Contact Clack Technology Systems
1. Installing the CMS On Your Computer a. You can download the CMS Software by going to the following link: i. ii. Choose the correct download based on your computer s operating system. For Windows, there is a 64-bit & 32-bit version of CMS. iii. To find out which version of Windows you are using, go to your Start Menu, then select Control Panel. Under Control Panel, open System. In the System window that appears, you will find SYSTEM TYPE. This will show you if your system is 64 or 32 bit. b. Install the CMS Software. i. Simply open the installer you downloaded from our web site, and run the installation wizard. ii. For Windows, a shortcut to CMS will be placed on the desktop. iii. For MAC users, CMS will appear in your Applications folder found in Finder.
2. The CMS Main Dashboard Above is the main view when you first open the CMS software. The Device Tree will display all of the camera systems you have installed and added to the system. The Split View Selection is where you can select how many cameras you would like displayed on one screen. The arrows to the left and right show more split selections, up to 144 cameras on one screen. While in live view of cameras, double click on a specific camera to view only that one camera on the screen. To return to the previous split view of all your cameras, simply double click on the camera again to return.
a. Adding a Camera System i. You can add as many systems as you own to this system, provided they have been installed by Clack Technology Systems. DVRs not installed by us, will not work in this software. ii. To add a system, simply click on the Add Device button (refer to main dashboard screen above) This screen will appear: iii. Name: You may choose the name to your preference, such as a store number, or address. iv. The Address is the Internet address of the cameras. CTS provides a free DNS name pointer for each location. You may obtain the address by ing us: info@clacksys.com 1. Your DNS Name will be in this format: [NAME].CLACKCAMS.COM v. The Port is always 8000 vi. The ID is admin without quotes vii. The password field is left blank. Continue Below
Your Add Device screen should look similar to this: viii. Once you have the correct values in the window, click on OK ix. Your Camera System should now be displayed under the Device Tree on the Main Dashboard
b. Connecting to Your System i. Under the Device Tree, right click (CTRL+Click for MAC Users) on the system you wish to connect to ii. Select CONNECT DEVICE iii. After it has connected, you will see an arrow appear to the left of the device in the device tree. iv. Right click (CTRL+Click for MAC Users) on the system again, and select Connect All Cameras v. You can also alternatively, press the arrow to the left of the device name, and right-click on individual cameras to connect to, one at a time.
3. Playback of Footage a. Select Device to Playback From i. You will need to click on the Add New View Tab, and then click on the Playback button. From there you will select the device as shown below: ii. The new view will show all playback options for the system, including where you can backup a section of video needed. Below is the main playback dashboard:
The calendar on the left will show dates with footage available in Teal, and dates wit no footage available in White. b. To playback footage, first on the calendar select a teal colored date within the range you wish to view footage. If the date you would like to view is white, then too much time has passed since the incident, and the footage has been recorded over. With HD-SDI & HD-TVI systems, your time to retrieve video is significantly reduced due to the large amount of space needed for HD video recording. i. Once you have selected a date, the timeline shown below the view screen is where you can begin playback. ii. The timeline is in 24-hour format, not AM/PM, and runs from 12 am on the left, to 11:59 pm on the right. iii. To begin playback, hover your mouse over the time you wish to begin playback from, and double click. iv. Depending on your Internet speed, the videos will begin to populate on the screens, and playback footage from the time you double-clicked on. v. If you are within the same network as the system, playback will be much faster and efficient. vi. To speed up viewing the system, there is a slider bar under the calendar on the left. The bar has a 0 in the middle, and to the left and right, a.25, 1, 4, and 16. This slider is to select the playback speed; drag it to the left to select a rewind speed, drag it to the right to select your fast forward speed. To return to normal playback speed, select the 1 on the right side of the bar.
c. Backing up Footage i. To backup footage, you will need to refer to the Instance Backup on the left side of the Playback Dashboard. Refer to the Dashboard photo above. ii. By default, it will back up the footage into an EXE file. This is a selfcontained player of the footage, playable on any Windows machine. We recommend keeping this setting, as it is the most efficient way to get footage to the right authorities in the event of it being needed. iii. Instance Backup Screen: iv. The first select is the file name, we recommend not modifying this. The default contains the start date and time, and the end date and time in the file name. v. The second line allows you which cameras to backup footage from. Click on the right and left arrows if your system has more than 8 cameras in it. This will allow you to uncheck or check cameras 9-32, 8 cameras at a time. vi. Select a start date and time, then an end date and time. All time is in 24 Hour format, 13:00 23:59 refers to 1:00PM to 11:59PM Continue Below
vii. Once you have select your start and end time, click on GET ESTIMATE. This is required, and it will gather the data needed to backup. viii. In the image above, there is a status section that says Time Search has ended. This will flash CALCULATING after you have clicked on Get Estimate. ix. Once the calculation has finished, you may now click on the Start button to begin backing up the data. x. Depending on your Internet speed, and the amount of video and cameras you have selected, this process can take up to 4 hours to complete. For HD-SDI/TVI systems, we recommend you select camera footage in 30 minute sections to avoid connection timeouts. xi. The status section beneath will show you the backup progress as it is backing up video. xii. The video backup must complete before you go back to live view, or to view other footage in the system. If the system goes to another view, or is closed, the backup will not complete. xiii. Once the backup has completed, a notification will appear asking if you want to view the folder where the backup is located, click yes.
4. Contact Clack Technology Systems for Assistance a. Should you require assistance in backing up your video footage, we are on call 24/7. Footage is recovered during normal business hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Saturday. Emergency recovery of footage is available 24/7 provided we are placed in contact with a law enforcement detective to verify the case. b. If you need assistance in setting up your software, please call use during normal business hours. c. We offer free recovery of footage for the first 6 month after installing a system at your location. Thereafter, the recovery fee is $130 per incident.
