuration settings, create and listen to real-time system events, manage alarms and incidents, generate various system and activity reports and much more. The Advanced SDK version includes the capabilities of the Basic SDK and offers more advanced video capabilities such as viewing and managing live and recorded video, EN V5.5.C2(4) Last updated: October 24,

managing audio, PTZ camera control, export video, video conversion to other formats, and access live and recorded RTSP video streams. Active Directory (AD) support for universal groups and global catalogs: The AD role supports the ability to synchronize universal groups (same synch capabilities available with Active Directory in Security Center 5.4) as well as security groups belonging to other domains within the same forest (Microsoft AD servers are organized into a hierarchy of containers representing the logical structure or tree; when trust is established between logical trees, then a forest is created). Universal groups are AD accounts from any domain within the forest. To achieve this, two options are supported: 1 A new setting enables the AD role to connect to a global catalog, which is a distributed data repository that contains a searchable representation of every object in every domain in a multi-domain AD Domain Services forest. 2 When global catalogs are not used, the AD role must have the right permissions to contact and synchronize with several AD servers. DSC PowerSeries Intrusion Panel Extension 4.0: The DSC PowerSeries Intrusion Panel Extension 4.0 includes significant improvements in performance and scalability with respect to the number of intrusion detection units, intrusion detection areas, and inputs that are supported. Please note that if you already have DSC panels integrated with a previous release of Security Center, you must install the new DSC PowerSeries 4.0 extension in order for your intrusion panel features to work. For more information about the DSC PowerSeries Intrusion Panel Extension, see the DSC PowerSeries Intrusion Panel Extension Guide 4.0. Security Desk in 64-bit mode: The Security Desk is now installed as a 64-bit application, allowing for higher memory consumption. This is useful for customers that require more scalability, and customers that are using features that require more memory, such as Plan Manager. Alarm Management enhancements alarm grouping and filtering: Users can choose how additional occurrences of an alarm are displayed in the Security Desk Alarm Monitoring and Monitoring tasks. Alarms can be grouped by alarm, state, priority, and source. When alarm grouping is enabled, a real-time count of current alarms in each group is displayed for quick visual reference, including any common fields for the group such as name, source, or priority. Users are also able to expand or minimize an alarm group to simplify viewing. Once grouped, alarms can be managed as a group with available actions that include acknowledge/snooze/ forward all alarms in an alarm group. For more information, see the Security Desk User Guide. Server Admin Web Client now supported with HTML5: To enhance support for new web browsers such as Google Chrome and Windows 10 Edge, the Server Admin web app supports HTML5, the latest technology for web page development. For more information, see the Security Center Administrator Guide. Maintenance mode enhancements: For roles, video units, cameras, LPR units, Patrollers, access control units, and intrusion detection units, you can specify a duration when enabling Maintenance mode, after which maintenance mode is automatically deactivated. When maintenance mode is enabled for an entity, the Maintenance mode icon is displayed over the entity's icon in the entity tree, indicating that the entity is being investigated and might not perform as expected. The automatic deactivation (schedule) ensures the entity returns to normal operation without requiring manual intervention. EN V5.5.C2(4) Last updated: October 24,

