3 Important Messages! PLEASE READ BEFORE BEGINNING INSTALL PROCESS NOTE: You can update the Software on the HP server at the same time you update the Software on UPN & BPP Servers. NOTE: To prevent the user of UtilityPOWERnet from having to wait for the deployment of the new software the morning after the software load, we advise that your employees log off their computers but leave them turned on. Please be aware of Power Management settings. Even if your employee leaves their computer on, the software will not be updated once the computer goes into Power Save Mode. Please consider changing the workstation/laptop not to hibernate when scheduling the software installation. NOTE: Please note that SEDC recommends loading the software contained in this package as soon as possible. Many changes are contained within this software package that will enhance your current system. No requested changes (or necessary changes) can be pushed to you unless you are on the current software so please load soon. NOTE: Please contact an SEDC support representative both before and after your software installation. By alerting us prior to your scheduled install date, we can insure the immediate availability of any updates that may have come available after your software package was created. And, if you are planning to install your software outside of our normal on-call hours, alerting a support representative in advance will enable us to provide you with support should you require assistance with your installation. When you have completed your software install, please contact an SEDC representative to receive any scheduled updates or file pushes. Spring 2015 Page 3

4 Steps To Perform - Prior To Loading Software IMPORTANT! Customers With Handheld Devices Before loading the software, all routes must be uploaded to the Linux System, and the files must be updated. The next day's routes cannot be created until after the software is loaded. Extract files for handhelds must be purged. Our software purges all other extract files. If you do not know the commands to do this, contact Billing Product Support. WARNING Do not load handhelds prior to the install unless you are certain that all readings will be received and posted PRIOR to the installation of V36. All handhelds must be returned to the utility before the installation. Spring 2015 Page 4

5 IMPORTANT! All Updating Must Be Completed All programs that create files that are used by another program for updating must have the updating completed. For example, delinquent notices, cutoff notices, drafts, refund checks, billing registers, payroll process, work order process, estate refund checks, etc. If the utility is using any of the laser printing options such as laser checks (in any of the systems), W2, 1099, cutoff notices, etc, then all files need to be printed before loading the software. If the utility is using logic associated with single digit parameter 337 in the billing system, then the refund check process needs to be completed before the software is loaded or the process needs to be restarted after the software is loaded. If the utility is using CA to GA integration and/or CC to GA integration, then the release software installation process for all systems must complete before the summarization process begins in any system. NOTE: If the laser bill and/or laser delinquent notice option is being used, be sure the latest file(s) has been pulled for printing before the software is loaded, and that additional files are not created until after the software is loaded. 6 IMPORTANT! Remote Payment Customers Prior to Install If you are using Bill Presentment and Payment, IVR, or Remote Payment Devices, you should disable bill presentment and payment on the BPP server before starting the upgrade, either on the UPN/BPP server or on the Linux server. If you do not disable bill presentment and payment on the BPP server, then payments may be processed during the install. This may be confusing if you are comparing totals and may cause issues if you have to restore to the point before the install. This will be done by placing the BPP service in maintenance mode. The instructions below include the steps to place BPP in maintenance mode before the install starts and removing it from maintenance mode after the install is complete. Spring 2015 Page 6

7 Install Instructions - UPN/BPP IMPORTANT The Install Service must be upgraded before Online Billing (BPP) and UtilityPOWERnet (UPN) are installed, or the process will fail. Upgrade the Install Service software as follows: 1. Reboot the UPN and BPP servers. See note above for remote payment (BPP, IVR, RPS) customers. 2. Insert the DVD labeled V36 UPN, BPP, & Help into the DVD-ROM drive on the UPN server. 3. Log into the UPN (or BPP) server as Powernet. 4. Installing software: a. If installing on a UPN server, open the SEDC Server Components folder on the desktop and double-click the SEDC_CS_Webify_Control icon to launch the applicable Service Control window. b. If installing on an Online Billing (BPP) server, open the SEDC Server Components folder on the desktop and double-click the SEDC_CS_BPP_Control shortcut to launch the On-Line Billing (BPP) Service Control window. c. If installing on a UPN and BPP combo server, you can use either the UPN or BPP control, and only need to install software once on the server. 5. Select the Upgrade Install Service tab. 6. Verify the Source Directory is set to e:\installsetup (where e: is the drive letter of the CD drive). 7. Select the Upgrade Install Service button. The example image is shown on the next page. 9 10. The SEDC Install Service will be copied from the DVD onto the server. When the copy is complete, a message dialog displays - select OK. If an error is encountered, an error message will be displayed. You may not be able to upgrade until the problem is corrected. If an error message displays, please call SEDC Technical Support. 11. Select Save. A message dialog displays - select OK. 12. A message dialog displays Select Yes. Spring 2015 Page 9

