4 2 Connecting to IGS - NT 2.1 How to established connection 1. Ensure null modem cable is connected to PC either directly to DB-9 Port or via USB serial adaptor. With the controller is connected to the RS232 DB-9 Port. Picture 1. Verify which COM port is being utilized in PC: a. Click on the Start button. b. Select CONTROL PANEL. c. Click Switch to Classic View. d. Select System. Picture 2. System Properties. 4

5 e. Once the system properties window comes up, click on the Hardware tap. f. Click on Device Manager. g. Click the + button to expand Ports (COM & LPT). h. Identify which com port is being used. (Picture 3.). If no com port appears in the list, it will be necessary to verify the connection of the NULL Modem Cable, power is supplied to the controller, and that the proper driver is installed if a USB to serial adaptor is being used. 6 2.1.1 Controller address, InteliGen NT Verify the Controller Address and RS232(1) Mode: a. At the IGS-NT controller press ESC key to access the Menu screen. b. Press the down arrow key until the cursor is on Setpoint and press ENT. c. Press the down arrow key until the cursor is on Comms settings and press ENT. d. Note the Value for Contr. Address. e. Ensure RS232(1) is set to Direct. Picture 5. InteliGen NT. f. Press the down arrow key until RS485(1) conv. is displayed. g. Ensure RS485(1) conv. is set to disabled. 6

Press the down Arrow key until the cursor is on Setpoints. c. Press Enter button. d. Press the down arrow key until the cursor is on Comm Settings. e. Note the value for Contr. Address. f. 10 c. Communication with the IGS-NT controller should now be established. You can confirm that on the bottom of the InteliMonitor window you can see Connection: Direct, Dde server: Running and it is displayed green. See on picture 9. Picture 9.