NOTE: Setting an entity in Maintenance mode does not stop health events, but it reports all health events as information only. Any event-to-actions configured for an entity in maintenance mode should continue to work as well. New digital input state change events for configuring event-to-actions: Users can configure event-to-actions based on digital input events. Three new input state events have been added: normal, active, and trouble. For more information, see the Security Center Administrator Guide. Security Center Compact: Security Center Compact is a new edition of Security Center (along with Standard, Professional and Enterprise) that is only available on subscription. The Compact package supports up to 25 cameras and offers an easy-to-deploy option for customers with basic video management requirements. A Security Center Compact system can be federated within a Security Center Enterprise system, and can be easily upgraded to the next Security Center package tier. A Security Center Compact license is required. For more information about Security Center Compact and subscription-based licensing, contact your Genetec channel partner. Video enhancements Security Center 5.5 GA includes the following video enhancements. General video enhancements Enhanced security for RTSP connections RTSP over TLS: Prior to Security Center 5.5, existing RTSP connections between Security Center role and client apps used plain RTSP (no encryption or authentication), leaving them exposed to DoS and man-in-the-middle attacks. This new feature adds token-based authentication to RTSP requests and adds encryption for video transmission by leveraging RTSP over TLS. Command and Control communications between server modules was already encrypted with Security Center 5.4. A new setting called Use secure communication is available in the Media Router role configuration settings to enable RTSP over TLS. The "Use secure communication" setting is enabled by default. All video transmission uses RTSP over TLS by default. When network or system is configured for Multicast or Unicast UDP, the RTSP channel is encrypted. When Unicast TCP is enabled, all the video is transmitted over a secured and authenticated TLS channel. Video playback and video export always use RTSP over TLS so transmitted video is secure (encrypted). NOTE: The "Use Secure Communication" setting can be turned off for backward and forward compatibility. For example, on a Security Center 5.4 system you can federate a Security Center 5.5 system, but the "Use secure communication" setting must be turned off. Three tier Archiver: It is possible to configure a strategy for camera failover that includes multiple failover archivers, and a defined order of priority for cameras to failover from one server to another. This feature is useful in multi-site scenarios as it enhances the reliability of a global video surveillance system; the local site is protected with a third failover Archiver located at a remote site. NOTE: This feature requires a specific license. For more information, see the Security Center Administrator Guide. EN V5.5.C2(4) Last updated: October 24,

New event-to-action: a snapshot: The a snapshot action, allows users to take a snapshot or a series of snapshots pre-event and post-event and them to a recipient. For more information, see the Security Center Administrator Guide. Export video to MP4: To offer greater flexibility in viewing exported video and well as speed up the export process, Security Center supports exporting video to the MP4 file format. This enables users to view video in a widely-used format, leveraging common off-the-shelf video players, while not requiring a specialized video player, such as Genetec Video Player. This capability is also supported using the SDK. Users can convert G64 and G64x files to MP4, and it is more efficient since no transcoding is required. Conversion to MP4 supports H.264 and MPEG-4 video, and AAC audio formats. Fusion stream encryption and overlays are not supported in this first iteration. For more information, see the Security Desk User Guide. Re-exporting G64 video: Users are able to create new G64 and G64x video files by reexporting existing exported video and choosing user-defined start and end times. For more information, see the Security Desk User Guide. Adding bookmarks to exported G64x videos located in the Vault : After video has been exported (G64x recordings) to the Vault, users can add or remove bookmarks to add additional information. NOTE: This feature is not supported in the Genetec Video Player. For more information, see the Security Desk User Guide. Snapshot editor: Users can edit or modify snapshots, including modifying a snapshot to ensure privacy. Snapshot images can be cropped, blurred, masked, rotated, flipped, and re-exported. Users can reset a snapshot and undo/redo edits prior to the snapshot being saved. For more information, see the Security Desk User Guide. Auto-discovery is no longer enabled by default: To avoid issues with unit connectivity, autodiscovery is no longer enabled by default for the following camera extensions: ACTi (ACD,ACM,CAM,KCM,SED,TCD, and TCM) Bosch (All) Interlogix Cam Plus (CamPlus IP) Interlogix MPEG-4 (Legend IP, SymDec, SymNet, SymSafe, and SymVeo) Verint (All) Auto-discovery can be re-enabled in Config Tool by selecting the Multicast period and Broadcast period options on the Extensions tab of the Archiver. Bosch enhancements Add Bosch units using a Domain Name System (DNS) name: You can now manually add Bosch units using a hostname instead of an IP address. This is useful when an encryption certificate cannot be created using an IP address as a common name. For more information, see the Security Center Video Unit Configuration Guide. EN V5.5.C2(4) Last updated: October 24,

