4 2 To Do before installation 2.1 Get names and passwords Complete this form with your accounts and passwords, and store it at a safe place. Name of the server: sql2008admin password imdba password: Database: Files folder: (same as database name) Company number: Site id: Database name, Company number and Site id will be provided by StruSoft. One demonstration company (1100) will be available on CD or ftp. Use following names for the demonstration company: Database name: impact_1101 Files folder: c:\impact_1101 Company number 1100 Site id Check system requirements Check that the computers follow the recommended system requirements. 2.3 Make sure you have the latest installation files These files can be downloaded from StruSoft s web page under the customer pages. 2.4 Create System Administrator Account on server System Administrator Account sql2008admin If you are unfamiliar with how to create user accounts, please refer the documentation of your current operating system. Log in as an administrator on the server and create a local account named sql2008admin Make sure that: You place the newly created account as a member in the Administrators group. The Password never expires option is selected Database Owner Account imdba If you are unfamiliar with how to create user accounts, please refer the documentation of your current operating system. 3

The Password never expires option is selected. 2.5 IMPACT User Account Collect windows user account (logon names) of all impact users. 2.6 Create and share a common database folder on server Create a new folder named for example C:\impact_1101 on the server and share it with all IMPACT clients. 4

6 3 Installing IMPACT Server 3.1 Install Sql Server 2008 R2 3.2 Install IMPACT Precast Server When you are running the IMPACT Precast Server setup, you shall be logged on as sql2008admin. 5

8 Select DBA (Database Owner) name imdba and database name impact_1101 or a name provided by StruSoft. You can decide where to place database and log file. 7

9 Please select the IMPACT users with Windows logon names. At least one should be Admin. The Admin users will have rights to run the IMPACT Administrative Tool. 8

10 3.3 Install IMPACT Adminstrative Tool Run the Client installer and select Administrative Tool only. 3.4 Licensing IMPACT Precast If you have purchased network licenses, License Server has to be installed. Setup and installing instructions is located on the IMPACT Precast CD. 9

11 4 Installing IMPACT Precast Client You shall be logged on as an ordinary user when you perform all the steps below. The user s account must have been granted the privileges to install new programs on the computer (including local disk access and the rights to write in the Windows registry). 4.1 Install AutoCAD Install AutoCAD 2010/2011/2012 or the corresponding AutoCAD Architecture or AutoCAD Structural Detailing versions. If any patches or service packs are available, install of these is strongly recommended. Important: Once after that you have installed AutoCAD, it is important to start and stop AutoCAD at least once. If AutoCAD however has been installed earlier and recently has been used on this machine, you can skip this step. The reason that you have to start and stop AutoCAD is that the IMPACT profile, is based upon the default profile of AutoCAD. This profile is not complete until AutoCAD has been started. 4.2 Install IMPACT Reinforcement Install IMPACT Reinforcement It is recommended to install IMPACT Reinforcement in either C:\Program\IMPACT or C:\Program Files\IMPACT, depending on the language of your operating system. For Windows 7 users (with UAC on) you need to right click and select Run as Administrator on the installation file. 10

15 NB! After installing you need to start once and then close. For Windows 7 users (with UAC on) you need to right click and select Run as Administrator on the Reinforcement start. 14

16 4.3 Install IMPACT Precast client Important: IMPACT Reinforcement and IMPACT Precast always have to be installed in the same folder! For Windows 7 users (with UAC on) you need to right click and select Run as Administrator on the installation file. 15

18 If SQL Server isn t installed as the default instance the instance name must be given. It s also possible with ip number\instance number. The Project or common files doesn t have to be on mapped network drives \\servername\impact\project can also be used. 17

19 If you have users connecting that doesnt belong to the domain they cant use Windows Authentication they need to use SQL server Authetication instead. 18

20 Choose profile option. You have three options: 1. Create a new profile. This will be based upon the profile in the drop list. If the profile Impact already exists, it will be re-created. 2. Alter a currently existing profile. This option completes the profile with menus and paths, necessary for running IMPACT Precast and Reinforcement (if it is configured on this machine). Please use this option with care. Our advice is that you always make a copy of your existing profile, before you starts altering it. 3. Do not create or alter any profiles. If you don t use workspaces you can leave this as default. 19

22 Start IMPACT Precast once For Windows 7 users (with UAC on) you need to right click and select Run as Administrator on the IMPACT Precast AutoCAD start. 21

23 4.4 Configuration in AutoCAD 2012 on client machines There are some things in AutoCAD default settings in AutoCAD 2012 that needs to be changed to get some features in IMPACT Precast to work correctly. To access this setting type options in AutoCAD s command. After changes have been made you need to shut down your AutoCAD then the changes will be saved Group display mode This setting in AutoCAD that is default checked will give problems when moving element mark text separately from the element mark. It will also give troubles on elevations when moving components using grip points. Uncheck the setting Show single grip on groups. 22

24 4.4.2 Show rollover tooltip If this setting is checked the tooltip in IMPACT Precast will not work Settings if you present your shop drawings in layouts If this setting is one AutoCAD will add default viewport to each layout. This setting will make the update of the layouts to work correct. 23

