2 ETM System v4.0 Minimum System and Network Refer to the sections below for the following information: System requirements for installing and using the ETM Software on both Solaris and Windows.. Minimum data network requirements. Supported telco network settings, including basic line specifications and signal strengths. ETM Software Minimum System Remote TeleView Console Only The tables below provide the minimum system requirements for installation and use of the ETM System software on both Solaris and Windows. Separate tables are provided for remote TeleView Consoles and for the complete ETM Software. The table below provides minimum system requirements for installation and use of a remote TeleView Console on both Windows and Solaris. Hardware and Software Windows PII 350Mhz computer or equivalent. 128 MB of RAM (256 recommended). 50 MB free hard drive space for installation. Video capabilities supporting 800 x 600, 256-color display. Microsoft Windows 98 with latest service pack, Windows NT 4.0 Workstation with Service Pack 6a, or Windows 2000 with latest service pack. TCP/IP network connectivity with dynamic or static IP addresses (TeleView Console only; all other ETM System components require static IP addresses). Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or later (optional, 4.0 provided on the ETM Platform CD-ROM), for viewing and printing ETM Platform documentation (PDF) files. Rev B ETM System v4.0 Minimum System and Network 2
3 Hardware and Software Solaris Sun Microsystems Ultra 5 Workstation or Server, 333 MHz or above. Minimum 128 MB RAM. Minimum of 50 MB of free hard drive space for installation. Sun Microsystems Solaris 7 or 8 with graphical support. The operating system should be patched using the latest available Java 2 Platform, Standard Editon (J2SE) patch cluster, available at the SunSolve website: TCP/IP network connectivity with a dedicated IP address (Note: An IP mask can be used instead of a dedicated IP for the TeleView Console only). Java 2 Runtime Environment (JRE) v 1.3.1_04 Solaris Reference Implementation (provided on the ETM Platform CD-ROM). Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or later (4.0 provided on the ETM Platform CD-ROM), for viewing and printing ETM Platform documentation (PDF) files. Complete ETM System Software The table below provides minimum system requirements for installation and use of the complete ETM System software. A complete ETM System software installation includes the ETM Server, TeleAudit Server, ETM Database Maintenance Tool, and TeleView Console. Hardware and Software Windows Hardware requirements vary according to the number of monitored spans and call volume. (Installation of the complete ETM software, not including the database, requires approximately 75 MB of hard drive space). Video capabilities supporting 800 x 600, 256-color display. One Hayes-compatible modem on the ETM Management Server computer (optional, for the Page Track feature). Oracle 8i, version , or Oracle 9i, version 9.0.1, for the ETM Database.(Note: Oracle 8i version consists of the Oracle 8i software with patches.1.1 and.1.5). Windows NT 4.0 (Workstation or Server) with Service Pack 6a or Windows 2000 (Workstation, Server, Advanced Server, or Datacenter) with latest service pack. TCP/IP network connectivity with a static IP address. Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or later (4.0 provided on the ETM Platform CD-ROM), for viewing and printing ETM Platform documentation (PDF) files. Solaris Hardware requirements vary according to the number of monitored spans and call volume. (Installation of the complete ETM software, not including the database, requires approximately 75 MB of hard drive space.) Sun Microsystems Solaris 7 or 8 with graphical support and a Virtual Frame Buffer [Vfb] (required by the ETM System startup scripts). The operating system should be patched using the latest available Java 2 Platform, Standard Editon (J2SE) patch cluster, available at the SunSolve website: Rev B ETM System v4.0 Minimum System and Network 3
4 Hardware and Software TCP/IP network connectivity with dedicated IP addresses for all system components. (Note: An IP mask can be used instead for the TeleView Console only.) Oracle 8i, version , or 9i, version 9.0.1, for the ETM Database (Note: Oracle version consists of the Oracle 8i software with the applicable patches available from the Sun website.) Java 2 Runtime Environment (JRE) v 1.3.1_04 Solaris Reference Implementation (provided on the ETM Platform CD-ROM). Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or later (4.0 provided on the ETM Platform CD-ROM), for viewing and printing ETM Platform documentation (PDF) files. ETM Server Hardware Data Network For information about data firewall traversal requirements, see the ETM System Installation Guide. Supported Telecom Network Settings The amount of hard drive space, required memory, recommended number and speed of processors, and so on varies widely according to the number of Spans to be supported. Contact SecureLogix Customer Support at SLC-4Help for a server sizing recommendation tailored for your site. ETM System Components communicate via TCP/IP and require a stable data network connection. In particular, the ETM Server must be able to maintain the connection to the ETM Database or the ETM Server application will exit. TeleView Console Ethernet 10/100 shared with dynamic or static IP address. Appliances Ethernet 10/100 switched with static IP addresses. ETM Server/TeleAudit Server Ethernet 100/1000 switched with static IP address. Oracle DBMS Ethernet 100/1000 switched with static IP address. The sections below list the supported telecom network settings for ETM Spans, including: Line Types Framing Line Coding Signal Types Tone Types Outgoing Numbering Format Incoming Numbering Format Format Precedence ISDN PRI Protocol Variants SMDR settings Signal strength specifications Rev B ETM System v4.0 Minimum System and Network 4