Panasonic enhancements Improved software motion detection: Software motion detection in Security Center 5.5 has been improved. Motion detection is no longer based on motion information from the Panasonic camera but from the H.264 video itself. This resolves the problem of i-vmd and Hardware motion detection not working properly when performing PTZ actions. NOTE: Improved software motion detection is only available for Panasonic 3, 4, and 6 series cameras. Furthermore, this feature is only active for newly added units in 5.5 GA. Cameras already existing on the system will continue to use motion detection information from the Panasonic camera. Access control enhancements Security Center 5.5 GA includes the following access control enhancements. Allegion Schlage electronic lock support: NOTE: Requires Softwire 10.2 Synergis Cloud Link supports Allegion Schlage AD-Series wireless (AD-400) and hardwired (AD-300) electronic locks through specific Mercury EP panels (EP2500 and EP1501). The AD-Series locks are non-intelligent devices (online locks with no decision-making capabilities) and require connectivity to Mercury panels, which in turn connect to Synergis Cloud Link or legacy SMCs. The Synergis Cloud Link appliance (and SMC) can support up to 128 Allegion locks. Up to 16 AD-300 locks or 64 AD-400 locks are supported per Mercury EP2500 controller (4 PIM-400s x 16 locks per PIM = 64 locks per EP2500). Up to 8 AD-300 locks or 16 AD-400 locks (1 PIM-400 with 16 locks = 16 locks per EP1501) are supported per Mercury EP1501 controller. Up to 16 AD-300 locks or 64 AD-400 locks per Honeywell PW6K (PW6K is a Mercury OEM). Peer-to-Peer (P2P) communications with Synergis Cloud Link appliances: NOTE: Requires Softwire 10.2 P2P communications enables linking of inputs and outputs across Synergis Cloud Link appliances without relying on a connection to the Access Manager. Input state changes are retransmitted from one Synergis Cloud Link to its peers (other Synergis Cloud Link appliances). Inputs on one appliance can trigger outputs on another appliance. Up to 15 Synergis Cloud Link appliances can be connected as peers, supporting a maximum of 512 outputs and 128 inputs in I/O linking configurations. P2P communications is achieved by having one Synergis Cloud Link designated as the master within an I/O zone, communicating with connected peers. In the event of a master Synergis Cloud Link appliance failure, the Access Manager would not support the role of the master appliance (P2P would not work in this scenario). Global antipassback with Synergis Cloud Link appliances: NOTE: Requires Softwire 10.3 Global antipassback is a feature that extends the antipassback restrictions to areas controlled by multiple Synergis Cloud Link appliances (also known as Synergis unit). EN V5.5.C2(4) Last updated: October 24,

When strict and hard antipassback is applied to an area without global antipassback, a cardholder who entered the area through one door cannot leave the area through another door if both doors are not controlled by the same Synergis unit. Also, the same cardholder who entered the area through one door, can re-enter the area through a different door if the two doors are not controlled by the same Synergis unit. With global antipassback enabled, these two violations can be prevented. Global antipassback only works on areas that are entirely controlled by Synergis units. All units controlling the same area must be managed by the same Access Manager. Enhanced Mercury scalability: NOTE: Requires Softwire 10.2 Customers can connect up to 32 Mercury EP panels (maximum of 128 readers) to a Synergis Cloud Link appliance (or SMC). This has increased from 16 Mercury EP panels in the previous firmware version. Enhanced encryption for Mercury EP panels and Assa Abloy IP locks: NOTE: Requires Softwire 10.2 Mercury EP Panel Encryption: Default TSL Encryption for Mercury EP buses is available to offer greater communication security. TSL encryption will be enabled by default as Softwire 10.2 will be bundled with Mercury firmware Assa Abloy IP Lock Encryption: 128-bit AES encryption is supported between IP locks (POE or WiFi) and the Synergis Cloud Link appliance or SMC. Automatic expiration of unused credentials and inactive cardholders (Synergis Cloud Link, SMC, HID Controllers): To further enhance access control security, credentials can be set to automatically expire if they have not been used for a defined period of time. Users can display which credentials will expire using the expiration date filter in the credentials management task. Cardholders who have been inactive (have not used their credentials) for a defined period of time can also be configured to auto-expire. Expiration values can be copied from on entity to another using the Copy Config capability of Security Center. Area Presence Reporting task enhancements: New filters for cardholders and cardholder groups allow operators to create more targeted area presence reports. Users first select an area, at which point the filters are enabled for use. Two additional columns have been added to the Area Presence reporting task to provide greater detail about cardholders present in an area: Cardholder Group that the cardholder in the report belongs to. Visitor Escort (cardholder) who is visiting a facility and is being hosted (or escorted) by an authorized cardholder. Double swipe supported with the Assa Abloy Aperio lock (v3): NOTE: Requires Softwire 10.2 With a double swipe (double presentation of a credential), users can toggle the lock state from locked to unlocked (or vice versa) for a door equipped with the Aperio locks (V3). New integration with STid keypad-enabled readers: NOTE: Requires Softwire 10.2 EN V5.5.C2(4) Last updated: October 24,