26 4.5 Licensing IMPACT Precast Install the license system. If you have purchased network licenses, your license file has to be updated. Instructions regarding this are located on StruSoft s web page under the customer pages. 25

27 4.6 Configuring a new user on the machine When IMPACT Reinforcement and IMPACT Precast client is installed, the user currently logged in automatically will be configured to run these programs. This configuration creates user profiles and workspaces and also makes the menus visible in AutoCAD. However if a second user shall be able to run IMPACT Reinforcement and IMPACT Precast on this machine, this configuration has to be performed manually: 1. Log on as the new user. 2. Start and stop AutoCAD once 3. Run the AutoCAD Configuration for IMPACT Reinforcement (see the IMPACT Reinforcement program group in the start menu). 4. Run the AutoCAD Configuration for IMPACT Precast (see the IMPACT Precast program group in the start menu). 26

32 5.2 DWG TrueView Install DWG TrueView. It s a free download at Configure Drawing Startup. Start IMPACT Project Manager and click Drawing Startup Configuration in the System Menu. Select DWG TrueView as Executable. 5.3 Licensing IMPACT Precast Install the licence system. If you have purchased network licenses, your license file has to be updated. 33 6 Installing IMPACT on a Local Database Follow these steps to install server and client on the same computer: 1. Install Sql Server Install IMPACT Precast Server 3. Install AutoCAD 4. Install IMPACT Reinforcement 5. Install IMPACT Precast Client 6. Licensing IMPACT Precast Server should be computername \ SQL Server instance name 32

34 7 Installing IMPACT Client Silent The easiest way to create the installation code is to run the installer from the desired location and go through it step by step choosing alternatives. Before clicking on the install button, click on the save batch button. This will create a.bat-file with the correct code which can be run by itself, or used to copy into your own batch files. The following list describes the available commands. 35 8 To Do after installation 8.1 Plot Configuration When the IMPACT Precast plot system shall be configured, you can do this from a client. When the configuration for this client is done and the plotting works, all settings simply can be copied to the rest of the clients in the local network. We recommend that you follow these steps during the configuration: 1. Install the IMPACT Precast plot style tables (8.1.1) 2. Add your plotters in AutoCAD (8.1.2) 3. Add your plotters in the Impact Administrator Tool (8.1.3) 4. Copy plot files to the network (1.1.4) When the configuration is ready, it may be shared to the rest of the clients in one of two different ways: Install the IMPACT Precast plot style tables To access the plot style tables impact.ctb and impact_halv.ctb, you have to install them on the client. You will find these files on the IMPACT Precast CD1 in the folder templates\plotting. The destination directory depends on what AutoCAD version you have configured IMPACT Precast to. Typically you shall copy them to the Plot Styles folder in the C:\Program files\autocad 200x or Autodesk Architectural Desktop 200x folder Add your plotters in AutoCAD Add your plotters in AutoCAD as PC3-files. This is preferable done with the Add-A-Plotter Wizard. Please keep the plotter names you enter in mind, because you will use them in the next step when you shall add the plotters in the IMPACT Precast Project Manager. See the picture below. Step 1. Click on System Printer <Next> Step 2. Choose you System Printer <Next> 34

36 Step 3. Write the file name for the new Plot system. <Next> OBS! This file name you will use in PM to plot. Avoid space in the plotter name. Step 4. <Finish> 35

37 8.1.3 Add your plotters in the IMPACT Precast Administrative tool IMPACT Precast will not recognize your plotters unless you add them to the database. You can administrate plotters (PC3-files) from the IMPACT Administrative tool. Please refer to the IMPACT Precast Administrative tool help, on how do this. Step 5. On the right side (Grind control) Double click with the mouse abd then write the name of the plotter. The plotters that you type in are the ones that you can choose when you plot your drawings from IMPACT Precast Project Manager. To help about setting up the plotting systems please have a look at the following link Copy plot files to the network If you want to avoid adding the plotters on every single client, you may prefer to copy the plot files to the network. You then can access these files from all the clients in the network. Please refer to your local CAD-coordinator for instructions how this can be done. 36

40 8.2.2 Site Id Right click on the Site node and choose Properties. 39

41 8.3 Import Company Settings Please see IMPACT Administrative Tool. From the File menu there is function for importing company setting. Open: User can specify the location of zip file by selecting the button. Application will show the path from the last time. Check: On selecting the "Check" button, application will display the information related to "Content", "Created" and "By" fields. Replace existing company settings: Application will replace the existing settings if checkbox is selected. OK: Application will import the zip file contents and update the database. 40

42 If you are using the demonstration company you should import both impact_cs_1100_111_2011-xx-xx.zip and impact_cs_1101_111_2011-xx-xx.zip (Please find the latest files on CD or ftp). 41

44 8.4 Import Company Components Please see IMPACT Administrative Tool. The import functionality is designed to import the compress files that the export creates. In other words you don t need to uncompress them. Even if the export only consists of three sandwich endcaps you can stand on the top level and import it. IMPACT Precast will read the log file and then it knows what to import. Select the compress file and select Check. 43

45 Information about the export filed will be showed. If you are ready just press OK and start importing. If you are using the demonstration company you should import impact_components_1100_111_2011-xx-xx.zip (Please find the latest file on CD or ftp). 44