10 13. Another related dialog displays - select OK. 14. Close the applicable SEDC Control window (select the Close button in the lower right corner). 15. From the desktop, open the SEDC Server Component folder and double-click the SEDC_CS_ATP_Control. This control will manage the ATP service. 16. If the Service Status reported on the control is Stopped (in red), proceed to step 25. The service will most likely be stopped on the BPP server if you are running separate UPN and BPP servers.. 11 17. If the Service Status reported on the control is Running (in green), you will need to stop the oracle calls. 18. Click on the Stop Oracle Calls tab. Spring 2015 Page 11

12 19. Select the double right arrows to move all instances to the Stopped Instances list. 20. Select the Save command button to save the changes. Spring 2015 Page 12

13 21. Select the Yes command button in the Confirm Save dialog. 22. Select the OK command button in the Saved Successfully dialog. Spring 2015 Page 13

14 23. Select the Restart Service command button to restart the service. You will see the service go to a Stopped service status and then back to a Running service status. 24. Select the Close command button to close the service control. Spring 2015 Page 14

15 25. On the BPP server, from the desktop, open the SEDC Server Component folder and double-click the SEDC_CS_BPP_Control and select the Advanced tab. Spring 2015 Page 15

16 26. Adjacent to the day of the week on which you want to run the release, change the Shut Down time to be 15 minutes prior to when you plan to begin the installation. Change the Restart time to 3 hours after the Shut Down time. Finally, check the Enable box to enable the service maintenance window. Spring 2015 Page 16

19 32. From the desktop, open the SEDC Server Component folder and double-click the SEDC_CS_INSTALL_CONTROL. This control will copy software from the DVD into the production directories. SEDC Networking will have entered the default values into the fields in this window. You should only have to verify the settings and the appropriate operating system. 33. Select Save Configuration button (lower left corner). A message dialog displays Select Yes. 34. A message dialog displays - Select OK. Spring 2015 Page 19

20 35. Select Begin Upgrade button. 36. A message dialog displays to alert you to the fact that all web applications on the server will be disabled during the install - Select OK. Spring 2015 Page 20

21 37. A message dialog displays - Select OK. All SEDC services are stopped, and the files are installed from the DVD into the production directories on the server. When the installation is complete, the Progress Indicator extends across the screen, and all SEDC services that were stopped are restarted. 38. During the installation, the following message will appear, select Yes to continue with the installation of Help files. 39. When the installation has completed, close the SEDC Install Service Control window by selecting the Exit button. 40. Reboot the UPN and BPP servers. It is best to reboot the UPN and BPP servers at the same time the Linux backend server is rebooted. 41. After the BPP server reboots, you will need to take the BPP service out of maintenance mode. IMPORTANT If you are a remote payment customer, this will re-enable bill presentment and payment on the BPP server. If you do not take the BPP service out of maintenance mode, payments will not be processed. Spring 2015 Page 21

22 42. On the BPP server, from the desktop, open the SEDC Server Component folder and double-click the SEDC_CS_BPP_Control and select the Advanced tab. Spring 2015 Page 22

23 43. Uncheck the Enable box that you checked prior to the installation. Spring 2015 Page 23

After the UPN server reboots, you will need to restart the Oracle calls. Open the SEDC Server Component folder and double-click the SEDC_CS_ATP_Control. This control will manage the ATP service. IMPORTANT If the ATP service Oracle calls are not restarted, UPN will not function. Spring 2015 Page 25

26 49. If the Service Status reported on the control is Stopped (in red), proceed to step If the Service Status reported on the control is Running (in green), you will need to start the oracle calls. Spring 2015 Page 26

27 51. Click on the Stop Oracle Calls tab. 52. Select the double left arrows to clear all instances to the Stopped Instances list. Spring 2015 Page 27

31 Considerations Finishing the Install Process SPECIAL NOTE The Install Service will ONLY start back those services that were running when the install began. In the event that the Install fails, reboot the server. SPECIAL NOTE If the Oracle calls where stopped in the ATP service control, they will have to be restarted. SPECIAL NOTE If the BPP service was placed in maintenance mode, it will have to be taken out of maintenance mode. IMPORTANT: Please contact an SEDC support representative when you have completed the software installation process in order to receive any software updates that may have come available after your software package was created.