Keypad-enabled STid readers (version 5 or later) are supported. Supported keypad modes include: Card or PIN / Card AND PIN / Card AND PIN on schedule. The STid readers connect to the Synergis Cloud Link appliance (or SMC) over RS-485. Turnstile support with Mercury Panels: Two new Mercury turnstile modes are supported on Mercury Panels: 1 The Mercury panel will ignore a superseding access granted until the previous cardholder goes through the turnstile. 2 The Mercury panel will remember the number of accesses granted and unlock the door once for each access granted as people go through the turnstile. This allows multiple cardholders to badge and then walk through. Access Manager database retention period enhancement: You can now keep events for up to 9999 days, previously the maximum was 999 days. LPR enhancements Security Center 5.5 GA includes the following LPR enhancements. Single read on trigger: Users can configure the system to capture a plate after a signal has been received from an electrical device, Security Center event-to-action, or a hot action. This feature is designed for use with fixed AutoVu installations and is ideal for controlling vehicle access to gated parking lots. This feature is supported with SharpOS 11.3 and requires Sharp 3.0 and XS hardware. For more information, see the Sharp Administrator Guide. Deleting a hotlist hit: If a license plate has been added to a hotlist in error and there is one or more reads of a license plate in a hotlist, the user now has the ability to delete the hit from the database. This can be done in Security Desk from the Hit Report task. When a hit is deleted, it is added as an activity trail. IMPORTANT: You can no longer view and control Sharp outputs from the LPR Manager. To do so, you must enroll the Sharp as a video unit in the Archiver. If this is not part of your current Security Center license, please contact GTAC. After upgrading to Security Center 5.5, you must also reconfigure any existing event-to-actions that use outputs associated to an LPR Processing Unit under the LPR Manager since those event-to-actions will no longer exist. Resolved issues in Security Center 5.5 GA Resolved issues are software issues from previous releases which have been fixed in the current release. The following software issues were resolved in Security Center 5.5 GA. Solution/ Unit Issue Description Access Access rules for doors are not sorted in a logical order. 18 Solution/ Unit Issue Description Access After performing an upgrade to Security Center 5.3 SR2, and upgrading the Synergis Appliance to Softwire version 10.0, the Synergis Appliance fails to synchronize correctly. Access The synchronization symbol ( ) remains on the door icon in Security Desk tiles even after the access control units have finished synchronizing with the Access Manager. All Event-to-action: The Edge storage medium failure event for a camera entity is not triggered and the configured action is not executed. All When drawing a region in the Reads task, the same drawing appears in the Monitoring task. Workaround: If the duplicated shape in the Monitoring task interferes with your work, you may be able to perform the same work in the Maps task. All Unnecessary load is added to the system when deleting entities that are not part of the root partition. All Security Desk: When you right-click and sort Public tasks by Name, the sort reverts back to Type every time Security Desk is restarted. All In the User Management task, the Default map is not automatically updated with the new areas and new maps. Workaround: Restart Config Tool to see the new areas and new maps. All When a map is opened in the Maps task and no change is made to the map view, if you then open the Monitoring task and select Switch to map mode, this will cause the view of the map in the Maps task to change. Workaround: If you modify the view of the map in the Maps task, it will no longer be affected by changes in the Monitoring task. All When a BeNomad map is open in the Maps task, if you then open the Monitoring task and select Switch to nap mode, this will cause the view of the map in the Monitoring task to change location. Every time you click between the Maps task and the Monitoring task in Map mode, the view will change. All When selecting multiple entities to add to a map in Plan Manager, if one of the selected entities cannot be added, this prevents all of the entities from being added. All In the Monitoring task, double-clicking on an event in map mode can move the focus of the map to an unrelated location. EN V5.5.C2(4) Last updated: October 24,

