1 SoundSoap PE (Pinnacle Edition) Read Me October 15, 2007 Thank you for choosing BIAS SoundSoap PE (Pinnacle Edition)! SoundSoap is a high-quality noise reduction and audio restoration tool that's very easy to use. By adjusting just a few controls, unwanted hiss, room noise, rumble, electrical hum, clicks and crackles, and other background noise can be reduced in, or removed from, almost any digital media file, including digital video (DV) soundtracks, PowerPoint and other presentation software soundtracks, Flash and other web-tool soundtracks, digital audio workstation tracks, cassette or other analog tape recordings, vinyl LP recordings, and other sources. SoundSoap incorporates suggestions from numerous audio and video editors who all had one thing in common: noisy audio, and the desire to clean it up quickly and easily. SoundSoap PE is an OEM edition of SoundSoap. Unlike the full retail edition of SoundSoap, SoundSoap PE runs only as a Windows VST plug-in used in Pinnacle Studio Ultimate. Users interested in running SoundSoap as a standalone application, or within AU, RTAS, or VST host applications on Mac or Windows systems, may crossgrade to the full edition of SoundSoap 2.1 or SoundSoap Pro. SoundSoap PE Documentation and BIAS Authorization Manager will be installed in the following locations: Documentation Program Files/BIAS/BIAS SoundSoap 2/ BIAS Authorization Manager Program Files/BIAS/BIAS Authorization Manager Updated Product Registration & Authorization System Serial Number-based System: SoundSoap PE uses an updated registration and authorization process, designed to give users the utmost in flexibility. SoundSoap PE uses a serial number-based authorization, and allows authorization of up to two computers for example, a desktop computer in a studio, and a laptop computer for mobile use. While SoundSoap PE may be authorized on up to two computers, it may only be used on one computer at a time. NOTE: Some users of previous versions of SoundSoap PE have experienced authorization issues related to network configuration changes. SoundSoap PE resolves these issues, however, when installed as an update to an existing installation, SoundSoap PE must be reauthorized. Reauthorization requires reentry of your original SoundSoap PE serial number (located on the installer CD sleeve of your Pinnacle Studio Ultimate Edition product) and Internet access. If you do not know your serial number, you may recover it by going to:

3 If you currently have SoundSoap PE installed and are not experiencing problems, it is NOT necessary to install SoundSoap PE About Authorization and Trial Modes: Pinnacle Studio Ultimate includes a fully functional copy of SoundSoap PE for removing unwanted background noise from your audio and video clips. When Pinnacle Studio Ultimate is first launched, SoundSoap PE prompts you to either authorize it or run it in trial mode. For full SoundSoap PE functionality, authorize it with the included serial number. Avoid using SoundSoap PE in trial mode. To Authorize SoundSoap PE: Three things are required to authorize SoundSoap PE: 1. The software must be installed. 2. Your serial number must be available. It can be found on a small sticker on the Pinnacle Studio Ultimate installer CD sleeve. 3. A computer with Internet access must be available. To authorize SoundSoap PE on a computer with Internet access: 1. Launch Pinnacle Studio Ultimate. When first launched on an unauthorized computer, you will be prompted to authorize SoundSoap PE or run it in trial mode. Click the Authorize button to continue to the BIAS Authorization Manager. 2. Enter your SoundSoap PE serial number and address when prompted. 3. Click the "Authorize" button. SoundSoap PE is now authorized. If the computer on which you plan to run SoundSoap PE does not have Internet access, you may use another computer to aid in the authorization process: 1. Launch Pinnacle Studio Ultimate. When first launched on an unauthorized computer, you will be prompted to authorize SoundSoap PE or run it in trial mode. Click the Authorize button to continue to the BIAS Authorization Manager. 2. Click the "Alternate Authorization" button and enter your SoundSoap PE serial number and address when prompted. 3. In the Alternate Authorization dialog, follow the on-screen directions, to create an Authorization Request File. 4. Locate the BIAS Authorization Manager and transfer it with the Authorization Request File to a computer with Internet access (via LAN, CD-ROM, flash drive, ipod, etc.).

On the computer with Internet access, run the standalone BIAS Authorization Manager transferred in step Click the "Alternate Authorization" button, and begin with Step 3 in the Alternate Authorization dialog. 7. On successful transmission of your Authorization Request File to the BIAS server, BIAS will respond with your Authorization File. 8. Save this Authorization File (called "X_BIAS SoundSoap PE 2.x"), and transfer it back to the computer on which you plan to run SoundSoap PE. 9. In the BIAS Authorization Manager's Alternate Authorization dialog, go directly to Step 4 and click the "Open Authorization File" button. 10. Locate the Authorization File and click the "Open" button. SoundSoap PE is now authorized.
