5 About This Document This document provides requirements, recommendations, and notes for planning an installation of BIOVIA Notebook This document lists third-party hardware and software that are supported for use with Notebook The hardware and software and their versions are subject to change. Thus, this document will be updated as appropriate and is available with the Notebook installation artifacts or from BIOVIA Support. For the server system requirements, see BIOVIA Notebook 2018 Server System Requirements. Definitions For the purpose of this document the following definitions are used: Supported: The hardware or software was tested against Notebook 2018 by BIOVIA, is expected to function as documented and will be supported by BIOVIA. If issues are found that are specific to these versions of the hardware or software, they will be addressed per the BIOVIA Software support policy. Not Supported: Any hardware/software not specifically listed in this document is not supported by BIOVIA. These are used at the customer's risk and BIOVIA makes no guarantee regarding the capability of unsupported hardware or software to function with BIOVIA Notebook Known to Be Incompatible: Software, or versions of software, that will not function correctly in conjunction with BIOVIA Notebook Introduction Page 1

6 Client Requirements Microsoft Windows For Microsoft Windows, both a Web Client and a Windows Client are available. Supported Windows Operating Systems BIOVIA supports the installation of Notebook 2018 Web Client and Windows Client on the following operating systems. Operating System Windows SP1 Windows Client The prerequisite for using the Notebook 2018 Windows Client on Windows is:.net Framework Supported Integration with Desktop Applications for Windows Client Software Microsoft Excel Microsoft Word BIOVIA Draw 2017 R PerkinElmer ChemDraw ChemAxon MarvinSketch Note: To ensure that double-byte characters render correctly in the editor and final PDF use the Microsoft IME setting for the input language. To render Asian fonts in PDF sections, download font support packages for Adobe Reader X: Japanese Korean Web Client The following prerequisites are required for using the Notebook 2018 Web Client on Windows: Page 2 Notebook Client System Requirements

Chrome 57+ Tip: To run Microsoft Edge browser on Windows 10 the web socket communication must be enabled. PDF Display In order to display Notebook PDF documents properly you must either use a browser with a built-in PDF viewer or install the Adobe Reader plugin: Supported Integration with Desktop Applications for Web Client Software Comments Microsoft Excel (Office 365) Microsoft Word (Office 365) BIOVIA currently only supports the desktop versions of the Office applications that are released as part of an Office 365 subscription or a "standalone" installation of Office. BIOVIA applications only support the desktop versions of the Office applications when installed using the MSI installer. BIOVIA does not support the mobile Office applications which are delivered as part of the Office 365 subscription, or the desktop versions of Office applications installed by the Click-to-Run installers unless otherwise stated. 8 Software Comments ChemAxon MarvinSketch Windows only. MarvinSketch cannot be used to transfer chemistry to a Reaction section. PerkinElmer ChemDraw Note: The BIOVIA Plugin for Windows may not work properly on virtual machines or terminal servers. 9 Apple Mac OS X Systems For the Apple Mac OS X systems, the Notebook 2018 Web Client is supported. Supported Apple Mac Operating Systems BIOVIA supports the installation of Notebook 2018 Web Client on the following operating systems.