Solution/ Unit Issue Description All When setting up the query filter for a Reads/hits per day report, setting the time range for a Specific date and selecting "Now" as the To date returns results for only the first day. Workaround: Enter a specific date in the From and To fields. All In the Security Desk Monitoring task, if a video tile is positioned on top of a map, the live video feed is lost when a Directory failover occurs. All In Security Desk's Options dialog box, the search does not return results for custom events. All The Auto-lock feature does not work as expected. The user is locked out indefinitely. Workaround: When prompted to log on, wait for approximately a minute and click Cancel so you are logged off Security Desk. You will be able to log on after this. All Users that are imported from an Active Directory within the same domain must include the domain name when logging in. All Security Desk: When Windows has been running for approximately 25 days straight, you cannot maximize the canvas to full screen. Workaround: Restart the computer. All In Config Tool, if there are no tasks in the Favorites and recent items or you remove all the tasks from your favorites, the main Tasks page is empty. Workaround: Open a new task so it is added to the Favorites and recent items. Arecont Arecont AV40185DN: If the frame rate is 1 fps (the minimum) and the resolution is 3648 x 2752 (the maximum), you receive transmission lost and unit lost events. Axis Axis P3215-V: When Image rotation is set to 90 or 270 degrees on the Hardware tab, the motion block count does not work for the test zone on the Motion detection tab. HID When adding or removing federated cardholders or cardholder groups, the number of credentials shown in Config Tool is inaccurate. LPR The LPR Manager role aborts updating a permit when the permit file is in the process of being locked. LPR When a Patroller entity's time zone is changed, the timestamps displayed in the Monitoring task and tiles are not consistent with the time zone defined in Patroller. EN V5.5.C2(4) Last updated: October 24,

Solution/ Unit Issue Description Panasonic Motion detection: Motion blocks don't turn red in the test zone on the Motion detection tab for cameras that use the Panasonic extension. Pelco For Pelco IMM12018 cameras, when viewing a digital zoom preset that was created before SC 5.4 SR3, it is not possible to return to the nondewarped view. Video If you attempt to set the PTZ pattern name or Preset name using the methods provided in the camera class SetPtzPatternName and SetPtzPresetName, the following exception will occur: You only have read access on this member since it is an entity that you Video Security Desk: The scroll bar for PTZ cameras is still displayed even if the "Display overlay controls" option is disabled. Video Security Desk: The Camera configuration report does not report the correct values for cameras that have been added as multicast listeners. Video When working with multiple displays, the camera widget of the secondary display does not appear for a selected tile. Video Federation: The PTZ speed slider is disabled in the UI when Security Center 5.5 is federating Security Center 5.3 Video When using Hardware Acceleration with an NVIDIA GTX card, there is a high memory usage. Video When exporting AAC audio and video to an MP4, Windows media player and VLC do not play the audio portion correctly. Workaround: Install an additional codec, such as "K-Lite Codec Pack" for Windows Media Player to play audio and video properly. Video When starting playback using the "Go to specific time" button and then fast forwarding to 100x, the playback automatically jumps near live after a few seconds. Video CT: When browsing for a camera encryption certificate, the 'Select certificate' dialog box immediately closes after a certificate is selected, making it impossible to validate the certificate or enter the password. Workaround: To validate the certificate, enter the certificate path and file name manually. If the certificate requires a password, enter the password before browsing for the certificate. 21 Solution/ Unit Issue Description Video Omnicast federation: When viewing live video from a federated camera, if you try to pause and resume viewing, the video does not playback. You will also receive an error that says the video is not being recorded even though it is. Workaround: To validate the certificate, enter the certificate path and file name manually. If the certificate requires a password, enter the password before browsing for the certificate. Video In the Archiver transfer task, when configuring the Transfer group properties, you can select "0" in the Allow Simultaneous downloads field. Workaround: Click the Live button to reset the controls. Video Security Desk: When you drag and drop a playback sequence to a different tile and then select Switch to live, the PTZ commands are not available. Video Archive transfer: When an archiver failover occurs while a transfer is in progress, the transfer status and details are incorrect and error messages are displayed. Video When you use the Add network location button on the Archiver to add a local path, the Archiver is not able to delete the oldest files on that Archiver. EN V5.5.C2(4) Last updated: October 24,

Workaround: Restart Security Desk and run the benchmark tool again. All Maps: When you draw a rectangle with a width that is greater than the height, the shape of the rectangle changes after you click Apply. All Schedules: When using a Specific or Ordinal schedule, changing the Time coverage from a Range to All day has no effect. All Maps: The Maps designer task does not work properly in Arabic. All Maps: When you click on the Alarms icon in the Map designer task, the Alarms dialog box is empty even though there are alarms configured on the system.
